Maybe @MattHancock has Ed Balls as a role model.
Maybe they could do a podcast together:
Hancock and Balls

I haven't watched PMQs but apparently Sunak response to questions about Mone was 'strikes' and Starmer compared him to a blancmange.

Yeah. The train strikes are Labour's fault, even though they haven't been in govt for 12 years
Sunak is pandering to boomers I think, by going back to the 70s/80s as if the unions are evil. Hopefully most people have enough critical thinking skills to realise how ridiculous the idea Labour are behind strikes, rather than 12 years of austerity and the government created economic chaos.

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2022 14:07

Oooh, I hope this one is better than the Gove tip off Xmas Grin

Matt Hancock's letter today to the Prime Minister suggests that his decision to leave Parliament is entirely his own, not least because he has found that "new ways to reach people" in service of a healthy democracy.

That is not quite true. Story coming up later.

Let's see what comes from this

Transport Sec in real trouble over accusation that No10/Treasury intervened at the 11th hour, in fact, to SCUPPER a deal with rail workers. No denial. If this gains traction, it could utterly destroy the govt's comms strategy of claiming greedy unions are being unreasonable. ~AA

I imagine his constituency party were going to get rid don't you?

Mark Harper unable to answer a straightforward question without relying upon obfuscation.

Video in tweet.

Please don't lump all Boomers together like this. It is so horribly ageist. Millions of us were involved in and supported the strikes in the 70s and 80s as well as other causes like anti-racism, equality for women and gay people etc. etc.

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2022 15:54

Next strike announced, Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS)

Border Force guards in England, Scotland and Wales are to take eight days’ strike action over Christmas. Days of strike action taking place on December 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30 and 31.

Border Force Guards? I thought they'd been on strike for years.

Exactly. Politically aware, activist boomers are the reason there’s maternity pay and leave, equal pay legislation, legal abortion and homosexuality is no longer illegal. It’s spectacularly stupid to tar an entire generation with the same brush and it saddens me to see blatant ageism on one of these threads where mutual respect has prevailed since they began.

I very loosely know someone who made a lot, lot more than that. But they were actually running a PPE company long before covid. Just on an very, very much smaller scale.

They recently acquire a large equestrian complex?

As is Mark Serwotka.

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2022 16:08

Ah, Matt Hancock jumped before being pushed

Here's the Matt Hancock story.

The former Health Secretary's announcement that he would not seek re-election came only after the officers of his local Tory Association held a vote of no confidence in him, ruling him 'not fit' for to be their MP.

A letter announcing the West Suffolk Conservative Association officers' decision, seen by me, was sent to the Chief Whip on 1st December, but a copy was also sent to their local paper (the Newmarket Journal) , embargoed for release tomorrow (Thursday 8).

Q: What do you say to people if you interrupt their Christmas travel plans?

Mark Serwotka(GS, PCS Union): "Your anger should be directed at Rishi Sunak, Jeremy Hunt & the Tory govt who crashed our economy.. on an ideological binge, that we're paying the price for..."

It is good to have a benchmark as to what one has to do to lose the confidence of a constituency Tory party.

Have an affair in public office = no problem
Break the law in public office = nothing to see here
Permit billions of pounds in fraud to enrich your mates = crack on
Eat kangaroos wotsits on TV = deselected.

Can they claim for the poor horses heating on the taxpayer the same as Zahawi?

Guess stables could be used as warm hubs

Well if I am ever cold, I kick the horses out of the stables and get warm from the heating in the stables. Doesn't everyone do this?

I have cats. They take the warm spots and I wouldn't dare try to kick them out. They get very angry. I know my place.
