Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Really good to meet moto last night. A lovely evening and came home with a bottle of parsnip stout.

Gonners · 03/12/2022 10:22

Arf! I'd never heard of parsnip stout but a quick Google produced one recipe on a home-brewing forum ... username moto!

druscilla · 03/12/2022 10:23

I met Moto in the Blue Posts pub in London many years ago (he won’t remember). Lovely chap

Tricyrtis2022 · 03/12/2022 11:13

Glad you had a good meet up with moto, dee!

That's really funny about the parsnip stout.

I went to one meet with the GUT gardeners and that was good. We met at Kew Gardens and had ourselves a very enjoyable afternoon. Then there were a couple of parties where I met some other posters, which was fun. It's fascinating to see who people are and hear their voices. I find it easy to attach a voice I think fits to some posters and hearing them speak irl can be surprising.

Winterborne74 · 03/12/2022 11:34

Have never tried parsnip stout, but ever since my granny told me to avoid homemade parsnip wine at all costs, having had to be carried home across the fields on the Wirral as a teenager in the thirties, I've had an urge to make some.

Question for MN regulars.

Is there a way to make it so that it automatically bookmarks the last post you read, or do you have to manually do it each time?

MavisMcMinty · 03/12/2022 14:18

I’ve discovered that if you “watch” a thread, either by clicking the “watch” button or by replying to a thread, it will come up in your notifications and take you to the first unread post.

Dotellhimpike · 03/12/2022 14:26

Thank you.

SinnerBoy · 03/12/2022 15:53

If you are watching a thread, you get an email every time a new post is made.

I remember the Blue Posts meets well! Will you reveal your FU username? A good night last night, very enjoyable. Funnily enough, I was remarking to angelico last night that I've always used the same username (except here), but it does mean the most intrepid detectives can find my stout recipes! Sorry to see that it doesn't seem to be all sweetness and light on the other thread this morning. Hope that can be sorted out.

dolorsit · 03/12/2022 15:57

I've come to look at pet pictures.

Happy Saturday everyone.

duc748 · 03/12/2022 16:03

And I'd encourage anyone to have a go at the stout, it is a lot of fun and not too tricky. Nobody ever has done thus far as far as I know.

I read that in a Roman Emperor's voice!

Veni ,vidi, Felix!

You can turn those off in setting.

dolorsit · 03/12/2022 16:52

Veni ,vidi, Felix!

That made me laugh.

IReallyLikeCrows · 03/12/2022 21:53

Hello everyone. Because it's so long since I've been on JTT I have forgotten a shitload of usernames. I left after the last schism. I'm still in touch with some old users and it will be nice to catch up with others. I probably won't be posting loads and loads as I'm out of the habit of that but I'm glad you've found a place to be happier and sorry that, yet again, the old place turned into a bit of a cesspit. Gracenoted here.

SinnerBoy · 03/12/2022 22:39

I loved your acerbic takedowns, Grace.

Pike. How do I turn them off? I can't even settings.....

weaseleyes · 03/12/2022 22:58

Settings are under My Mumsnet (top right on desktop), sinner

Dotellhimpike · 03/12/2022 23:10

Yep, My Mumsnet - Settings - Notifications

SinnerBoy · 04/12/2022 00:32

Hmm. I've tapped everything and can't find My Mumsnet. I'll try on the computer tomorrow.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 04/12/2022 01:01

On the mobile version it's the little head & shoulders, top right.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 04/12/2022 07:25

If you're on the mobile version, Watching doesn't take you to the last post that you read in my experience, so I "bookmark" the last post that I read before I leave a thread.

Kucingsparkles · 04/12/2022 07:58

Watching tells you how many new posts since you last visited, but links only to the latest (two? three?) of those posts. So if you click on those links, you have may have to scroll up quite a way if it is an active thread. I try to remember to Bookmark the last post on a thread I'm reading. But also I don't particularly mind doing the scrolling-up thing.

Tricyrtis2022 · 04/12/2022 08:42

Gracenoted here

Wow, that's a name from the past. There have been a few times when someone's writing style looks a bit familiar and I've wondered how many have made their way here from JTT. I'm guessing there are quite a few.
