What do you love so much that you can't understand why others don't?

I hope that the thread title makes some sense.

I was having a chat about this with a friend who is a camping fanatic and who is genuinely puzzled as to why other people e.g me despise it. She's that passionate about it.

I have various interests that I enjoy but I can generally see why they don't appeal to some others but it made me wonder what do you love you so much that you can't understand why others don't share your passion?

Audiobooks. Can’t understand why other readers don’t use this resource. I now read and listen to three times as many books as I did before. On 103 for this year and it is mainly down to listening during my day

Me too, I love them! Have a library with over a 1000 now. Don't think I could get through a day without listening at some point, so relaxing.

Wearing dresses!! It’s the laziest and most comfortable clothing yet I always get people say you are dressing up

I only wash one piece of clothing to make an outfit, never have to make sure my top matches my pants , can wear it year round add a cardigan, coat and tights and it’s the comfiest no bottoms or zips around your waist and your lady parts are suffocated!!!

My hot tub. What’s not to like. In it every day esp winter. With coffee and a good book massages your neck

LOVE. A hot tub!

Sleeping in a separate room from DH

he's a noisy sleeper, he snores, he hogs the bed.

I have my own room and it's bloody lovely - decorated how I want it, my own lovely bedding and nice and toasty warm ( DH likes a cold room no heating and window open )

We are compatible in every way other than our sleep habits 🙈

I don't understand why people like salt and vinegar crisps.

What is WRONG with you?! 😂😂😂

ChicaneOvenchips · 19/11/2022 18:16

Bounties and coffee flavoured chocolates.

Reading in the bath. It is one of my greatest pleasures in life but all my friends would rather have a quick shower instead!

Baths. All the way.

Dogs.
I just love them all. Big scary looking ones or tiny scruffy little yappies. My happy place is on the sofa with my dog.

Ragwort · 19/11/2022 18:19

Being on my own.

Also love having my own bedroom away from DH Grin.

Going to Church, love it ... also going to new churches when I am on holiday or just 'trying out' a different service. Have been to three different churches (separate denominations) over the last three weeks ... all great experiences and really interesting.

Loud live Rock/Metal music. Doesn’t have to be anyone famous. I love it, makes me ecstatically happy 😊

Daleksatemyshed · 19/11/2022 18:21

Steam trains- how can you not be thrilled by a steam train? I love the smell and the sound of them. And cats and books and long deep baths but I really don't like salt and vinegar crisps, sorry, they're just wrong!

PurpleWisteria1 · 19/11/2022 18:21

I feel a bit sad reading this thread because it's made me suddenly realise that there's nothing I really love doing. I love my kids and dh obviously but there's nothing I particularly enjoy doing Blush

ShowOfHands · 19/11/2022 18:29

History. I love all history: personal genealogy; local; national; international; military; social; ancient; modern and on and on. My mother is bored rigid by any of it. I've found funny, heartbreaking and shocking things about her own relatives from her Dad onwards into history and she couldn't care less.

I exercise a lot and can understand why people don't like most of it but walking is one I don't get. Walking is free and wonderful. You can walk to places, in places, up hills (or mountains) and down dales. You can explore and feel at one with nature, challenge yourself or meander. Again, my mother won't walk unless she absolutely has to.

Reading.
Steam trains.
Camping.
Baths.

All the above are wonderful.

Wereongunoil · 19/11/2022 18:29

Oh and being alone but particularly sleeping alone. DH hates not sharing a bed and can't sleep but I bloody love it. No noise, no other person, no interruptions.
