Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Lovely imposter cat.

I had a cat come in once and refuse to leave. Unfortunately it became evident after a few days that he wasn't well, and when I took him to the vet he had to be put down. I felt pleased that he'd wisely selected a cat-loving home to give him some comfort in his last days, but that was a very costly and upsetting period for me. I was absolutely distraught.

bignosebignose · 05/12/2022 11:48

Our first cat ownership situation was slightly different in that we moved into his house rather than the other way around. There was a falling apart marriage and the previous family were moving apart and away and couldn't bring him. He came with us to our new house a couple of years later and finally shuffled off to a better place this summer, after almost twelve years with us.

I love your dog rescue story @Tricyrtis2022

Tricyrtis2022 · 05/12/2022 11:56

Thanks, Kuc!

Here he is accepting a bribe to not roll in any more cow shit that day.

That's the pitcher plant. Only scary if you're a fly.

This is reminding me how much I'd like a cat, Archie is adorable! So my laptop is on death's door, but I thought I'd try it this morning and it fired up briefly as it sometimes does, and I thought I'll have a look at JTT, not been there for a few days. Saw the new thread, thought, ah, perhaps there's some hope, but it didn't take long for the hate to rise to the top, did it. Read the interjections by crabby and GT, but then it died a few seconds later. Really doesn't look like anything acceptable is going to come out of there, does it? Despite the work and goodwill of some good people.

Glad you liked the parsnip stout, angelico. If you swing by next time you are in the big city, you can try an actual beer.

The same thing happened to me, when I was a child. A beautiful white long-haired girl we’d never seen before turned up and wouldn’t leave. Her fur was dirty and matted, like she’d been a street cat for some time but she was the most affectionate thing ever. Nobody claimed her and I fell in love. We took her to the vet and they found she had leukaemia, so they put her to sleep. I was completely distraught and I don’t think I’ve ever got over it… I’m welling up now actually 😳

I still think about her and wonder about her backstory.

<goes off to cry>

Bint's imposter cat has great wonky ears.

helenskywalker · 05/12/2022 12:15

I'm not here for a bunfight or to lob anything in anyone's direction - I've not made a secret of the fact that I disagreed with your JTT thread's views. This thread, however, is a lifeboat for former friends of mine, so I just came to say hello. Many of them I will miss. Anyway, will leave you to it - you might want to add "by invitation" to the header.

StephanieSuperpowers · 05/12/2022 12:23

Re JTT - it's good that there is a way for those who want to continue with it to do that. However, I personally would question whether a talkboard for adults that can't handle legal opinions can survive. When you see that the charity commission is investigating mermaids, for example, but it cannot be mentioned on JTT, what future can it really have? There are always going to be developments and topics that can't be avoided just because some people find them somewhat distasteful.

Thread challenge: What's unusual about these lift buttons?

Thread 1 - Lifeboat Muster Point for TalkExiles
CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:24

There is no floor 14

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:24

Or 24

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:25

Or 4

<goes off to hone observation skills>

StephanieSuperpowers · 05/12/2022 12:26

All the 3 buttons have an A button?

TassLeHoff · 05/12/2022 12:26

Yeah, every 10th one from 4 is x3A instead.

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:27

I’ve got it.

4 is a superstitious number.

TassLeHoff · 05/12/2022 12:28

Yeah, in China, IIRC

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:28

Yes. And 8 is a lucky number IIRC?

TassLeHoff · 05/12/2022 12:28

Unlike eight, which is apparently the bee's knees.

TassLeHoff · 05/12/2022 12:28

Snap!

CyanCyan · 05/12/2022 12:29

Gr8 minds…

Gonners · 05/12/2022 12:30

Something to do with sounding like the word for death?

MissLawls · 05/12/2022 12:41

Afternoon all. I'm glad JtT as is will continue for those who still want and need it. I'm pleased for them and if they can cope with a board where Women With Wrong Opinions are not welcome, fine, good luck to them. I have no hard feelings towards them.

And hi @IReallyLikeCrows it's great to "see" you again after all these years. I remember you from very early days on GUT. I was Lawlsie over there - as you can see my username here is a clever disguise!

I like cats but don't have one. So instead here's a photo of my first ever Advent calendar!
