What do you love so much that you can't understand why others don't?

I hope that the thread title makes some sense.

I was having a chat about this with a friend who is a camping fanatic and who is genuinely puzzled as to why other people e.g me despise it. She's that passionate about it.

I have various interests that I enjoy but I can generally see why they don't appeal to some others but it made me wonder what do you love you so much that you can't understand why others don't share your passion?

Being a housewife (although I’m not one anymore but wish I was).

So many people say they get bored at home. I love being at home and never have enough time to get everything done so could never be bored

So true!

I love:
Hummus
Raisins
The sound of the noisy water feature from the neighbour's garden
Airports
Fried mushrooms (on their own)
Pickled onions in sandwiches

Pistachio ice cream. I go for a double cone of pistachio - everyone says god no it's the worst flavour but god it's to die for!

My other half loves lord of the rings, hobbit, Harry Potter and stuff like that and I cannot stand any of it.

Bunnynames101 · 19/11/2022 18:37

Cheese.

Ihatecocomelon · 19/11/2022 18:38

Running
Parrots
Bayonetta....the ending to the third made me cry so much.

Goat's cheese

🤮 It tastes how goats smell.

I absolutely love it when people cancel plans on me at the last minute, no matter how much I am looking forward to the plans. It’s such a thrill to unexpectedly have time that isn’t earmarked for anything!

Horses. Dogs. Cats. Can't imagine my life without them but I know they leave other people cold.

Wearing dresses!! It’s the laziest and most comfortable clothing yet I always get people say you are dressing up

I only wash one piece of clothing to make an outfit, never have to make sure my top matches my pants , can wear it year round add a cardigan, coat and tights and it’s the comfiest no bottoms or zips around your waist and your lady parts are suffocated!!!

I think i might just buy a winter dress after reading your post

tiredwardsister · 19/11/2022 18:43

The smell of cows, and everything associated with them; manure, silage etc. When I walk my dogs at night I often smell it, I just stop and breath it in. I think it's nostalgia, takes me straight back to my childhood on a dairy farm, for a brief second I'm back on the farm milking in the winter evenings such happy days.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 19/11/2022 18:43

Not being married, I honestly struggle to see the appeal.

Marmite.

Zipps · 19/11/2022 18:44

Dogs
All inclusive holidays

Socialising
Spa days
Dark chocolate
Whisky

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 19/11/2022 18:45

Reading definitely.

It's such a part of my daily life.

Somebody recently said to me "I'd never have bookshelves like this in my house" and then added "Weird"

I felt sad for them not myself, and the rich worlds they are closed off to.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 19/11/2022 18:46

Charity shopping and finding insane brands for a few quid.

TidyDancer · 19/11/2022 18:47

Being alone and having nothing to do. I love it so much.

Dogs. They are the best thing ever.

Audiobooks, but the opposite of the previous people.

Listening absolutely isn’t the same as reading, it’s affected by the narrator, you can’t (easily) go back over a paragraph just because it was nice, or go back near the beginning to check things. If I listen to something I get disrupted easier by other sounds going on. It’s just less immersive.

and... it’s sooooo slow, even speeded up to the point that it sound ridiculous, it’s slower than I can read.

Offal.

Cheap & delicious, and so versatile.
Apart from the usual liver/kidneys/hearts, I love the things that are so difficult to find now.
Brains, sweetbreads, pigs' heads to make brawn etc

Spookypig · 19/11/2022 18:53
  • The Chosen TV series (makes me cry just thinking about it)
  • Cycling (it makes me feel better mentally and physically! I think everyone should cycle!)
  • True Crime (I can’t understand people who aren’t into it!)
  • Weird health foods (I admit a lot of them are weird but I’m so interested in health and nutrition and natural medicine etc, get so excited by it, but most people I know just aren’t interested.)
  • Going to Church (unpopular these days, I know)
