I've really fancied trying these Bueno eggs, finally saw them in Tesco and nearly collapsed in shock at the price. £2.75!! For a few tiny little eggs. I think not. The delights of the Bueno egg will remain a mystery to me.

What have you seen lately that's ridiculously overpriced? I know everything but maybe like the little treats you might have bought that are now so out of budget that you won't buy them even if you can afford too.

Not a particular item but I’ve found every single time I step foot in Aldi it’s gone up by a serious amount. They keep getting voted as the cheapest supermarket but I genuinely don’t know how, there are never offers like 2 for xyz and things are increasing seemingly by the day in there

Any British food in my local store is pretty high priced. Photo of my favourite chocolate bar 🍫.

I had Asda Smart price tomato soup just this week for lunch and it tastes exactly like Heinz tomato soup, so I definitely recommend it.

Crikey. Who was giving the class - Banksy?
My DD is a dance teacher and she's been full of angst about whether she is charging too much at £35.00 per child for a half term holiday session that runs 9am - 3pm. She's including some arts and crafts so maybe she should call it an art class and hike her prices!

I don't know about the situation at home in the UK, but here in Thailand it's terrible. A small bottle of beer is £5. A night in a fairly basic hotel is £150 and a crap meal of one course for a family of 5 is routinely £100. Cheap days have long gone, wherever you are.

How interesting. We were in Thailand last week (Phuket and khao lak region) and while it was not as cheap as the first time we went >15 years ago (or even the last time we went ~5 years ago we still found it fairly cheap.

Beer was around £2.50 for a small in a bar. Dinner for 3 adults with sharing starters, 3 mains and a sharing dessert was approx £20-£25. We stayed in 5* resorts and paid approx £100-£120 per night (booked about 3 months in advance). So still affordable for visitors from countries with higher salaries. However, some of my friends who work there couldn’t afford a lot as wages are so low in comparison to cost of living. Must be some significant regional variation.

A dated four bedroom house in a Surrey suburb town for £3.25m. Yes it has a lovely plot on private road and a small pool but at the end of the day it’s a four bed house….

SuffolkUnicorn · 02/02/2023 03:41

SuffolkUnicorn · 02/02/2023 03:46

sashh · 02/02/2023 03:49

McDonalds hash brown £1.69

Filamumof9 · 02/02/2023 03:56

I love in the Caribbean and while groceries have always been more expensive here than in the UK, there have been some products that became much seater. Coffee is now 12 pounds a packet, cat litter at least 6 pounds, but dog food got much more expensive. A big of 50 liber is about 50-55 pound, and that is the cheapest brand in the island.

Spartak · 02/02/2023 03:59

A cardboard box for £6.50 in WH Smith.

I'm amazed they are still trading, everything is so overpriced in there.

I read last week that Aldi have dropped to 4th now with tesco the cheapest I think.

My daughter is autistic and will only eat the Heinz variations of tinned food, so tomato soup, pasta shapes and bolognese 😩 she is home schooled so has these as easy lunches, easily amounts to £10 per week just on Heinz.

i dont enjoy or condone having to do this. but ours had the same. alot to do with sensory and taste but also the " change" and name was the issue. we changed boxes on the coco pops.and found hoops and changed it into the heinz tins. first time was just a slightly upturned look. but we are now having the cheaper version in the wrong tin and right packet for some things.
it had to happen. could not deal with the price rise which would have been worse for them to handle.

kateandme · 02/02/2023 04:22

converseandjeans · 01/02/2023 23:51

Heinz soup £1.60 a can
Baking spread/stork £2.75
Cheese slices £3.20

It used to be a cheap meal to have cheese toastie and tin of soup. I think with the price of bread it would be £1.60 + £0.70 so around £2.30 🤷🏻‍♀️

the stork horrified me when i saw it. i was baking a cake for £1 a tub last year! i had to put it back this time.

kateandme · 02/02/2023 04:23

for the marmite lovers. have any of you got any friends with cosco cards. the price is still hiked but you can get those big tubs for much cheaper and it will last.

garlictwist · 02/02/2023 04:26

Oven pizzas in the co op are £6.50! Just a cheese pizza. I could get one ordered to my house hot for that price.

RobynEllacott · 02/02/2023 04:33

Voting for the Tories and/or Brexit has turned out to be very expensive ...

PupInAPram · 02/02/2023 05:05

Over £18 each for a cinema ticket. We walked out, went home and watched TV instead. Also Asda 5x apricot tiny snack bags £2.50.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 02/02/2023 05:10

In Asda, Ferrero Rocher in a small box were nearly £8.
I wanted to buy some as DS had been told he was no longer allergic to any nuts and these seemed like a funny thing to give him at Christmas.
Not at that bloody price
