If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?

As per title, imagine you've somehow suddenly just come into a huge amount of money. What would be the first thing you'd go out and buy? Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time. Also assuming that you are going to donate a healthy portion to charity and those you know who need it. I mean the first thing you're actually going to leave the house and spend money on for yourself?

I would go to the nearest nice department store and buy every permutation of the Chanel perfume products so all the soap, body creams, talc, sprays etc. and a big bottle of each eau de parfum. Would probably buy a nice bottle of champagne too but still be too scared to buy Cristal or the like!

I'd take my daughter to Hobbycraft and give her £5,000 and tell her not to leave any change.

Wilkolampshade · 08/02/2023 10:09

Dental check-up plus any work needed, eye exam and new prescriptions for glasses and lenses.... Same for all the fam...
Then 2x flats for the kids.

Ooh, and new bedding.

ButterCrackers · 08/02/2023 10:09

A holiday with a private pool and sauna.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/02/2023 10:10

Oh and I would go through Waterstones with a trolley picking books off the shelves like I was on Supermarket Sweep Grin.

neurospicygal · 08/02/2023 10:10

some decent fekking food!

tootiredtobother · 08/02/2023 10:11

well, first find your nice department store.. i would have to go to London.. Find a bespoke shoe maker and get loads of stylish but comfortable boots and shoes,, 'im big of hoof so it's been a life long struggle. Women it seems should NOT have feet larger than a 7 still, if they want anything pretty

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 08/02/2023 10:11

If you really won't let me go straight out and buy a bigger house, then I would walk through Liberty and John Lewis just buying anything I liked the look of.

I am always so careful and restrained in what I buy. Do I really want this? Is this the best price? How much use will I really get from this? Do we have space at home? So dull. I would like to be free of all that carefulness.

Obviously everyone is going to want a better house, but logistically it's never going to be the first thing you actually buy is it? You're not going to go on RightMove, pick a house and buy it that day.

I love the idea of walking through Liberty though. I've never actually been!

The biggest, most amazingest cat castle the world has ever seen.

Theunamedcat · 08/02/2023 10:14

The very first thing I would do? Before ANYTHING else? turn the heating ON

TheLastDreamOfTheOak · 08/02/2023 10:14

I would go and buy the massive footstool that matches my love seat which I covet, but cannot afford.
It really annoys me how much I know it would complete my living room but I'm stuck with one that doesn't quite match, but was a fraction of the price. It irritates me every time I see it!

After that I'd be booking in my every other day blow dry til the end of time.

ThriftyMumma · 08/02/2023 10:15

My Vinted favourites list is obscene but I'd purchase EVERYTHING in my list!

There's a place in Bath that does a 'Reading Spa' where you go and meet a book personal shopper, have tea and cake whilst they source all the books they think you'd like... heaven.

I don’t think I’d buy anything much until I got my new house, at which point I’d buy loads of furniture for my new house!
Id maybe go and see a personal stylist and get some new clothes, but I’d rather lose a stone first so probably wouldn’t bother yet.
So probably just a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

After putting the heating on 😂

My favourite perfume. It's too expensive for me to justify buying it for myself, I usually get it as a gift, but I've run out - that's the first thing that popped into my head! Then books, there are so many on my wish list and I'd go buy the lot in one go. After that I'd immediately book a holiday to one of the many places I'd love to visit but haven't been able to yet.

I stayed in a 5 star hotel in France once (just the one night). It was amazing and cost us a fortune. It had a stunning spa and in amazing grounds.

A staff member said they’ve just had a family stay that spent €100,000 that week. I’d go back there get a couple of suites and have a week off and then work out what to do. I feel like my body and mind need a rest.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 08/02/2023 10:19

The very first thing would probably be a lavish celebratory meal out. Or maybe just a bottle of champagne, to drink while we get over the shock!

The next thing would be the services of a very good IFA!

OMG. I'm taking DD on a mini break to Bath later this year. We are so doing that!!

MissGroves · 08/02/2023 10:24

A house - we currently rent and my children will likely never leave home due to SN but our house isn’t suitable. I would love a home that could meet all our needs (and a few of my own wants!).

SomersetBrie · 08/02/2023 10:25

The kids used to say they'd know we'd won because they would come home and there would be a Lego death star each waiting for them.
They are a bit older now, but that still might be the first thing - just so they would come in and go "wait ....... what?!!!?"
I think the actual first thing would depend on when I won it. Right now, I fancy heading to the nearest deli and buying some lovely cheese.

WhoWants2Know · 08/02/2023 10:27

A really good, comfortable pair of boots that would last years.

Tirednest · 08/02/2023 10:28

Rainbowqueeen · 08/02/2023 09:59

The most expensive champagne my local bottle shop had available, a huge cheese platter and a massive bunch of flowers

This.

Giggorata · 08/02/2023 10:28

Some lovely posh tiles for my loo.
