I've really fancied trying these Bueno eggs, finally saw them in Tesco and nearly collapsed in shock at the price. £2.75!! For a few tiny little eggs. I think not. The delights of the Bueno egg will remain a mystery to me.

What have you seen lately that's ridiculously overpriced? I know everything but maybe like the little treats you might have bought that are now so out of budget that you won't buy them even if you can afford too.

Not a particular item but I’ve found every single time I step foot in Aldi it’s gone up by a serious amount. They keep getting voted as the cheapest supermarket but I genuinely don’t know how, there are never offers like 2 for xyz and things are increasing seemingly by the day in there

The other thing Aldi are doing is shrinking products.
I usually buy the big box of their brand non-bio, it lasts me ages. Bought one this time and it had very visibly shrunk as I pour the dregs of the old box into the new one. It was previously 2 and a half kg, now 2kg, but same price of £3.69.
Their 9 packs of "Softest" loo roll used to be 4ply and is now 3ply and it shows, it's awful stuff and still £3.29.

I think that's how they're keeping their cheapest claim whilst really ripping people off.

Packet of lemon and honey strepsils £5.50 in a tescos express. Like wha??

Genius gluten free bread. £4.50 and its not even half the size of a normal loaf.

Yay for coeliacs 🙄

Yep you have a life long condition you have to live with. So let's penalise you with expensive foods knowing you have no other choice.

I agree, totally crazy prices, especially for Heinz products. DH & I go to the supermarket together every week, and we are utterly amazed by the prices. Heinz ketchup off the shopping list, we go through a bottle a week at £4 it’s just not sustainable, Aldi ketchup is the best alternative, very similar to Heinz, Our now grown up kids haven’t noticed a difference they are very fussy, so they would have complained. I will pick up some Aldi marmite next time we are in, I looked at it last week, but wasn’t sure, a pp recommends so that’s great.

TakeMe2Insanity · 02/02/2023 06:39

£5 for a hot chocolate at Battersea Park, not even in the cafe but one of the takeaway points! It was nice but nothing amazing.

Lodgeornot · 02/02/2023 06:48

Everything in the British Heart Foundation. They've always been the most expensive but it's gotten silly.

Last weekend: £9 for a Primark t-shirt that was probably £6 new. £35 for a supermarket brand coat with a tear on it.

@Tothepoint99 he's fairly recently retired and adores a task!

When I got covid he went food shopping and brought me the entire pharmacy shelf, immune support yoghurt drinks Confused, random stuff "because it looked nice" and wafer thin chicken "for the cat because he can't eat the proper stuff with no teeth"
Cat was delighted Grin

Adorable! 😍

ActingTheMaggot · 02/02/2023 07:00

Do you mean woke Paperchase who didn't pay their freelance card designers and left them to starve?

Now I have 2 reasons to boycott them.

Heysham1 · 02/02/2023 07:02

£4.10 for 10 birdseye fish-fingers (not cod) and £6.50 for 4 battered frozen fish (Birdseye) in Tesco.

A woman on FB marketplace trying to sell a hornet's nest for $125 (USD). I mean really 😂

😂 😭

Wobblytrees · 02/02/2023 07:18

absolutely everything

we make our own pizzas now - so much cheaper

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 02/02/2023 07:25

A small (empty) dropper bottle from the pharmacy. Used to be 50p. Now over £5. Fortunately the assistant found one priced at 50p lurking at the back

Oblomov22 · 02/02/2023 07:25

£12.75 for a plain Jacket potato?

Mayalinaballerina · 01/02/2023 22:04

A roll of wrapping paper in paperchase at £9. I am not surprised they are in trouble!

They have been in trouble for years. I worked somewhere relevant to their supply chain and we limited their account many years ago. I can’t believe they are still trading!!

Doris86 · 02/02/2023 07:30

All of the clubcard ‘offers’ in Tesco. The ‘normal’ price they quote is always vastly over inflated before the ‘offer’ brings it down to the same price you would pay anywhere else.

Holzy91 · 02/02/2023 07:32

£3 for the small tub of normal bisto.

not bisto best the normal one!

Prometheus · 02/02/2023 07:33

Heinz big soup is £2 a can in Tesco! The Aldi version which is almost identical is 79p!

MeinKraft · 02/02/2023 07:36

Forgot I took this a while ago. Imagine paying nearly a fiver for rice.

(The word rice is highlighted because I searched for 'rice' in my photos app and am quite impressed that it found this for me!)

@OnlyOpenMouthToChangeFeet I think it's more "meaty" and less salty

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 02/02/2023 07:37

So many things

Crisps/Pringles/chocs/treats…. Only buy them half price, or not at all

BitOutOfPractice · 02/02/2023 07:38

Needed a quick meal in a town we didn’t know well. Popped into Byron. Two measly burgers, a glass of wine and a beer - £51!

ElegantlyTouched · 02/02/2023 07:38

Local cafe is selling their sandwich of the daybfor £12. Whilst I'm sure it'll be nice, on locally-made bread etc it's a sandwich. Can make one at home for less than a quid.

containsnuts · 02/02/2023 07:42

Small portion of fish and chips from traditional 'chippy' near enough £8!

A 2 pack of kitchen roll. £5.30!

That's something I've learned to live without, also fabric conditioner.

A 2 pack of kitchen roll. £5.30!

Spotted kitchen roll at £7.50 in our normally reasonable corner shop….

hotel rooms in London….£200/30 used to get you something quite nice…now it doesn’t even get you a premier hub room with no windows where you have to take turns to stand up.
