My the photos are really bringing us out of our shells aren't they. How lovely.
Going a bit more sombre / serious for a moment:
you can't change sex, even if you want to;
sex matters to women's ability to live as fully realised humans;
pretending otherwise harms women;
women are just as important as any other group.
I think what just happened to us the last few days is what I'm going to call "The Brick Wall". By which I mean, it's the point where you realise not only that what Stephanie says is true (and matters), it's when you realise that that means that you have to reject the Stonewall version as a result. That there actually is no compromise - not in the sense of "this is war" but in the sense of "this is a choice that needs to be made, not fudged".
Regular posters on "the thread" of course know that, which includes the people that engaged, thought about it, and decided the other way from what we refugees did (and who then tended to engage less on "the thread").
I think a lot of the anger we are seeing happen isn't because we are right or wrong or because those people think we are right or wrong. It's anger because they don't want to choose.
I'm not sure I'm making myself very clear (am dealing with the exact same stuff going on within WEP, though there with added financial malpractice fallout) but what I'm seeing is not people that think we're evil, I'm seeing people that resent being asked whether we are so profoundly that, well.
