Who else is NOT HAVING A TAKEAWAY?!

CrapBucket · 04/02/2023 19:08

I am tired, its been a long week at work, and I fancy a Chinese takeaway. But am determined not to waste my hard earned money. So am posting this for accountability. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

We're not (and we usually always do!!)
I've started SlimmingWorld plus recent takeaways have been costly and underwhelming; £26 for a kebab and a burger meal was a receipt eye opener.
Today I bought 4 big burgers from the butchers and we're having a build your own burger night. Will probably cost half what a takeaway costs, be better for us and taste much better

Fuckitydoodah · 04/02/2023 19:17

Me, we've had homemade loaded nachos instead.

Really trying to reign in our spending at the moment

betweenarockandhardplace · 04/02/2023 19:17

Me. UberEATS keep sending me discount codes, so it's difficult to stay strong. 😭

I have Nigella's meatballs on and garlic bread ready to go in the oven when DH and DS get home from the football. We may have had Chinese takeaway last night

Lovemusic33 · 04/02/2023 19:18

I wanted a take away but can’t afford it (and I have eaten way too much this week) so we had jacket potato and beans instead ☹️

BamBamBilla · 04/02/2023 19:18

Yep but mostly because our local chinese is awful and I live in the sticks so not much of a choice round here. I made chicken fajita flatbread thing with guacamole and cheese instead.

KatnissNeverdone · 04/02/2023 19:18

I want a Chinese. The kids have had nuggets and chips out the freezer and I've eaten a massive bag of kettle crisps and half a bag of fruit pastilles (nutritious I know!) so I feel a bit sick now.

Chewbecca · 04/02/2023 19:18

Home made pizza here - trying to avoid takeaways for both cost and health reasons.

FenghuangHoyan · 04/02/2023 19:18

+1

I was thinking about a Chinese yesterday but then remembered my car was off the road.

MissMarplesNiece · 04/02/2023 19:18

Me. I've made falafel which we'll have with pita breads & salad. Not very impressed with the recipe I used, but hey ho I'll go back to my old recipe next time. I love falafel.

AutisticLegoLover · 04/02/2023 19:19

I had porridge 😇

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 04/02/2023 19:20

Me. I even put what I wanted into my deliveroo basket, then had the "There's food in the fridge" argument with myself and emptied the basket. I'm now eating peanuts and drinking wine because nothing in the fridge even remotely resembles tofu in black bean sauce.

Mercedes519 · 04/02/2023 19:21

Fakeaway here with the aforementioned Sainsbury’s posh pizza and homemade brownies. Not quite Papa Johns but hits the spot…

LaurelGrove · 04/02/2023 19:21

Us. Despite pressure from certain quarters.
Chicken, patatas bravas and peas

Plbrookes · 04/02/2023 19:21

I'm cooking a curry with a spice pack I got for Christmas. Looks like being exceptionally hot!!!

SingingSands · 04/02/2023 19:21

Me! Didn't cave after the pub last night (very proud for that!) and I've got a chilli bubbling away for tonight.

Determined not to cave for as long as possible this year.

JennyDarlingRIP · 04/02/2023 19:22

I made two vats of chilli a hot one for us and a milder one for DS, so much for the freezer. DH and I cleaned the house top to bottom this morning and he's out tonight, so the fire is lit DS is in bed and I've got a new book to get started. Feeling very virtuous!

Wishihadanalgorithm · 04/02/2023 19:23

We have just had fajitas. It was nice and I am full. It helped that I didn’t have to cook though and it was DP who did it all.

I did want a takeaway pizza the other night but made a bolognaise instead and that was really good. Think I enjoyed it more than the pizza I had hankered for.

Cuppasoupmonster · 04/02/2023 19:24

Guilty 😬 chippy tea for us, was supposed to be last night but I just wasn’t hungry enough to justify it! Can’t wait to dunk my chips in mushy peas 🤤

Always4Brenner · 04/02/2023 19:24

No I don’t do them since being on my own I’d rather gave nice meals for less in the freezer so frozen pizza with loads of topping getting over a nasty cold so not that hungry tonight. Did finish off the cheese and onion tiny rolls earlier though as a treat.

msssm · 04/02/2023 19:26

I'm going to anyfuckers for dinner 😋

Only offspring that still stays at home is out today. So just me and the animals and I've just grazed all day. If he was home he would likely be asking for one.

We've cut down a wee bit, but every time I buy one now I feel guilty because the money could have been better spent. Takes the enjoyment out of it.

I'd like to stop buying them all together. Maybe cut down to once a month and make it a real treat.

GoodChat · 04/02/2023 19:27

We're not - we're having homemade egg fried rice with chicken tikka, chips and curry sauce!

lenalemonade · 04/02/2023 19:27

Made Pinch of Nom Gyros ...chicken thighs ,super cheap .
Packet of wraps ,bag of salad fed 4 -lovely ❤️

PawMaw · 04/02/2023 19:28

DramaAlpaca · 04/02/2023 19:10

No takeaway here. I'm going to make spaghetti carbonara later.

That's what I had tonight. Used the BBC Good food recipe and it was 10/10. Was a bit surprised by the butter so only used a tsp but will be using it again

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/02/2023 19:29

Me! Bought steak and champagne (from lidl) as its our 10 yr anniversary Monday
