What is something someone has said that is etched in your brain?

Mine is when I was 17, pretty self conscious and just finished being intimate with my then boyfriend.

We decided to get up and go out and as I sat up to put my top on he poked my belly and said “Christ, you could feed Africa with that tyre” it baffles me now, how brazen it was to just come out with it. But I was a size 8-10 and honestly I think I’m still confused 😂

Its one of those things that ‘pop’ into my mind at random times ans it’s gout me wondering what others peoples ‘moments’ are when they remember something someone has said that might not have significance, but will always be remembered.

My STBXH after telling me he wanted to leave me after 14 years "as he'd met his soul mate." Me not seeing it coming and saying "but you still hold hands with me when we go out?" His reply? "Ah,but did you not notice that it was always you reaching for my hand never the other way around?"
He did me a favour as I hadn't realised how unhappy I was being married to him and am now a much better mum but those words still pop up now and again and make me feel such a fool.

Is he still with the "soulmate"?

The father of my children not long after we seperated: so glad I've now got a sexy gf. Your body is disgusting.

He was talking about the woman he cheated on me with.
They very quickly had a child and then broke up. See that worked out for him.

🤢🤢

Ah. As far as love stories go, this is a timeless classic. 😂

I cannot remember how old I was, but probably end if teens or early twenties. An old family friend told me I should get married, so that we could have an affair.
I did not get married until I was 41.
I was invited to his 90th birthday, but did not go.
Just awful.

@ItsShiela How's this for 'females are only for appearance'.
I've always been rather underweight due to being autistic/ARFID. So twenty years ago, when I was a teenager, they misdiagnosed me with anorexia, which was probably common for autistic girls at that time. An adult male consultant psychiatrist trying to figure out why I was so food-avoidant advised me that I didn't need to starve myself, because "Men like a bit of meat on a girl."

....

....

What.

This didn't actually affect me that much, because I had zero interest in sex or boys at that time, I was only interested in books. My autistic self just totally failed to interpret his meaning. My brain basically returned: 'Error 404'. But in retrospect. What.

This reminds me of going to see a GP a good few years ago. I was in the midst of an eating disorder and mental health issues which they knew about. I saw a locum who insisted on weighing me, despite me being very reluctant as this was a major trigger and source of anxiety. I agreed providing I was not told how much I weighed. He agreed. When we sat down after, his first words were 'Well, you've put on some weight!' WTAF. I did complain to the practice and they told me that he wouldn't be working there again. It might not seem like much but it sent me into a spiral. Insensitive prick
