To mark a special birthday.

What would you buy?

eelieza · 14/12/2022 19:48

Why does it have to be 2k on one thing

PepsiMaxQueen · 14/12/2022 19:51

My dream trip to Iceland

HeddaGarbled · 14/12/2022 20:10

Holiday

Jackster22 · 14/12/2022 20:13

I would buy a hair topper as I’m losing my hair, perfect fringe are about 1000 so I would buy one and then get a new outfit and a little weekend away

Bard6817 · 14/12/2022 20:23

An experience that will last long in the memory, definately not stuff.

FearofQueefing · 14/12/2022 20:24

Possibly cosmetic dentistry.

If I was going to be totally frivolous then a trip somewhere - maybe Scandinavia - northern lights have always been on my bucket list.

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 14/12/2022 20:28

A new garage door and a holiday

IntentionalError · 14/12/2022 20:33

A holiday, I have plenty of stuff and more is the last thing I need.

LindorDoubleChoc · 14/12/2022 20:37

I had a significant birthday recently. About £2k was spent on me taking me, my dh and my two young adult children away for a 3 night stay in a European city on Eurostar and quite a nice hotel. We all loved it and it was the best birthday present I could have asked for.

There's literally nothing I would want to spend £2k on just for myself.

sweatyannie · 14/12/2022 20:42

A watch or fancy piece of jewellery

DashingWhiteSergeant · 14/12/2022 20:43

A battery assist bike.

FlamingoSocks · 14/12/2022 20:45

Either an amazing drum kit
or a slightly less good one and have a night away somewhere amazing

Athenen0ctua · 14/12/2022 20:47

I'd probably save it for car repairs or if I needed to replace my car. Cost of living is through the roof so it's hard to put anything away.

Boshi · 14/12/2022 20:49

I’d get a horse and a cat. No idea how much horses cost, probably loads more than £2k 😺 failing that a tag watch

AutumnColour89 · 14/12/2022 20:56

Same as @HelloBunny, clear teeth aligners and whitening. Fed up of covering my mouth when I laugh or smile, or posing for photos with a grimace!

Pl242 · 14/12/2022 20:57

Luxury weekend away for me and DH.

C1N1C · 14/12/2022 21:01

Something for the wife. Her happiness is my happiness.

Qwaszx · 14/12/2022 21:01

A personal trainer.

I'm starting to feel my age🙈

CornishGem1975 · 14/12/2022 21:02

Peloton

LaQuern · 14/12/2022 21:03

I am going to get a proper hard time for saying this, as Mumsnet HATES them with a passion, but I'd get another private number plate.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 14/12/2022 21:12

If I had the time as well as the money then I'd go on my own to some kind of wellness retreat in the alps or Tuscany or somewhere. Pilates, nice food, swimming in lakes that kind of thing.

Teeth overhaul

Yep, flight straight to Turkey for a teeth makeover for me!

NewToWoo · 14/12/2022 21:41

Can you get a full set of Turkish teeth plus flight and accommodation for 2k?

HumphreysCorner · 14/12/2022 21:52

I'd like to say buy a passport and travel with a good book but would most likely treat my 3 DC

suzyscat · 14/12/2022 22:07

A cheap harp probably, or the dentist or a holiday.
