Continuation of previous lifeboat threads 1 & 2 & 3.

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

Such great news that Zahawi has finally been sacked! And so hard to believe we still have up to two more years left for this corrupt, crooked, cuntsoup government to fuck us all over some more.

Askias · 29/01/2023 14:48

One year? May 24, surely?

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/01/2023 15:13

Teddy the dog was profoundly disapproving of orange peel teeth. Particularly if I growled at him from behind them.

MavisMcMinty · 29/01/2023 15:37

They can cling on for 5 years, can’t they? Last GE was in December 2019, the next could be December 2024 if they choose, I think. Winter GEs affect turn-out, although I don’t think the Tories care about that, they care only about clinging to power long enough to destroy the public services we most value. They want power but have no idea what to do with it other than destroy. They’re so disgusting, I just don’t understand how anyone could vote for them now.

Askias · 29/01/2023 16:44

"I don’t think the Tories care about that, they care only about clinging to power long enough to destroy the public services we most value. They want power but have no idea what to do with it other than destroy."

Totally agree. We've been taken over by a bunch of hard right billionaires who double down on every lie. Zahawi now attacking the media.

don't know enough about how they could just decide to hang on forever, but I've spoken to so many Tories (not Rod Stewart) who want them out.

My lockdown picture of 2020 was of this bridge in Canary Wharf, taken in the middle of a weekday

That made me feel quite queasy and light headed!

So, Django has learned how to use the catflap which I realised about an hour ago when I went to give them their last food of the day. I wondered where he was and then he came in through the catflap. Excellent news! Now he can do it Francis will pick it up too and it will be lovely for them. About half an hour ago, complete ruckus. I hear bang, bang, bang, then a feline elephant running toward the bedroom. Go out, can't see Django but Francis is a toilet brush. I go out to see if Django is there because obviously, he must be. He isn't. I turn around and at the other end of the flat there's another toilet brush: Django. They're walking slowly toward each other because obviously now they don't know each other because one of them has been outside without the other and re-entered while I wasn't there. I'm walking back with Francis trying to stroke the toilet brush out of him and as we get close to Django I'm doing double duty, trying to stroke the toilet brush out of him too. They meet, they go nose to nose and it's all "Oh yeah, it's you." and life returns to normal.

Morning, all.

A lovely birthday weekend here, with my kids and grandkids. My darling daughter who lives in Vancouver came over on a ticket from her brother and sister - a real surprise, and the best ever. So we had a fab weekend hosted by my other daughter, whose house is big enough to hold the lot.

I feel utterly blessed. I've never known such love. It seemed to surround us and hold us all weekend. No words could ever describe this feeling. Four children, four grandkids (two stayed in Canada), son- and daughter-in-law, my beautiful wife, my ex-wife. I know how lucky I am, believe me.

I don't know what I've ever done to deserve a family like this. It's one of those times you feel you want to offer up thanks.

Tricyrtis2022 · 30/01/2023 08:12

What a lovely post, angelico. So glad you had such a wonderful birthday, it sounds perfect.

SinnerBoy · 30/01/2023 08:25

That's sounds lovely, angelico. I'm glad that you all managed to see one another and have such a wonderful time.

Britinme · 30/01/2023 10:47

That's so lovely Angelico, and seeing your daughter from Canada is the cherry on the icing on the cake. It's so rare to get everyone together when you live so far apart. It's probably ten years since all my children were together at the same time.

MissLawls · 30/01/2023 11:41

Morning. Glad you had such a great birthday @angelico53

That is indeed a great article in the Observer yesterday @Askias tho Russell Moyle is complaining about it and says he'll raise a complaint with the paper and is urging others to do the same.

Regarding the next general election it has to be held by January 25th, 2025 so yes, we could have two more years of them. However my money's on them going in October 2024. I think that's the latest they can hold out till. I can't see them hanging on till Jan 25 but... I don't trust Labour on women's issues though we have seen some movement. I worry that if Labour wins with a landslide it'll take that as endorsement for its Self ID policies which Starmer has promised TWICE now in a Pink News vid but... by then maybe that ship will have well and truly sailed for which much thanks to Nicola Sturgeon.

weaseleyes · 30/01/2023 12:56

What a lovely birthday that sounds, @angelico53

Kucinghitam · 30/01/2023 13:34

Can you link it? I can't find it. Ta!

SinnerBoy · 30/01/2023 15:05

Ah, thanks. I started to read that yesterday, but the page crashed, then I forgot about it!

duc748 · 30/01/2023 18:02

Japanese milk bread!

Kitchen mania here, as I unwisely embarked on another quiche at the same time.

Wow, that looks good, duc.

Britinme · 30/01/2023 18:33

I am in awe of your baking skills duc.

duc748 · 30/01/2023 18:46

I haven't cut it yet. I just did what it said on the tin. Except 3 tablespoons of sugar made me double-take, did seem a hell of a lot. I trimmed that down a little from 42 g to 35 g.

CyanCrystalViolet · 30/01/2023 20:46

That looks fab @duc748. Can we see a pic of the inside when you cut into it?
