So what are your energy bills this month?

Gas - £101.61 for using 82 units. Haven’t even put the heating on yet, we do however have a gas hob and I’m assuming hot water?? Have cut down on the DCs baths (twice a week now). But that’s up £40 from last month with a similar usage.

electricity £149.39 this month, up from £88.61 last month but we did use 150kw of energy more (I’m assuming from the heated clothes horse I used in an effort to prevent condensation, won’t be using that again!

we are with octopus on a flexible Tarif.

ouch 😩

Gosh, ours was £242 this month for dual fuel. That’s with solar panels, which will have generated on the brighter days. Since the weather has turned we are averaging about £10 a day, for both. Fixed in June for 2 years.

That’s with using the tumble drier only when strictly necessary and the air fryer where possible. Yikes!

Decafflatteplease · 01/11/2022 16:55

£200 worth used this month in total pretty Equal split between gas and electric. Heating on for 3 hours total over the month but we have a seperate hot water system so that goes on an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening 3 days a week for baths (other nights are electrically showers)

Electric just the usual things on although I'm a SAHM so lights on alot of the day. Tumble dryer on 1-2 hours a day on average.

We pay £300 a month to build credit for winter

AuntieMarys · 01/11/2022 17:02

£127 for both...actual usage...less £66 from government. No heating on or tumble dryer usage

£160 this month, less the gov rebate. No tumble dryers and 1 night storage on low

shivawn · 01/11/2022 17:10

My electric bill is every 2 months. Recent one was €144 - that's lower than usual but we were away for 2 weeks. The last two bills were estimated and I overpaid so this bill will only cost me €75. That was quite a pleasant surprise because usually when I get estimated bills I end up owing them money!

We have a pre-pay gas meter which is a bit of a nightmare but the charge to replace it is quite high so we're sticking with it for now. We put in around €100 every 8-10 weeks. Our gas is just for the oven, heating (which went on today for the first time this year) and the hot taps. Showers are electric.

shivawn · 01/11/2022 17:14

Meant to add that my electricity provider increased costs by a whooping 40% last month so no doubt my next bill will be significantly higher!

The Irish government is giving three payments of €200 energy credits to every household over the next 6 months so I'm hoping that will cover most of my next 3 electricity bills.

IntrovertedPenguin · 01/11/2022 17:14

Gas - £67
Electric- £88

autumnboys · 01/11/2022 17:17

Gas and electricity combined, plus standing charge, around £80 this month.

Hot water and heating are gas. We haven’t put the heating on yet, as it’s still relatively mild here. Everything else is electric, we have solar panels too.

tonsilitis · 01/11/2022 17:17

£305 per month

Howmanysleepsnow · 01/11/2022 17:17

£122 electric, £22 gas. But DD is £261so we’ll actually be paying £117 more than we used (£183 if you count the government £66). Have asked to drop payment to £200 but they said no: they agreed £231 but haven’t changed it yet… Eon

BretonBlue · 01/11/2022 17:19

These all seem very low. Are they on October prices?

IconicKitty · 01/11/2022 17:19

I'm with Bulb, the bill for both is £103 this month. I haven't had the heating on but I do have a bath every night (yes, I know that's a luxury but one I am loath to give up). I also work from home so in most days.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 01/11/2022 17:25

Mine was £140 for electric and £45 for gas. No idea why mine seems higher than most, we’re in a 3 bed semi and have only had the heating on once to dry some bedding.

Howmanysleepsnow · 01/11/2022 17:28

Mine is October prices. Electric shower, gas for other hot water and the hob, not had central heating on yet just a plug in orbis heater occasionally. Old draughty house and 6 of us living here but being careful to switch stuff off etc.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 01/11/2022 17:29

£86.18 for both gas and electricity during October. (Including standing charges)

We used 285 kwh of electricity and 275 kwh gas.

So a very manageable £20 bill this month after the £66 comes off.

We're on Helpful Octopus Fixed Tariff.

sweetkitty · 01/11/2022 17:31

Electricity £203
Gas £35

5 bed detached house 6 people in it, lots of showers and daily washing machine/tumble driers x 3 at the weekend. Heating has been on when needed but it’s been quite a mild October.

FrightfullyFreezy · 01/11/2022 17:32

130 altogether for both gas and electric, not including the gov't payment thing so I'm going to have to pay 65 by the end of the week. This is based on an estimated reading so will provide an actual reading for next month. Shell energy.

DutchessOfMuck · 01/11/2022 17:33

£120 before the discount was taken off. Scottish Highlands. Three bed semi detached. No gas only electricity. We haven't stopped doing anything that we would normally do.

Logoplanter · 01/11/2022 17:36

£103 for electricity and £65 for gas, both including standing charge. That's from 22nd Sept until 22nd October so includes just over a week of the old prices.

The heating has been on very little, an hour here and there. No tumble dryer but we do have a dishwasher and we got a dehumidifier at the start of October which has been on for about 15 hours a day. It's low energy though. 2 adults, 2 kids in a large 4 bed room house.

I'm a bit 😱 at the cost of the gas just because we've had the heating on so little and the gas for the month before was £23. Dreading when it goes on properly 😬

PruSarne · 01/11/2022 17:37

According to the meter thing we have 50 for electric but not a clue about gas.

ilovebrie8 · 01/11/2022 17:37

I’m with bulb been told we are moving to octopus. Can we choose or look around does anyone know? Bulb collapsed a few months back so been on their standard tariff. It’s seems expensive but the £66 has helped a bit

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 01/11/2022 17:40

Bizarrely used a smidge less gas in October than in September - 785 kWh (compared to 1222 in Oct 2021!). Electricity 340kwh vs 456 last year. So we’ve managed to cut down which is good. Mild October has saved us loads clearly.

Ovo variable; £160.36p this month.

CatChase · 01/11/2022 17:41

£57 electricity, no gas. I don't have a direct debit or standing order so I'm in credit this month and haven't had to pay anything the past 2 months thanks to the grant. Not had heating on yet which helps.

3WildOnes · 01/11/2022 17:42

medianewbie · 01/11/2022 15:57

£301 for both with Scottish Gas.
Normally approx £200/250 p/m but they insisted on reading the meter in person so it screwed up my monthly bill pattern. I've not put the heating on yet, 1 use the w/m 3x wk, no t/d, d/w every other day. I'm not sure what else I can do to economise. My house has no roof insulation - no grants etc to cover & I'm a Carer on income support so I can't do it. I'm cold & scared of winter.

That's seems an excessive amount if you haven't turned on your heating. Have you accidentally left your hot water on constant? Do you have an energy guzzling appliance?

Ours is a over that once we have our heating on properly but under a £100pm when the heating is off.

Hugasauras · 01/11/2022 17:44

We are £165 electricity and £70 gas which is about what I expected.
