To mark a special birthday.

What would you buy?

A holiday for the three of us

if it is to be an object probably a new sofa or a really really good mattress

Diamond earrings

Would second this. I was given a beautiful pair of simple diamond studs for a milestone birthday. I adore them and wear them every day. They always make me feel special

Top of the range mobility scooter, I am disabled though, probably wouldn’t be at the top of most peoples list.

Dillydollydingdong · 14/12/2022 18:12

Electric bike

DuesToTheDirt · 14/12/2022 18:13

Holiday

talomon · 14/12/2022 18:14

A cashmere coat

Floralnomad · 14/12/2022 18:15

A new mattress , it’s the only thing of any great cost left on my list

BarbaraofSeville · 14/12/2022 18:16

Why do you want to know?

Are you asking for ideas, or just asking what others would buy themselves.

These threads always just end up of lists of 'things' that may or may not answer the question. Plus quite a spattering of exclamation marks, the purpose of which, I'm not sure.

I'd probably go on a nice holiday, because the expensive things that I'm planning and would put the money towards aren't really nice things for me (a garden office and new windows and doors).

NewToWoo · 14/12/2022 18:18

A holiday! It would pay for a flight somewhere exotic or a residential course.

myfatisgettingfatter · 14/12/2022 18:18

I'd also like a new sofa .. preferably that one that comes with Owen Wilson sat on it

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 14/12/2022 18:20

A poodle.

newfence · 14/12/2022 18:23

Definitely a trip away somewhere, adults only!

DisforDarkChocolate · 14/12/2022 18:23

A new bed, I really fancy a fancy this one from John Lewis.

I’d also go art and/or diamond earrings.
I got a bracelet for a significant birthday and went off it pretty quickly afterwards so maybe not the earrings..
A rowing machine.
A garden overhaul

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 14/12/2022 18:24

A shearling coat.

Luckydog7 · 14/12/2022 18:25

Oooh
I've deen eying up a diploma and a short design course could probably get both for 2k!

OddSocksAndHollyhocks · 14/12/2022 18:25

A horse :) or dog, whatever is your favourite

mincepiepie · 14/12/2022 18:26

Another watch. I have a small tag aquaracer but want another.

AsanteSana · 14/12/2022 18:28

An antique longcase clock - preferably an 'automaton' one or one with a working moonphase dial - something I have always wanted, but never been ablle to afford or justify

NoSquirrels · 14/12/2022 18:30

If it has to be ‘a thing’ then furniture or original art.

If it can be an experience then a holiday!

Eyeskydry · 14/12/2022 18:31

Cyclocross bike. Don’t need one, just want one. Pure decadence.

iknowhimsowell · 14/12/2022 18:39

A peleton bike

ShirleyHolmes · 14/12/2022 18:40

Art

or a Max Mara cashmere coat, but I suspect that is more than 2k!

IcakethereforeIam · 14/12/2022 18:46

As it's a fantasy £2k, I'm going to snag some bargains and get laser eye treatment and my only janky tooth sorted (the rest are fine). And a pond, small.
