Three supermarkets and not one of them had normal mince pies. They all had something dodgy added like icing, frangipani, marzipan, brandy butter or some other weirdness. I may write to my mp.

I have to pack as going away tomorrow and still have this stinking cough cold thing. It’s been 3 weeks of no sleep and I’m exhausted and can’t be bothered.

LilacLemur · 23/12/2022 20:21

@Tickledpickle

Same here. Mine are older as well so no hope of any eggs lately 🙄

Beachsidesunset · 23/12/2022 20:21

My online delivery had no substitutions. I have nothing to complain about. Grumble grumble.

Geppili · 23/12/2022 20:22

I've got bits of cheap sellotape stuck in my gullet from biting it off when speed wrapping.

evemillbank · 23/12/2022 20:22

I cannot find cauliflower cheese anywhere

Geppili · 23/12/2022 20:23

And this thread just reminded me I need chocolate coins.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 23/12/2022 20:23

The people who can’t find trifle or cauliflower cheese - they’re both quite easy to make.

Blondlashes · 23/12/2022 20:24

Deciding when to pack when we go to see family on Boxing Day - it’s a flight away.

AC2022 · 23/12/2022 20:25

I have no part-baked rolls and no hope of finding any by the big day. Thinking of calling the whole thing off.

OffToThatPlace · 23/12/2022 20:20

Not been paid Sad

Ah that is bad. Any chance it might turn up later/tomorrow.

mamabear715 · 23/12/2022 20:28

I forgot bananas! :-(

Runnerduck34 · 23/12/2022 20:28

Couldn't find any mistletoe.

Bought some fancy napkin ring place settings in sale and now cant find the linen napkins MIL gave us years ago anywhere. There a possibility I may have thrown them away.....

Waitrose have cleared the shelves of all of their mince pies. ALL OF THEM.

Largethighsbadeyes · 23/12/2022 20:30

My Christmas Eve is going to be too busy spending time with my family who I love very much...so I won't have time for an afternoon sofa nap! 😔 (which are my favourite thing...apart from my family!)

I found frozen Cauliflower cheese in Tesco. Also chocolate coins in there and in Aldi.

Largethighsbadeyes · 23/12/2022 20:31

Are bananas a Christmas thing?!

Lubli456 · 23/12/2022 20:31

HappiCamper · 23/12/2022 20:12

@Lubli456 - can you freeze brandy butter?

quite possibly. Maybe not in the posh glass jar. I shall investigate!

Possibly not. It was supposed to be todaySad

Trolltrotters · 23/12/2022 20:32

I couldn't find any roses in the shops today after I'd eaten a tub already a few weeks ago.

I also have to wrap a batbot extreme (DS' present) it's off FB so no box which would have made the job a lot easier

RJnomore1 · 23/12/2022 20:34

No fresh mint in the shops
waitrose cancelled my ginger sponge pudding and now it’s all I want but I can’t find one
where on earth does one buy sugar syrup for cocktails in a rush?

Coxspurplepippin · 23/12/2022 20:34

I can't find a People's Friend annual anywhere so I'm going to have to go into the biiig ciiity tomorrow to WH Smiths. Wouldn't bother but DDad always bought one for DMum, over sixty years of marriage. When he died I took over and can't bear the thought of DM not having the PF annual to unwrap on Christmas morning. So, the city it is (I might treat myself to breakfast out and visit the cathedral).

lightand · 23/12/2022 20:35

Forgot to buy another pack of cheddar cheese.
But we have a cheeseboard.
We will all be fine!

RudeElfTheRainDear · 23/12/2022 20:36

I am on call (I work in IT) and there is a major issue so am sat here organising the resolution of a technology problem which must be fixed. It means I cannot yet really drink the Baileys sat beside me Xmas Sad

No roses been around here for at least 10 days.
I did pick up a pack then as that was all they had, as opposed to a tin.
Again, we will all be fine!
