Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

They outed themself and one other but the name they are using now wasn't the name they used back then. It all just confirms my view the board was always too small to be moderated that way. Some of us would never be mods because let's be honest we don't belong in the "in" group.

Gonners · 10/12/2022 22:50

b I should probably have set up a spreadsheet.

Arf, Bint! No, I think we need to move away from that sort of mindset!

Gonners · 10/12/2022 22:52

And oh bollox! I was doing so well with the new formatting until then!

duc748 · 10/12/2022 23:14

I actually did try to start a spreadsheet to keep track of old posters from the other place, but it's very incomplete!

Dotellhimpike · 10/12/2022 23:19

I discovered long ago that no matter the name changes, people gravitate towards each other eventually, so I don't spend too much time thinking about who is who.

duc748 · 10/12/2022 23:19

Anyway, just come back from the pub watching the second half, and it was rammed of course, and an enjoyable night, I like it here. Should have moved years ago. And found some nice people here to chat about K-drama to as well. So all good. 😀

CyanCyan · 10/12/2022 23:54

Any k-drama recommendations? I recently went on a Japanese and Korean film binge, I love getting lost in another culture.

duc748 · 11/12/2022 00:02

Well, as per the thread in Telly Addicts, I've just finished S2 of The Good Detective on Netflix.. My first love was Kingdom, and after that Signal and Tunnel and quite a few more that I can't bring to mind right now.

duc748 · 11/12/2022 00:10

Also, I have just started my first MN thread, in the Film section. Probably a good place to start.

artant · 11/12/2022 00:21

It was Big Brother threads that drew me to GU/JtT and I never really posted widely enough to know about previous exoduses, except to notice people had gone after the event but not know why. This time spotting the JtS thread and it being about a thread I’d been reading (but not posting on) meant I actually knew what was happening at the time for a change and it was ugly and deeply off-putting. I’ve read a bit this last week or so but not much. Don’t think I’ve posted at all though.

I missed you on the gardening thread when you weren’t there, Tricy; I learned a lot from you and Wibble when I started actually looking after my garden (albeit it didn’t really happen this year as work got in the way for a few crucial months). And I’ve found Bint’s and Kuc’s posts great for making sense of science stuff this last couple of years.

I loved the name VaginaRegina!

I have yet to dip into the fillum section of MN but I am a total sucker for Korean cinema. Will look your thread out.

IReallyLikeCrows · 11/12/2022 02:51

If it helps at all I only know a small handful of who you are. Name changes and a black hole in my brain plays a large part in that. I'm only really any good at remembering some of the names of posters I'd like to forget ever existed because they got on my tits in a very big way. I saw a couple of them today when looking at the future thread and feelings of mild rage began so I exited.

Dotellhimpike · 11/12/2022 04:12

Grace, we used to be in way more contact, emails and whatnot, I'm Stewart bloke what lives up north with Gail, when I came down to Brighton to visit my daughter, we met up for drinks but it was a while back now (where does the time go?)

It's OK if you don't remember me.

Kucingsparkles · 11/12/2022 05:24

I don't know who any of you are! I recall there was a flurry of FB friending back in the Paleolithic when FB first became a thing, but I had (and still have) a strict FB policy of "actual IRL friends/family who I can't otherwise meet" - dear school friends from back home, sort of thing. I never managed to get to any of the meet-ups, somehow they always clashed with something or the ones I could have made it to got cancelled.

I find it a bit discombobulating when people NC because I only know them as username but as I do it myself (on MN that is, e.g. I have one for education threads, one for property threads, for fear of being identifiable locally) I can hardly complain.

Obviously after recent events I'd rather chew my own legs off than go to a JTT meet-up, but there are several of you I think I would love to get to know IRL!

Did you ever come to the Reading Half kucing? You remind me of one of the old spitfire crew from the GU day

BezMills · 11/12/2022 07:52

Morning troops!
I am on day 3 of my long weekend with my 5yo dd. So far so good. We put up and decorated the tree last night. Said tree was promptly felled by naughty cat, and it spilled my christmas juice beer. I was quite cross, mainly at myself because durr that was totally going to happen. It was reset and this time tied to a bit of furniture.

Dotellhimpike · 11/12/2022 08:09

Just for clarification, was it the tree or the cat that got tied to the furniture?

BezMills · 11/12/2022 08:34

First one then the other

Patrooshka1 · 11/12/2022 09:12

Ah, that's where you all are.

I have a dehumidifier coming today, the causes of damp are well understood and are mostly down to the human body being 98% cucumber, and it would be a great opportunity to bring back Public Information Films to exlain it all.

@SqueakyDinosaur , it's so lovely to see you HelenD! I often think about that night you took me for a meal at the restaurant in Seven Dials and I spent loads of time in the toilet trying to dislodge food that had got stuck. It was such lovely food as well! Well over a decade later and about twenty years since the whole thing started the problem remains but is under more control now - apart from two visits to A&E and one stay in hospital after one of those visits because 1. a large pill got stuck and had to be removed by surgery and 2. meat got stuck and after sleeping overnight on a trolley in a corridor it eventually dislodged roughly 40 hours after getting stuck. At the second event, the doctor asked me "Why do you think this keeps happening?" Idiot.

It really is so grand to see you. (Gracenoted)

Are you by any chance an OA /TOF kid? (1st Little Bignose is.)

Tricyrtis2022 · 11/12/2022 09:41

That's kind of you to say, artant. I missed Wibble too and would love to know what happened to her. The funny thing about Wibble is that she annoyed me for a time because she was so damned opinionated, but then the penny dropped and I realised that, actually, she reminds me of me and after that we joined forces on the thread. I laughed a great deal about that, how someone can make you uncomfortable because they mirror your own behaviour.

Once the winter is over, it would be good to have another gardening thread.

bignosebignose · 11/12/2022 09:52

The BB threads of old were great - grace, chaz, the sadly departed xbod with his running commentary. Some of my fondest memories of GUT/ JTT.

SinnerBoy · 11/12/2022 10:13

The view out front a 9am today, it's still -3°

It's snowing here in west Oxfordshire. Very pretty. Cold, though, -1.4C.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 11/12/2022 10:15

Hard to believe in this cold, but there could be snowdrops in three weeks. The evenings are already almost as dark as they're going to get - by next Saturday they'll be a minute later.
