If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?

As per title, imagine you've somehow suddenly just come into a huge amount of money. What would be the first thing you'd go out and buy? Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time. Also assuming that you are going to donate a healthy portion to charity and those you know who need it. I mean the first thing you're actually going to leave the house and spend money on for yourself?

I would go to the nearest nice department store and buy every permutation of the Chanel perfume products so all the soap, body creams, talc, sprays etc. and a big bottle of each eau de parfum. Would probably buy a nice bottle of champagne too but still be too scared to buy Cristal or the like!

I'd go out and pick a new bed and mattress, and a new phone. Sigh...

crumpet · 08/02/2023 10:30

Straight to Germany or Austria for a week or two detoxing and being bossed about in a spa. Come back feeling refreshed and invigorated to work out what to do with all that money!

A Scrooge McDuck style money bin.

Best. Idea. Ever.

Tirednest · 08/02/2023 10:31

I would pay my vet instead of waiting until pay day.

DisforDarkChocolate · 08/02/2023 10:31

Euromillions size amount, I'd find an available house to rent and never see my noisy inconsiderate neighbours again. Then, I'd look for somewhere to buy.

Thenewsisnext · 08/02/2023 10:31

A holiday, yes definitely a holiday 🙂

Maryandherlamb · 08/02/2023 10:32

Assuming the kids were in nursery and I had access to the money I'd won... I would go out for a nice lunch, three courses and a glass or two of champagne... then I'd peruse a few locals shops and buy some nice things for the kids (the type of thing you look at and love and then see the price tag and put it back).

reddingweddy · 08/02/2023 10:32

I'd go grocery shopping at Marks & Spencer.

LitralViolins · 08/02/2023 10:33

I'd get on the train to London and, like a pp, head straight for Liberty.

On the way home, I'd buy a bottle of champagne, an ice bucket and three crystal glasses.

I'd leave them on the kitchen table for when DH and DS got home, and make them guess why the house was full of purple shopping bags Grin

There's a place in Bath that does a 'Reading Spa' where you go and meet a book personal shopper, have tea and cake whilst they source all the books they think you'd like... heaven.

Nooooooo 😀

awesome…off to google

Timetochangetheoil · 08/02/2023 10:36

I’d check out all my baskets and wish lists…eBay/Amazon/Etsy/silkfred etc! Stuff I’ve saved for ages (years sometimes) but waiting to treat myself…

Yes. Really tasty dinner. I’d buy dh an RS4 before telling him, I’d drive it up and Chuck the keys at him and tell him it’s a stop gap until the one he’s chosen comes in. Then he can pick the colour, toys etc and that’s also how I would tell him.

we rent so it would be a house as quickly as I could as well.

charities. Plenty of animal, wildlife ones. Then, once we are settled I will volunteer at a rescue and maybe train as a vet nurse.

Iflyaway · 08/02/2023 10:38

An appartment or house for DS.

And a crate of champagne.

I've done the Reading spa, Mr B's emporium, it was truly wonderful. Hot chocolate and a brownie, great advice and an armful of books.

Lodgeornot · 08/02/2023 10:39

A maccies. I'm absolutely brassic right now and you'd give my right arm for a mcmuffin or double cheeseburger.

Then I'd pay off my mortgage and get in appropriate professionals to do all the work of doing it up. And a car/campervan.

OntarioBagnet · 08/02/2023 10:40

I’d probably go out for dinner to celebrate 🤷🏻‍♀️. I literally can’t think of any material stuff I’d rush out to buy. House and car in the next few weeks for sure.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 08/02/2023 10:41

I would go to Selfridges and Liberty and spend thousands on make up, perfumes, candles, skincare, a nice bag etc.

Pre child, I always imagined flying off to a luxury resort (first class, obviously) to sit on a white sandy beach browsing Rightmove to pick a house, but now I have a toddler I probably would have to be a bit more practical....and book a private jet for us instead.

popandchoc · 08/02/2023 10:42

I'd go online and order myself an expensive handbag.

ferretface · 08/02/2023 10:43

Quit my job and book a holiday.

Then enrol for a further degree in something I love doing but which doesn't have good pay prospects compared to my current career.

Brontosaurus · 08/02/2023 10:43

Hmm I'd either go to my local garden centre and buy all the David Austen roses I love or I'd go to Bath and make two stops - one to Persephone Books to order their entire catalogue, and a second to Mr B's bookshop to buy every other book I fancied.

Then cake.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 08/02/2023 10:44

I'd take my two disabled children and get them the best lightest superduperest wheelchairs with electric wheels as opposed to the clunky nhs chairs

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 08/02/2023 10:45

I would buy a ps5 and Hogwarts Legacy.
And the big Hogwarts Lego set.
And book an appointment with a personal shopper at John Lewis to replace everything in my wardrobe.

HellcatSpangledShalalala · 08/02/2023 10:45

Definitely the nicest bottle of Champagne I could get from the local Booths. Then probably a meal out.

I would probably buy a car the next day, I know exactly what I want just don't have the money yet so I'd be straight of your buy it!

Yarrawonga · 08/02/2023 10:45

Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time.

The only thing I need now is a new car. Everything else can wait.

gallina · 08/02/2023 10:45

I'd buy my grandparents house for them, pay a good chunk to cover their bills for the next 10 years, then go and buy a new car - mines falling to bits and costing a fortune in repairs
