Budget announcements always bug me when they switch between percentages and £ when talking about increases.
When putting taxes up they talk about an extra percent or 5, when giving money back they switch to £.
They talked about more money for education and health. My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is that this years education budget was just over £103b, so the £3b increase is around 3% which is way below inflation so actually in real terms a reduction. The same for health- currently £608b so the £3b extra is actually 1.5% roughly. Again a real terms cut.
Council tax can increase by 5% though which is peachy.
