What do you love so much that you can't understand why others don't?

I hope that the thread title makes some sense.

I was having a chat about this with a friend who is a camping fanatic and who is genuinely puzzled as to why other people e.g me despise it. She's that passionate about it.

I have various interests that I enjoy but I can generally see why they don't appeal to some others but it made me wonder what do you love you so much that you can't understand why others don't share your passion?

Tidying, decluttering, and organising. Have zero sentimental attachment to stuff but love empty space; always bemused at the hand-wringing on decluttering threads – put it in the bin!

Also: salted liquorice. So delicious! So many friends who have stared at me with watery eyes and faces full of hatred after accepting a piece!

Sleeping in a separate room from DH

he's a noisy sleeper, he snores, he hogs the bed.

I have my own room and it's bloody lovely - decorated how I want it, my own lovely bedding and nice and toasty warm ( DH likes a cold room no heating and window open )

We are compatible in every way other than our sleep habits 🙈

Same.
It's the best thing ever.

I love time alone too. I’m happy to do hotels, restaurants, museums, days out etc. Some people are incredulous that I can enjoy such a thing!

Another history buff. Local history, genealogy and ancient British history.
I research it all the time, watch videos, read about it, attend local meetings about it.
Most people don't seem interested at all.

I’d love that but it’s a huge non-negotiable for my DH so 🤷‍♀️

Being on my own.

Also love having my own bedroom away from DH Grin.

Going to Church, love it ... also going to new churches when I am on holiday or just 'trying out' a different service. Have been to three different churches (separate denominations) over the last three weeks ... all great experiences and really interesting.

Sounds amazing, all of those!

Other things people have mentioned: going away on my own, to a hotel on my own. Silence. Rain. Baths.

Writing letters. January.

Drinking coffee. I guess on an intellectual level I can understand why people don't like it - it's strong and quite bitter tasting. But on an emotional level, it's a small but reliable moment of euphoria every morning.

I also really enjoy a trip to a museum. Yes, the big, swanky futuristic ones but even more so the small, specialist volunteer-run ones with slightly wonky labels. I don't know that anyone hates a trip to a museum, but some people find them dull, whereas for me a browse around a museum and a coffee after is a top day out.

Love history, visiting places, touching old walls and houses. Imaging the people that lived there and their lives.
I am soon taking a job where I am going to travel and can’t wait to get into the history of places.

I also love rodents 😂which people find a bit odd !
