Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Who scared you, Tass? Me? Dubris? Lovely melpomene, who is now here, and I think I've seen limegreen? It's not a monster factory.

And hello to Gracenoted, lovely to see you. x

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/12/2022 10:24

pursed lips, pashminas and purity spirals

That has to be the worst description of the Lost threads I've seen.

I was disappointed by the overall Lost reaction, which showed a regrettable lack of intellectual curiosity from many of them, but a purity spiral it was not. More of an apathy puddle.

<Hides remaining buns>

Anyway. I know this will make no difference to some, but for those who are interested JtS is handing over the board. It will no longer be a single-owner model, and future policies are under discussion. beta.justthetalk.com/userspace/52720/jtt-future/21

TassLeHoff · 05/12/2022 10:29

Ah, the Lost threads? They were mysterious and new ones would constantly appear tricking me into clicking them before I realised, aghast, and marked the thread unread.

TBH I just never really followed them. Pretending to be scared of them was just a bit of humour.

Gonners · 05/12/2022 10:29

Post #15 on that thread made me laugh.

Good old Rosy.

Yeah, just had a look and well bugger me sideways with a porcupine, the same old same old is there from the start. Fuck that shit.

What a beaut! He looks like he knows how to keep a rat in its place.

Dotellhimpike · 05/12/2022 10:45

JtT is a dead site. The latest schism will not be the last, I predict the new unelected, unaccountable overlords Mods will make a minor faux pas which will spiral out of control and see another schism within a year. Board's too small.

I'm not sure there'll be another schism if they handle it better, but it really risks dipping below the critical mass needed to be a viable talkboard.

To be fair, GT and Crabby jumped on that. But there are still quite a few posters who rabidly insist that the women's rights thread was worse than 10,000 Hitlers, and they're not going away.

It's going to be hard reconciling that for anyone who may be tempted back under the new regime.

I've just lost the will to post there given that, and the others who didn't care about JtS's diktat and just wanted to be able to post (and blaming the troublesome thread). It's a question of principle for me (even though I'm not directly affected).

This is Archie. I came home from work one evening about three years ago and he was there, in my house. "Hi" he said, "I've come to live here" and so he has, ever since.

Oh how lovely Pike!

A couple of years ago we had a black-and-white cat turn up at our house and very persistently try to move in with us. He would wait patiently by the cat flap, or by the front door and try to slip in. I wondered if his humans had perhaps recently moved to the neighbourhood and he was just confused - I sometimes see him around.

Nice cat, pike. I've heard a few stories where cats just move in with people.

We were chosen by our dog. We were working in SE Asia and one evening Mr T went to the supermarket and there was a puppy outside running up to people and trying to make friends, but being ignored. Abandoned dogs were everywhere at the time and he was just another one. Mr T did his shop and when he came out the puppy was still there, so he said hello to him. Went to put the shopping in the basket of the bike, turned around and the puppy was sitting behind him wagging his tail and looking hopeful. They looked at each other for a while and then Mr T picked up the pup and brought him back to the flat. When we came back to the UK, he came with us and lived in unbridled luxury till the end of his days.

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 11:29

Gorgeous Archie. What a sweet face

Tricyrtis2022 · 05/12/2022 11:30

Just been to read that jtt thread and there are some repellent comments. It strengthens my resolve to stay away for good.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/12/2022 11:32

I think I'd have had trouble saying no to Archie if he'd decided to move in. Adorable face.

I did say no to ImposterCat, who fpr aboilut 6 months was very insistent that he lived here - would stake out the door for hours. But he has a perfectly nice house of his own 3 doors down the road.

weaseleyes · 05/12/2022 11:35

The old board seemed to rejuvenate itself in the excitement of tech types talking about how to do a new board/secure the old one. I imagine that soon this is all it will be reduced to, which is a shame.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/12/2022 11:35

Lovely ImposterCat and nice pitcher plants, Bint!

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 11:37

Imposter cat is beautiful and he knows it.

what is that rather scary and phallic looking plant, bint?
