Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Remove JTS from the equation and I'd bet good money many of the "ban/purge" crew would have a wider range of views.

Power talks, the rest walks.

Kucinghitam · 28/11/2022 19:42

He's a narcissist whose simply learned to hide it behind flowery language.

The MN regulars on FWR are very used to dealing with narcissistic self-congratulatory pseudo-intellectual self-righteous sea-lions talking utter bollocks. They'll hand him his arse on a plate.

Ha, now I almost want him to swan in and start explaining Butler to everyone. Almost.

murasaki · 28/11/2022 19:53

Butler was one of the tipping points re me applying for the severance. When she was made a fellow, I was nearly sick.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 28/11/2022 19:53

Can somebody help Bodgit find us here? I have no idea what her views are on <waves hand> all this but I do know that she cares deeply about the loss of community, and I have just seen her post (in the context of reading through to find "the popstar post") this:

They didn’t leave because of the threat to close the site. They left because it was made clear on JtS’s thread that some posters thought they were beyond the pale. If you think that women’s spaces are in danger of being eroded, then you don’t really want to stick around in a community where a bunch of men tell you that you are despicable for voicing concerns about it.

They’re not going to return.

Which, you know. Demonstrates a great deal of understanding.

murasaki · 28/11/2022 19:59

Having met Bodgit last week, I can pronounce her as a great bunch of lasses. I'm not inclined to go near the lost thread right now, but maybe someone is? I know she doesn't do a lot of social media.

SinnerBoy · 28/11/2022 20:05

Hi again, one and all. I seriously hope that Xarts doesn't take it into his head to join here. He's already told us we stink of piss, whilst claiming he didn't actually and by the way, he hadn't formed an opinion on it, but we definitely stink of piss.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 28/11/2022 20:12

bignosebignose · 28/11/2022 19:38

Headgear did say he would not be coming over here.

The women here are not constrained the way the women there were in pointing and laughing at him, so I can understand that decision.

TheMorrigans · 28/11/2022 20:35

He was tolerated over there more than he deserved.

dollymixedup · 28/11/2022 20:35

In all honesty I am struggling a bit with the loss of the site. I know it makes no logical sense, but being there was the connection I had with bod. Even though he had left the site before he died.

I wasn't ever a prolific poster, but I lurked a lot and felt part of a community, one that was full of successful and clever people. Everyday a school day and all that. It was somewhere I could turn for understanding and advice.

Plasticfreefantastic · 28/11/2022 20:42

@murasaki I’m in contact with Bodgit and I’m sure she’ll join us if she wants to: she is of course a GBOL.

bignosebignose · 28/11/2022 20:51

"When she was made a fellow"

Butler's a fellow now? Didn't stop the journey at Non-Binary then?

I'll get my coat.

murasaki · 28/11/2022 20:56

@bignosebignose , a very valid point that had passed me by, haha!

murasaki · 28/11/2022 21:00

@dollymixedup , yes the loss of the link to Bod is sad. I wonder how Ethel is doing. The funeral, I attended online, was very moving and yet funny at the same time. I laughed and cried.

Ginmonkeyagain · 28/11/2022 21:05

I think hatters is enjoying himself too much being a shit stirring cunt right now.

@murasaki I was going to go on the Lost thread for a last farewell but the "more in sorrow than in anger" head shaking about why we can't all just be nice people being nice to one another riled me a little, so I walked away. As I have said before, for me it was not really about this subject as such but the principle of the thing. It was a shameful way to treat people.

Ironically it was the Lost thread that helped me discover the BAD THREAD. I already had questions and had ventured some tentative posts on the feminism thread. But someone arrived on the Lost thread one evening full of outrage about the awfulness of the BAD THREAD. Appalled I went to look. And found very little awfulness but a lot of interest.

dollymixedup · 28/11/2022 21:05

Ethel seems to be doing ok, from what I know from twitter.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 28/11/2022 21:05

Glad things are looking up for you, @ThucydidesJTT

I do hope we'll see Bodgit over here.

otraynor · 28/11/2022 21:08

I've been thinking a lot about bod too, and the loss of the last link to him.

ThucydidesJTT · 28/11/2022 21:08

I'm finding the narrative emerging to be more off putting than JTS's intervention.

There is a crisis due to the owner's attitude. No other reason.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/11/2022 21:18

Cor. It’s like Genoa in here.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 28/11/2022 21:22

The owners attitude over a long time. Meeting up with old Mustardlanders here has reminded me of the way Peet and Bob went about setting up the new site when the BBC boards closed, and the care they took to make sure moderation and hosting was fair and visible - and lo! although they are both dead, and the board had to move to a new platform, it's still there. Much smaller than it was, but not riven by the kind of spiteful petulance that is so on display in our old stamping ground at the moment.

I'm a little narked by all the naive cries of 'I never went on that thread, I can't imagine what it's all about'. Is it completely impossible for them to go and check out at least bits of the thread, or will reading words written by women about womens' issues make their eyeballs fall out?

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 28/11/2022 21:22

bignosebignose · 28/11/2022 19:38

Headgear did say he would not be coming over here.

And we find that convincing because ... ? You've lost me.

kittykarate · 28/11/2022 21:22

I'll miss the cat thread, I'd got to know and love all of the cats and slaves .

Kucinghitam · 28/11/2022 21:25

There’s a whole cat board here! And some lovely cat stories.

I suspect he knows his schtick wouldn’t work here but you could be right, maybe he will trot up one fine day.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 28/11/2022 21:32

I'm sure a few of the nuisances will arrive, and be surprised at the lack of sympathy they experience.
