Some Brexit voters were protesting against the government we had in 2016 and would have voted to remain or not voted if they knew which way the vote would go. The ref was predicted to be a narrow remain vote right up until the day of voting.

And there were the idealistic Lexit voters ( how ironic).

A minority of the electorate voted to leave yet we ended up with the most extreme form of Brexit.

Sickening.

Its the will of the people.

Best for Britain

So far this week:

  • Former BoE’s Michael Saunders said “without Brexit we wouldn’t be talking about austerity this week”
  • Paris stock market overtook London’s
  • George Eustice admitted Aus trade deal is bad for UK
  • Post-Brexit quality assurance mark delayed again

It’s TUESDAY.

Just a normal week in the ✨sunlit uplands✨

Ooh @jgw1 you're GOOD. Are you Dominic Cummings? Nicola Sturgeon?

It gives me the rage when they spout their will of the people crap.

mibbelucieachwell · 15/11/2022 09:15

Tomorrow we'll discover that Kwasi bought a ton of crypto currency with public funds?

ClaudineClare · 15/11/2022 11:05

👋 Still reading this thread but not commenting as feel too disheartened. Dreading what Thursday's budget will bring.

Blossomtoes · 15/11/2022 11:37

Me too @ClaudineClare. Sadness and despondency have replaced anger. I’m just weary of it.

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2022 11:40

I've read today that some people will be helped
I bet it won't be that many though

DuncinToffee · 15/11/2022 12:12

But Labour’s plans will bankrupt the economy....

Confused

UK warned to prepare for 'ruthless cuts', which is a typo just waiting to happen.

Sunak has been saying we should all be careful with our energy use. From a man with multiple large homes. Honestly, the bloody brass neck of him.

Fladdermus · 15/11/2022 12:25

Does Sunak heat his new swimming pool?

Do you not heat yours?

mibbelucieachwell · 15/11/2022 14:14

A fairer response to the huge rise in the cost of energy and one that would encourage more careful use would be to subsidise everyone except the mega rich for a set amount of energy use, depending on the occupancy and needs of the household.

And if the government were really smart 🤣🤣🤣 it would give the Scot government an extra cost of energy subsidy to recognise the colder Scottish climate to be divvvied up as the Scot government sees fit. This would diminish the Scot nat's 'case' that Scotland suffers from governance from Westminster.

mibbelucieachwell · 15/11/2022 14:20

I wonder, though I'm not very hopeful, if the announcement on Thursday actually won't be as bad as they're making out? Continuing their pattern of worrying everyone sick then trying to appear to rescue us (from their nastiness and incompetence). Maybe set to begin after the election so they can be seen to be being fiscally responsible and make the next (Labour) government's job even harder.

Cornettoninja · 15/11/2022 14:58

The thought crossed my mind @mibbelucieachwell but I just don’t think it’s possible. The LT KK debacle tipped the economic situation from bad to fucking terrible - the Paris stock exchange overtook London today. A journalist pointed out that KT/KK did more damage to the stock exchange than bombing did in WWII.

I do think there will be some carefully hidden stuff that’s worse than it first sounds so personally will be watching out for summaries from people who understand this much better than me.

jgw1 · 15/11/2022 14:13

Nope, I'm Swedish, we use it as an icerink.

mibbelucieachwell · 15/11/2022 16:11

Depressing indeed @Cornettoninja . And the thought that after the LT/KK fiasco they'll probably make things worse by failing to invest in infrastructure and sustainable energy projects and cutting public services again is enraging.

Blossomtoes · 15/11/2022 17:04

Apparently the plan is to build a £7 billion war chest to use to buy votes just before the next election.

Notonthestairs · 15/11/2022 18:43

They can feck off with their war chest.

Unless they increase funding for Education & NHS to allow for inflation they are cutting services.

We shouldn't simply accept them setting budgets and then not adjusting them for rises in necessary expenditure.

Particularly given that a proportion of the black hole in our finances directly arose due to decisions made by successive Conservative governments (be that the Brexit deal, lockdown or Trussonomics).

ancientgran · 15/11/2022 20:28

If they give me £7 billion I might consider not hating them, my share of £7 billion - no chance.

Just over £100 quid each. Barely enough to cover the cost of photo ID to allow you to vote.

Too true, as an apology for what they've done it equates to a straying husband being found out and apologising with a bunch of petrol station flowers.
