If you were naming children tomorrow, what names would you pick?

Following in from my “how quickly do names come back into fashion”, I thought it would be fun to say what names we would pick, together with our own age, as our own age and peers will have influenced choices.

I am in my fifties. If I was naming babies tomorrow, my girls would be Lydia and Penelope (Penny), and my boys would be Paul and Finn.

Interestingly, my DD (under 10) calls her dolls very classic names, like Anna, Emma and Rosie...

I’m fifty next year. I’ve been watching queen Charlotte and if I were naming a daughter tomorrow it would have to be Agatha.

A boy I would still use ds’s very unusual family name.

But I had my chance 32 years ago and picked neither

Elizabeth (Bessie) or Guinevere for a girl, Hugh or Bertram for a boy.

Dorothy - after my grandma (dolly for short)
Patricia, patsy, patty

Boys - Luca, Louis
Girls - Sophia, Lucia

I like how everyone has been really nice and respectful on this thread and made no comment on any of the names listed even though some of them are ridiculously pretentious to the point of being unpronounceable

Rosemary or Kerensa for girl

James or John (to be called Jack) for a boy

Early 30s

Alexander and Helena

They sound Irish to me.

In my fifties.

Alice and Francis.

They are a mixture of Irish, Welsh and Scots Gaelic names, one or two with incorrect dubious spellings.

Lucien or Francesca

Mid 40’s - Penelope, Marceline or Elsie for girls and Alexander or Henry for boys

I’m 36 with two DS’s and a DD.

Id have Asa or Otis for a boy and Indigo or Lois for a girl

Early 40's

Boy: Elliot, William or James
Girl: Jean, Pearl, Rose or Olive (or Posy)

My 3 children (2 girls and 1 boy) all named within past 10 years and I love their names too.

@CallieQ, absolutely not a wind up. They reflect my Scots, Irish and Welsh heritage.

Podraig should have said Pádraig, I wasn't paying enough attention, tbh.

I'm not sure why you would think it was a wind up. I am a Gaelic speaker , so I like Garlic spellings.
