It sounds like a urine tract infection with the shivery feeling as you do a wee…

Bestcatmum · 01/11/2022 07:47

I had the same thing with gallstones.
I fit the profile: fair, fat and 40. But that isn't always the case.
Might be an idea to get that checked out via GP.

Septemberintherain · 01/11/2022 08:01

I get this but do have IBS. It’s always worse mid cycle as I get lots of pain during ovulation. Are you mid cycle op?
As an IBS sufferer, I would be in big trouble if I ate kidney beans and hummus! Do you normally eat those types of food?
Could be trapped gas, never underestimate the pain of trapped gas, I’ve rolled around on the floor in agony many a time with awful gas!

Hope you're feeling better today OP. Just wanted to say I know exactly what you mean by the doomy feeling. Getting up to go to the loo at night, I've fainted once and nearly fainted on two other occasions - each time the cold sweats, the slow heart rate, feeling like I'm about to die - it is truly terrifying, I sympathise. (In my case I think it's just something I'm prone to, no other health issues)

Tummytroubles22 · 01/11/2022 08:03

I have this hideous feeling when I’m ovulating. Have been known to faint/vomit. It’s awful, if you feel sick or sweaty during the night have something to eat incase your blood sugar is low.

Rhondaa · 01/11/2022 08:03

It is quite common to drop your BP when you get cramps and suddenly need to open your bowels. That causes dizziness, chills, weird faint like feelings (syncope/vasovagal)

If it happens again just get your head between your knees to get the blood back to your brain, or lie on the floor bed whatever, take some deep breaths amd calm down. If it passes as if did, fine. If it doesn't them seek medical advice

LaGioconda · 01/11/2022 08:05

As you had Hummus, I'm wondering about allergy to sesame.

Bordesleyhills · 01/11/2022 08:06

Gallstones ?

naomi81 · 01/11/2022 08:11

I've been up all night with sickness and diahorrea, thanks nursery! I am on my own with little one today , she ran in and jumped on my bed at 5.30am, near threw up. I've just handed her the iPad whilst I try and get myself sorted. She was poorly yesterday and says she feels much better so she will be at nursery this afternoon whilst I sleep 😴 hope your feeling much better this morning xx

Ostryga · 01/11/2022 08:15

Bless you op, glad you’re feeling better. Definitely get checked out today. Ask for an ultrasound of your pelvic area because to my limited medical knowledge it does sound like an ovarian cyst could have burst. They are excruciating and then there is pretty instant relief.

Hope you’re on the mend.

Lalliella · 01/11/2022 08:26

You need to push for a scan. There’s lots of things this could be, but if it’s a burst cyst or gallstones you’ll need medical attention. Hope you get it sorted OP Flowers

MrJi · 01/11/2022 08:27

Sounds so frightening Op, I am glad the pain has eased up and that you are seeing the GP today.
Kidney issues like stones or infections can give that doom feeling, along with shakiness and faintness.
Agree with pp also could be an ovarian cyst.

mam0918 · 01/11/2022 08:30

Could be lots of things, it could also be 'non obvious' things.

I have recurrent kidney infections from past acute kidney injury that present like you discribe.

It starts out of now where as a painful urgency to pee, the pain doubles by the second so you have to pee within like 10 seconds and as soon as you do the pain hits peak, cold sweat drenches my entire body and then sometime I throw up, pass out or in bad cases have a seizure.

Because the pain is lower down and forwards (more commonly on the right but occurs at both sides) doctors always INSIST its not my kidney dispite the fact it always happens hand in hand with my kidneys acting up... long story short I have had lots of ovary scans and no longer have what was my perfectly healthy appendix but STILL have kidney pain doctors dont take seriously (they treat the infection but insist the pain is unrelated).

I know where my kidneys are but have NEVER had mid level back pain with my kidneys ever, the pain presents in the ureter (the tubes that travel from the kidney to the bladder) so a completely different place in the body.

fabfifty4 · 01/11/2022 08:34

Gallbladder possibly. I had this and your symptoms sound similar. Pain builds up almost like labour pains, I felt nauseaus and feverish at the same time.

MS302 · 01/11/2022 08:37

Never eat salad, there can be bugs lurking on it

Sunshinebug · 01/11/2022 08:39

Gallstone and kidney pain can come and go if there is only a partial blockage. The thing my hospital says to me (I get blockages sometimes in bowel and kidney stones) is that actually vomiting is a sign for me to go in to A&E. Or of course if the pain is unbearable and not managed with basic painkillers. It’s amazing how many people go to A&E who haven’t tried over counter pain relief.

Propertyporn · 01/11/2022 08:40

I have an appointment at 10:45, quite impressed at how quickly they booked me in.

I think the pain is too low for gall bladder. I think it could be either ibs or kidney stones as the pain was also in my back. My lower abdomen has felt tender for a while but I put it down to the red wine I had on Friday night.

💐 for everyone struggling with painful health issues.

How scary for you. Hope you get some help at the doctors.

No sex for over 4 years so unlikely to be a std, although not impossible.

I've had cold sweats and pain from diarrhoea before, but this was completely different. I didn't have gurgling belly, diarrhoea or even a bowel movement. It feels as if all of my lower abdomen is inflamed and sore (similar to the appendicitis). When I sat on the toilet to wee, I suddenly felt extremely cold amd had that going over a roller coaster feeling. I felt faint and went and laid down and started sweating like crazy. It all passed after about 10 minutes and I was shaky afterwards. This morning I feel like I've been beaten up, brain fog, lower belly still sore and swollen. I'm not usually a drama queen but as I said, the doom feeling caught me by surprise.

Also my kidneys issues come on instantly and then ebb and fade away within 15 minutes of the peak... its part of the reason its not taken seriously because by the time help gets there theres no sign it happened.

I have had witnesses in tears and teachers/receptionist freaking out when it happened at school once and yet the paramedics refuse to believe it happened because 45 minutes later (when they finally showed up and saw me so 30 minutes after symptoms stopped) my stats where completely back to normal and I felt ok again.

Like yes my 14 year old ass was such a convincing actress that I could fake a drenching cold sweat (clothes where soaked through all over) and seizure enough to convince a dozen people including adults.

Mischance · 01/11/2022 08:43

IBS can be excruciating. It is like cramp in your leg, which we all get sometimes, only in your belly - it can make you vomit. I am glad you have an appointment to rule out anything life-threatening.

I am amazed you got an appointment - 2-3 weeks wait round here!

5yearplan · 01/11/2022 08:44

I know someone who had E Coli from hummus. It was an outbreak reported across the country.

Igmum · 01/11/2022 08:46

Hope you're feeling better OP and sending hugs

stealthninjamum · 01/11/2022 08:47

Sorry I missed this post last night but hope you’re feeling better.

Herejustforthisone · 01/11/2022 08:47

The nausea, head swimming and cold sweats sounds like a vasovagal response to severe abdominal pain. Pretty common but really unpleasant.

jennakong · 01/11/2022 08:49

I had appalling intestinal pain about a year ago I strongly suspect from eating soy beans in a salad, apparently they are toxic if not prepared properly. I am wondering about the kidney beans, which have always had a name for that? Have you checked the tin for dates etc, or maybe you just had a rogue batch?

My reaction was just as you describe - an absolutely crushing, bowel wrenching pain that actually travelled as far as my chest and made me fear for my heart! Hope you're okay OP.
