Accidentally left oven on all night, guess how much it cost?

The bulb went in the oven a few weeks ago and keep forgetting to order a new one. I forgot to turn it off last night when I finished using it, walked into the hall kitchen this morning and it was like when you step out of the airport on holiday. Guess how much this cost me?

Eff all😉

BarbaraofSeville · 21/01/2023 11:49

But the OPs comment about the airport feeling suggests that its insulation isn't that great.

Gettingnowherefast · 21/01/2023 11:49

Snowybeach · 21/01/2023 11:50

Sort of thought youd have posted the answer by now. This really isnt as interesting as you seem to think it is.
What temperature did you have it at? Gas or electric? What rate are you on?

These guessing threads are never that good and are only really funny when the amount is massive. Which this really wont be.

jollygreenpea · 21/01/2023 11:50

1.5 million

MikeWozniaksMoustache · 21/01/2023 11:53

Depends what rate your on and your oven efficiency. Would bankrupt me as our oven is olllllld and not cost effect effective to run

~2kw x 8 hours = 16kwh x 35p = £5.60

that’s assuming the element was on non stop. Which it won’t have been, switches on and off to maintain the target temperature.

FluffyUnionSocks · 21/01/2023 11:56

Gas oven, left of gas mark 6 (I think that’s equivalent to about 180 degrees electric). I’m on the price cap rip off prices not a deal, the oven is newish and was A+++ rated when I purchased it 18 months ago.

My heating is off over night so no heating costs.

I was dreading looking at the smart meter but did anyway, the grand total £1.48 minus the standing charge. That was from midnight to 9am. If it wasn’t so dangerous I might do it more often and the down stairs was and still is so lovely and warm.

yousmellnice · 21/01/2023 11:57

FluffyUnionSocks · 21/01/2023 11:58

FluffyUnionSocks · 21/01/2023 12:03

I was surprised it cost so little. I just hope that it helps some posters not worry so much about using their ovens, it certainly has helped me.

My DH has just told me we're not going on holiday if we can get the stepping off the plane experience for £1.48.
