Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

We welcome all on the thread of the damned.

Kucinghitam · 29/11/2022 17:41

Hello @Staticgirl and welcome @LoobyDop Wine

Hello new threaders!

LoobyDop · 29/11/2022 18:00

Thank you, @Kucinghitam. Just to prove my credentials, I have a cat (pictured), a healthy appreciation of the realities of biology, and I remember Genoa.

It’s lovely to see some familiar names, if depressing to hear that things haven’t moved much in the several years since I was on JTT.

That isn't the sort of cat you "have" - that's a cat that has you! Beautiful.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 29/11/2022 18:03

I miss the Archers thread. The one here is great but moves too quickly.

Kucinghitam · 29/11/2022 18:04

My goodness, that's a cat movie star!

Two more robin pics and then I'm off to the kitchen.

The Robin looks at his feet quite often - no idea why because there's never anything there - and I managed to catch one of his offspring doing the same.

It is a particularly majestic photo. IRL there’s less majesty and more bum-washing.

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 18:14

That is a very pretty cat, Looby.

Britinme · 29/11/2022 18:15

I tried to add a photo but it's too big and I don't know how to make it smaller. Damn my untechy brain!

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2022 18:23

Ah, that may be why my several attempts failed. I may try to screenshot, using Snipping Tool.

Nice to see you, Static.

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2022 18:24

And Looby beautiful cat!

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 18:34

And a very warm welcome from me to @Staticgirl and @LoobyDop

I used to live very near Egham - in a place called Addlestone. Which if you haven't heard of you will have heard of Weybridge which was a mile up the road. I lived there when two of the Beatles had houses on St. George's Hill and one had a house in Esher. You may think Egham is full of rich people @Ginmonkeyagain but there are far richer people in Esher and Weybridge.

Anyway Egham is quite nice. It's where Royal Holloway College is. A college that was built specially for women by the pill maker then later philanthropist Thomas Holloway. There's a statue of him and his wife Jane in the grounds and the buildings are sumptuous. Often used for TV. The other women's college Bedford joined with Royal Holloway sometime in the 70s I think. It's not a women's college anymore but it's an interesting part of women's history. Built around 1888.

Britinme · 29/11/2022 18:35

Woohoo! I worked it out. Not often we see these tabby sisters, Reese (bold, brave alpha cat, in the position of power on the windowsill) and Skittles (timid beta cat who took twelve years before she felt safe enough to sit on my lap) in the near vicinity of each other, along with their fake sibling that one of my children gave me last birthday. Fifteen years old now!

Apologies for highly messy desk.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 29/11/2022 18:41

Oh dear, my Boggle Drool & Sneer thread name has been disapproved of - we're not allowed to sneer, in case we're critiquing at a MN poster's house. I suppose there is more traffic here, and the Daily Mail does pick up on threads, so if any one posts, be careful.

ThucydidesJTT · 29/11/2022 18:42

Posting your home address seems a bit risky.

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/11/2022 18:43

Why would you post your OWN house to be sneered at?

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/11/2022 18:44

@ThucydidesJTT well that too!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 29/11/2022 18:49

People sometimes post their own estate agent listings so other posters can suggest reasons why they’re not getting viewings/offers.

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/11/2022 18:51

Oh. I see. Like on MoneySaving Expert? That makes sense.

LoobyDop · 29/11/2022 18:55

Reese and Skittles are lovely. Like the matching poses.

Hi @MissLawls! I remember you from the old days. I was angel43 and various others I can’t remember now. Nice to see you :)

Re the Boggle and Sneer thread- MN boasts a significant subset of posters with absolutely no sense of humour whatsoever, who exist to berate other people. I think a lot of them are Quite Young. Was deeply amused to see someone respond to them in a normal way, but there’s a strong chance that if you make a habit of it they’ll report until you’re banned.

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 19:01

A neighbour whose gorgeous cottage was for sale was approached by Escape to the Country a few years ago, but she turned them down. “I just couldn’t bear to see and hear people slagging off my house”, she said. Apparently ETTC does all the necessary cleaning, tidying and “dressing” the house, though.

Kucinghitam · 29/11/2022 19:20

PSB you can report your thread title and ask for "Sneer" to be starred out? That would be a suitably pass-agg response.
