Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

He could be an absolute arse - particularly after he got ill, and his refusal or inability to act on advice was irritating - but he wasn't all bad. He gave me useful advice on some car-related stuff, and kept me company online one time when I'd broken down at night in the middle of nowhere.

Dotellhimpike · 30/11/2022 09:25

From what I remember he was someone clearly in distress, and the thing about being unwell is that it often manifests in you not being a nice person but the overriding sense I always got was a soul crying out in pain. I don't know the details of what happened in the end and who, if anyone was nasty, not sure I want to know either, it's just terribly sad.

Kucinghitam · 30/11/2022 10:00

I agree. He could be really unpleasant at times, but I always interpreted it as him lashing out at the shitness of his situation. I felt sad when he stopped posting, because I knew it meant the illness had finally got him.

ExiledElsie

In a way I still miss bossab because he was around for so long and less annoying than the sea lions who are now saying "but the wrong people have left".

I found him to be quite frustrating, because he never seemed to take any advice, or even respond! I did interact with him on some occasions. I didn't really dislike him and often wondered if he was on the autistic spectrum.

fenderstrat1953angelico · 30/11/2022 10:37

Boss was alright. A pain, like everyone at times, but also a good bloke. I was so upset to see the way he was treated at times.

Splatterwack · 30/11/2022 10:54

I wondered if he was on the autistic spectrum as well tbh, due to the way he responded (or not) to other posters.

Yes, and/or severe OCD, which can manifest as a constant spiral of negative thinking.

MavisMcMinty · 30/11/2022 11:53

I was horribly horrible to him on the day I retired 6.5 years ago and still feel bad about it, but he really ground my gears on his cancer thread.

Kucinghitam · 30/11/2022 11:58

On a slightly more cheerful but still poignant note, it is the end of November and I think the one thread I'll be missing is the Christmas decorating one. I always loved @DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry nativity scenes. I'm going to venture onto the Christmas board for some champion lurkage, I think. (And tonight will get the advent string-of-socks out of storage).

Having just cancelled my JTT account at least I'll be spared the annual Xmas pun usernames. That used to really irritate me.

TassLeHoff · 30/11/2022 12:10

I retired HoHoHoff as well, just in case I was ever tempted to go back

MavisMcMinty · 30/11/2022 12:11

Listening to PMQs. Don’t know why I bother, it just enrages me. I listen for the questions rather than the non-answers.

I have bad news for you… with the ease of NCing on here, there are going to be a lot of festive pun usernames.

Did you have your posts deleted too? I’m considering it.

mach2 · 30/11/2022 12:36

Bossab was rather terrible on Rainey's thread but even so, I do miss him

MissLawls · 30/11/2022 12:37

Whatever happend to BrunoTheCat!? He disappeared too. I think he also suffered from long-term illness. Lives in France with scant internet connection. I hope he's okay.

No I didn't and it tbh it didn't occur to me.

ItsLateHumpty · 30/11/2022 12:45

Hello! And welcome 😊

Here is a beautiful boy we fostered and cried over when he found a forever home.

MN is massive and weird and odd, and I’ve been here years. I’ve read the JtS ‘say what you want…. ooh except that, oh and that, and hmm, maybe easier if you just don’t say anything at all’ thread and lurked on a few others and I reckon you’ll find a home here.

Things to know - threads max out at a 1000 posts (this is good and bad), each thread (try’s to) stays pretty much on OPs point and the FWR threads (www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights) have extra special modding rules - you can say cunt but not cult for eg and AGP is a secret never to be told, as well as other oddities, but is full of wise and feisty and brave and funny women, and well worth a long visit.

Hope I’ve not done a “how to suck eggs grandma” post, couldn’t resist all the animals and a chance to show off mine ❤️

Bruno did go quiet, you're right. I too hope he is ok but fear not.

I am spending my strike day making a massive moussaka from the left over weekend lamb shoulder, 4 stage aubergines take time! And collating himself's files for his tax return, as I promised i would if he cut down the mental rosebush, which he finally did yesterday. Ah the glamour.

mach2 · 30/11/2022 12:52

I want your dog, humpty

CyanCyan · 30/11/2022 12:56

I am waiting in for the oven repair person, who I finally got round to booking after two months without an oven. I thought I could go without one but ultimately caved for pizza and fresh bread.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 30/11/2022 12:57

I think leaving posts up so that some of the uninformed have a chance to read them and see what the thread was really doing is better, but obviously people have to choose what they're comfortable with.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/11/2022 12:57

I have been standing in the cold looking at outside lights with our building manager.

Some new neighbours cut down all the trees in their back garden and now it is apparently our fault that our security lights shine in to their garden.

I asked for mine to be deleted, but they didn't do it

I think they may only delete posts if a person is in danger or similar

You could delete all your posts prior to leaving, I guess

I was in touch with him and have had no news for quite some time; he did come back once and was pretty incoherent so I'm fearing the worst (my full stops aren't working on my keyboard btw)
