Continuation of previous lifeboat threads 1 and 2.

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

It feels like an eternity since we've had a proper Yorkshire F&C, rather than just a couple of months.

My Yorkshire DP won't even eat F&C down here, they are a sad disappointment for him.

Kerebus · 25/12/2022 09:33

Happy Hogswatch one and all!

mach2 · 25/12/2022 09:38

Indeed. Should I start the day with beer or tea? 🤔

Dotellhimpike · 25/12/2022 09:39

Ho ho ho and a merry Christmas to one and all, God Bless us every one. 🌲🍾

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/12/2022 09:48

Merry Christmas, everyone! Beer or tea depends on the cooking situation. If you're not wielding the pans today, beer, for sure.

Winterborne74 · 25/12/2022 10:08

A vote for the restorative power of tea first I reckon. Followed by beer.

VicSynix · 25/12/2022 10:22

Happy Christmas all! Started the day with bacon sarnies, strong black coffee and some chocolate coins. That's a balanced diet, right?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 25/12/2022 11:04

Seems to cover all the bases.

MrBint and I have opened our cards to each other ...

aaaaw!!!

SinnerBoy · 25/12/2022 11:26

I started with a filter coffee. Presents opened, cooking started and I've just had a cheese roll for breakfast and have a cup of coffee. I put the sprouts on to boil on Wednesday, do you think they'll be done by 2:30?

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/12/2022 11:26

Nice to have the sentiment fully returned!!

MavisMcMinty · 25/12/2022 12:41

Merry everything, everyone! Amongst my presents from macman are 100 packets of green Rizlas, that’s 5000 cigarettes-worth, and I had no idea you could buy so many. Also 31 Clippits of assorted length. So much better than that year he bought me dog treats to give to the dogs, using my money. Gonna watch the new Mr Queen’s speech for historical purposes. Roast chicken in place of turkey as it’s just the two of us. Much of the day will be spent tidying/cleaning the annexe, as a neighbour's parents are renting it for a few days from tomorrow, then when they go we have a new lodger moving in on New Year’s Eve.

Kerebus · 25/12/2022 12:45

LadyK got me a voucher from my favourite tattoo artist and K-bump got me a decent bottle of white port. I'm a lucky man.

bignosebignose · 25/12/2022 13:05

Santa present mayhem until about 10, dog walk, first beer just cracked open now for our traditional Christmas Indian snack selection. We’ll have the turkey tonight as usual. Merry day everyone. I hope crows is feeling better.

For the scientists…

I think now is the time to check out my Secret Santa beers. Let's see if this oatmeal stout is better than mine! Had to reconfigure on the food front. Original plan was a moussaka today, but with the small detail that I forgot to buy an aubergine, that's out. So decided to go for a flan. I haven't made pastry in literally years! What's the worst that can happen? 😀

Britinme · 25/12/2022 13:41

Merry Christmas! I am just awake and drinking a cup of tea in bed. Going out for lunch so a lazy morning ahead. Himself woke up before me and clearly went down to feed the cats. Unusually for here, it's not a white Christmas because the rainstorm washed away the snow.

SinnerBoy · 25/12/2022 13:41

For the scientists…

It looks like an electron micrograph, but of what?

CyanCrystalViolet · 25/12/2022 13:49

@SinnerBoy it’s Bacillus subtilis..

SinnerBoy · 25/12/2022 13:52

Oh, great! So not an electron micrograph......

CyanCrystalViolet · 25/12/2022 14:42

Here’s some snowflake under an electron microscope instead

I do like drawing things in petrie dishes. Although the EM snowflake is perhaps more traditionally christmassy.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 25/12/2022 14:47

Oh dear. Seem my autocorrect doesn't know its microbiology from its Egyptology.

duc748 · 25/12/2022 14:58

Reasonably successful pastry case, that must be the first time I've wielded a rolling-pin in this house! I figure that's the fiddley bit done now, bunging in a filling is straightforward.

CyanCrystalViolet · 25/12/2022 14:59

Oh well done @duc748! I love making pastry. And eating it obviously, especially puff pastry. What’s the filling?
