Noooo NOT Bake Off

Just heard Alison Hammond is to co host Bake Off. Totally ruined it for me now. Bad enough when Mel and Sue left. I’m not sure Mr Hollywood is going to appreciate the competition.

I didn't watch it because I can't bear watching anything with her in it - she's one of the people I switch off whenever they appear - but I'm glad she dialled the loudness and cackling right down to let the real stars of the programme shine.

I expected Alison to be ghastly from what I had read but she didn't annoy apart from the odd 'babe'.

I didn't think Alison was as bad as she could have been, thank god, I found her tolerable.
What wasn't so tolerable was the hyper manic editing, it absolutely did my nut in. One person says a sentence eg. 'I need to get the ganache shiny' and camera has cut to about 5 bakers for the duration of the sentence so you end up with no idea who's actually talking and you need an antiemetic pill.
I'll be bailing out if that keeps up.

I thought Alison wasn’t too bad, dialled it down enough for us to keep watching for now. I wish wish wish they would stop showing previews of what’s happening in next weeks show and what’s coming up in the ruddy show you’re about to actually watch. I don’t want to know someone has a disaster with a wonky cake… Just let me see for myself please.

I can't stand her. I'm from the same area and her voice makes me cringe.

She is in an advert on a podcast I like at the moment so every time it comes on I fling myself at my phone to fast forward.

I haven't really watched Alison in anything else much, but thought she was really good this week on Bake Off. I felt it was a big improvement from Matt, she was much warmer towards the bakers.

I agree about the editing. Too many quick shots and not enough time to figure out who was who and who was making what.

I really like Alison and thought she did a great job. My teen and her friends like her too. If people don't like her just don't watch. It must be hurtful for her to read nasty comments.

I'm sure she doesn't spend her time reading threads about BO on Mumsnet @Shekissedagirlandshelikedit and even if she was, comments (both positive and negative) about her presenting style are allowed.

I think comments both positive and negative are fine but some have been really personal and nasty e.g. the PP calling her a "waste of oxygen."

I didn't find her annoying or over the top and she seemed genuinely empathetic towards the contestants..... certainly a big improvement on Matt!

It's not just on mumsnet. I'm from the same small town as one of the contestants. There have been posts on the local FB group wishing them well but it pretty much always descends into people making comments like 'I'm not watching because Alison Hammond...' followed by an unkind personal comment and others piling in saying they agree.

I think Alison Hammond is perfect for the programme. I didn't watch the last series but this one looks like being a real treat.

I watched it. She was annoying. I’ll continue to watch because thankfully it’s just a few lines a show with her overly positive energy, loud voice and calling whoever she is talking to babe or similar

Matt Lucas was awful on GBBO. Sandi Toksvig was good and I think Alison will be too. I can’t imagine why she would engender so much vitriol. I’d reserve my ire for Russell Brand, David Williams, Laurence Fox, Dan Wootten and the rest of those people who have shown themselves to be, at the least, unpleasant.

No i did not watch it (why would i watch a programme with someone i hate in it!)cant stand the women (nothing to do with colour) shes just someone that i dont like .

Didn't watch the last season, having watch all the previous ones... Matt Lucas and Noel together were just too annoying. Seemed much better this time, and actually both the hosts seemed a lot calmer and less in your face.
