Noooo NOT Bake Off

Just heard Alison Hammond is to co host Bake Off. Totally ruined it for me now. Bad enough when Mel and Sue left. I’m not sure Mr Hollywood is going to appreciate the competition.

Better than Matt Lucas but maybe too big a personality

I'm not a huge fan of AH but maybe she will tone it down a bit and realise that she's just there to facilitate and not be the star of the show. Her personality could fill that tent but that's not what the presenters are there for. I do think she could be empathetic / supportive though which is what they need in there.

Didn't like Matt at all - it felt stilted and he looked uncomfortable IMO.

Noel could work with anyone I think. I would have absolutely loved Ellie Taylor to do it. Just the right balance of wit and personality/ empathy and would have been great next to Noel.

I wasn't keen to watch the new series of Bake Off after last year's lacklustre series but I will now that Alison is presenting. I think she is just the tonic the show needs after a dismal couple of years.

And for many of us it won’t be. If you’ve seen someone/some people being racist then report them - blanket or specific accusations of racism have to be based on something posters have said.

@SirChenjins And that's why I said for SOME PEOPLE, that isn't a blanket statement , perhaps you should spend time working on your reading comprehension rather than telling people how to report issues . It's a shame that SOME posters can't acknowledge that there may be racism involved, I wonder why that is

Agree, lacklustre perfect description for it, it needs a good pick me up. With all the hours of editing available they should have more to show the viewers, like, the results of each bake. As a viewer you hardly get to see all the hours of baking and what the result is before they skip back and forth to the faces. If AH domineers the show isn’t it down to poor editing or everything being quite boring to entertain the viewers from just showing everyone under pressure?

And I said if you think SOME PEOPLE are being racist based on their posts then you report them - you can report more than one poster. I wonder why you haven’t? It’s imagine it’s because you have zero evidence but are simply throwing about the ‘but racism’ allegation based on absolutely zilch.

Because sometimes it's more effective to call it out than report and have the evidence deleted.

Agree @SirChenjins I love Alison Hammond and am saddened to see negative comments about her, but to say people who don't like her are racist is just farcical, and is a very lazy predictable insult, thrown out by the hard of thinking and the very narrow-minded.

If you criticize Meghan Markle, Beyonce, Serena or Venus Williams, or just about any non-white woman (or person) there's always SOMEONE on here who starts puking out the 'ur a raaaaycist' comments. It's pathetic. And an insult to people actually suffering racism.

I'm embarrassed for these posters, and I wonder if they spout this utter crap in real life. If they do, it's very likely they get laughed at a lot behind their back.

People shouting 'racism' here are saying more about themselves than they are about those they are accusing. Surely we're allowed to like or dislike someone based on their personality. The person's race shouldn't come into it if we simply treat people as people.

I like Alison Hammond, but I have to be in the right mood. Sometimes I find her really funny and lovely and other times she does my head in😅

Love AH. She makes me laugh.

She's not an airhead. She's been a professional on TV productions for years now. She'll do as she's asked, and she'll know to tone it down.

As an aside, it'll be nice to see someone who's actually keen on food presenting it. Mat L, although funny, never showed any attraction to the cakes ect.

When AH was on celeb masterchef she had a great time and they were lucky when she left them anything to judge iirc 😂😂Woman after my own heart!

That’s why I think the fab Nadya Hussain should present it - she knows far more about baking than AH, has a wicked sense of humour and her presenting style is more in line with GBBO imo

I think AH will be kind. I hope so anyway, otherwise it will just be her and Noel trying to vibe off each other while the contestants look worried and harassed.
