So what are your energy bills this month?

Gas - £101.61 for using 82 units. Haven’t even put the heating on yet, we do however have a gas hob and I’m assuming hot water?? Have cut down on the DCs baths (twice a week now). But that’s up £40 from last month with a similar usage.

electricity £149.39 this month, up from £88.61 last month but we did use 150kw of energy more (I’m assuming from the heated clothes horse I used in an effort to prevent condensation, won’t be using that again!

we are with octopus on a flexible Tarif.

ouch 😩

BG SVR here. Have had CH on during day and night s

BMW6 · 02/11/2022 20:27

Set at 19 degrees so hasn't fired up very often.

We pay by variable DD and our October bills are Gas £38.62 Electric nil after £66 credit.

Hugasauras · 02/11/2022 20:29

@Blondeshavemorefun We are high but to be honest we haven't really attempted to cut down as we could fairly easily slash some if we needed to. We use the tumble dryer at least once most days and DH runs powerful computing equipment for about 16 hours a day so it adds up.

@Blondeshavemorefun Although our usage is actually the same as yours roughly! 452 KWh electricity and 600 KWh gas for the month of October. It's just that we have paid the higher rates for the whole month and you haven't.

PinkButtercups · 02/11/2022 20:36

Electricity £45.23 for October.

Gas probably about £20, not linked to the smart meter so unsure until we take a meter reading.

LT2 · 02/11/2022 20:47

£71 electric, £36 gas - Octopus

FACupcake · 02/11/2022 20:53

E.on have made it very hard to keep track of it because they keep messing up and refunding and changing everything, but in October it seems we paid around £80 for electric and £20 ish for gas. Ours is a three bed end of terrace.

MavisChunch29 · 02/11/2022 20:59

£298 for gas and electric, 4 bed semi detached house. We've reduced our usage though, I had worked out it would be £350 if usage was the same as last year.

Still galling that the prices have risen by 67% in a year though.

MavisChunch29 · 02/11/2022 21:00

We've hardly had the heating on at all though.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/11/2022 14:28

3 bed terrace house, 1 school child 1 preschooler- no teenagers so only 1 tv on at a time, no heating, no dryer, no dishwasher, normal size fridge, freezer - £208 on electric and £55 on gas when the heating hasn’t been on. Fucking furious how the government aren’t doing more.

Moraxella · 03/11/2022 14:40

£690 for both. We are out all day and genuinely don’t use much but there are old spotlights x 10 in every room and an old fridge freezer and I’ve given up trying to find where it’s going.

emmathedilemma · 03/11/2022 14:50

Do you live in Buckingham Palace @Moraxella ?? That's a crazy amount, have you submitted meter readings?

Withnoshoes · 03/11/2022 14:55

£20 standing charges and £65 actually energy between gas and electric. Heating on twice for an hour. Our discount was refunded into the bank.

BigWoollyJumpers · 03/11/2022 14:56

£125 all in during the summer, October bill £250 - about what i expected with the price rise and rise in usage for winter month.

palygold · 03/11/2022 14:57

Crikey @Moraxella That's a lot.

Newpuppymummy · 03/11/2022 14:59

£225 combined. Three bed house.

ifonly4 · 03/11/2022 15:03

£91 for gas and electric including standing charge. June/July/August were £60-65. I set the heating to come on if it was below 18-18.5c in the morning and DH switched it off every time when he got up, so it's had about four mini blasts.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 03/11/2022 15:04

£110 for gas and electricity, 3 bed semi, 2 of us here nearly all day (retired).
i refuse to scrimp on heating, I cannot tolerate being cold (heart problems) so we use the wood burner some evenings. Just changed dual fuel cooker for an all electric one with induction hob .
We have a combi boiler, heating programmed for couple of hours in the morning and evening but so far hasn’t kicked in every day- thermostat set to 19°.
I’m resigned to paying whatever it’s going to cost as no other choice really. We’re wearing layers of clothing, thermals etc.

Mydogatemypurse · 03/11/2022 15:08

£170 with £97 for gas despite only putting heating on for an hour on 3 occasions. No gas fire. No baths. Hob only. Doesnt get used daily as i mostly use air fryer and slow cooker. Dreading what it will be like when its actually cold.
We have one TV and 2 i pads that are used daily. Nothing much else. I try and charge my laptop in work. No dishwasher and at the moment no washing machine 😪😪🙄

Caspianberg · 03/11/2022 15:10

700kw electric for October. We had full house of 11 people most of October, 5 bed, detached. No gas here. €122 bill

langos · 03/11/2022 15:21

Moraxella · 03/11/2022 14:40

We bought a house this year with similar lighting. Can't afford or be bothered to change it all so have put lamps with energy efficient bulbs in every room and rarely use the main lights. That's a crazy bill! We are £170 this morning for 3 bed. Home all day as both wfh.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2022 15:27

Wow @OnlyFoolsnMothers again that more than me but we have 4 tvs in stand by plus 3 ff, fish tank and dw

@Moraxella that’s insane - there is no way I could afford that a month

was yours always high usuals but low cost as 1/3 of price

Feelinglikeachange22 · 03/11/2022 15:32

They've just upped my DD to £285 a month 😱. Single parent, small home, but electric vehicle. No gas.

emmathedilemma · 03/11/2022 15:52

@Feelinglikeachange22 have you checked what you're actually using / spending in relation to what they want to charge you? A lot of companies seem to be increasing people's DD when they are already well in credit and not using anything like as much energy as they are forecasting. Get your meter read, look back through your previous bills and do the maths yourself before just agreeing to it.
