Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

@TassLeHoff

I'm also abandoning the lifeboat. Is there a formal way to delete or do we just PM Gyrating?

Gonners · 29/11/2022 19:36

Is it very wrong to laugh at people abandoning the lifeboat before it's even launched?

Gyrating graciously setup one over the weekend but the attitude of the community on the old place has repelled me from future involvement. Plus I was not on board with returning at all but wanted to comment on the train wreck JTS and others have created.

ThucydidesJTT · 29/11/2022 19:40

Hmm. PM seems stuck in outbox.

CyanCyan · 29/11/2022 19:45

Checking in. Hello all.

CyanCyan · 29/11/2022 19:49

Oh, are we posting cat pics? Here is my beautiful boy

Heh, snap!

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 19:53

My tortie sisters and their Auntie Dottie, before Badger was born. He’s black and white, so the four of them are really well colour-matched! But I haven’t a single photo of them all together.

@MavisMcMinty what beauties!

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 19:58

Thanks @LoobyDop I recall you as Angel. Great to get the old gang back together.

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 19:59

@CyanCyan Thanks, yours is too! But I have to say when I first met them when they were just a few days old, I thought they were the weirdest-looking ugliest kittens I’d ever clapped eyes on. They definitely grew into their looks.

I just PMed GT and he did the business the next day.

CyanCyan · 29/11/2022 20:02

Sacrilege! There is no such thing as an ugly kitten.

That happens until GT reads it.

Thanks Tass. It's a real shame how this has turned out.

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 20:07

@CyanCyan I’d have agreed with you before I saw these two. There was a third sister, a really pretty silver tabby, but the neighbour who hand-reared them kept that one. The long-haired one looked so peculiar, her fur went every which way in spikey tufts. And the black tortie’s ginger nose strip is off-centre, adding to the jarring appearance.

OBVIOUSLY now I think they’re both beautiful.

CyanCyan · 29/11/2022 20:12

@MavisMcMinty kitten pics??

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 20:14

Sadly no kitten photos, they’re 8 years old and were kittens several defunct cameras/phones ago.

artant · 29/11/2022 20:30

No pets here but animals aplenty in the garden so here’s a curious fox inspecting the trail camera. The small log he’s just finished playing with can be seen in the background.

My the photos are really bringing us out of our shells aren't they. How lovely.

Going a bit more sombre / serious for a moment:

you can't change sex, even if you want to;
sex matters to women's ability to live as fully realised humans;
pretending otherwise harms women;
women are just as important as any other group.

I think what just happened to us the last few days is what I'm going to call "The Brick Wall". By which I mean, it's the point where you realise not only that what Stephanie says is true (and matters), it's when you realise that that means that you have to reject the Stonewall version as a result. That there actually is no compromise - not in the sense of "this is war" but in the sense of "this is a choice that needs to be made, not fudged".

Regular posters on "the thread" of course know that, which includes the people that engaged, thought about it, and decided the other way from what we refugees did (and who then tended to engage less on "the thread").

I think a lot of the anger we are seeing happen isn't because we are right or wrong or because those people think we are right or wrong. It's anger because they don't want to choose.

I'm not sure I'm making myself very clear (am dealing with the exact same stuff going on within WEP, though there with added financial malpractice fallout) but what I'm seeing is not people that think we're evil, I'm seeing people that resent being asked whether we are so profoundly that, well.
