*feeling of impending doom

Propertyporn · 01/11/2022 06:02

Good morning everyone. I managed to get some sleep but, my god, I've never had such weird dreams. Proper fever dreams and constantly thought I'd died and was now in the afterlife. I still feel shaky and weird and like I have a fever, so I'll be off to the doctors today. Thank you to everyone that took the time to post.

Could be IBS. You can get horrendous cold sweats and numb legs with that

@Propertyporn good luck at the doctor's today. So sorry to hear you felt so unwell. If panic and fear and a sense of soon come in the early hours it can be very very distressing. Good luck.

Crucible · 01/11/2022 06:24

Doom......not soon.....DOH.

lifeinmidthirties · 01/11/2022 06:26

My moneys on a kidney stone op, I hope you get it sorted.

If it is, it's best to be seen by a urologist as they will be able to check the size of it and let you know if it can pass on its own.

Don't let gp dismiss you because the pain has settled, pain with stones comes and goes. The worst is usually as it leaves the kidney

FabFitFifties · 01/11/2022 06:28

IBS causes cold sweats and horrific pain after opening bowels, usually as a second evacuation makes it's way down. Then passes. Not fever though. Hope it was a one off for you OP.

Dolphinnoises · 01/11/2022 06:31

I have heard that a feeling of doom can indicate a severe allergic reaction. It doesn’t sound like it matches the symptoms but just adding a voice to say don’t leave it out when you talk to your doctor

tulips27 · 01/11/2022 06:38

Hope you feel better soon, the intensity of all the things people suggested like food poisoning and kidney stones can be shocking.

If you think it was the kidney beans, please do report it so they can be recalled.

tulips27 · 01/11/2022 06:40

I'm surprised 111 didn't send you to A&E to check for appendicitis.

BatsAtHome · 01/11/2022 06:40

Degenerating fibroid as a possibility. If it's degenerated it shouldn't give you any more grief but insist on a scan.

I've had my appendix out. I did tell them the pain and sweating felt similar.

Red kidney beans contain toxic phyto compounds that are present to prevent the bean being eaten before it has had a chance to germinate. I get that they are tinned and thus should be Ok but maybe you were unfortunate to have some that weren't quite cooked enough?

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 01/11/2022 07:02

I thought that even tinned kidney beans need to be cooked before being eaten?

ValerieDoonican · 01/11/2022 07:10

I get that cold sweat and end of the world feeling when I am about to faint - for me, usually associated with vomiting (yes, that can end up as unfortunate as it sounds 😭). I think it is something to do with the vagus nerve, affected when you have strong abdominal pressure/cramps. I assume you have also had diarrhoea?

Very much hope you feel better today, what an awful experience.

Gobimanchurian · 01/11/2022 07:21

A friend had this kind of pain and passed out on the loo. Her partner had been unfaithful and had given her gonnorhea. He had himself treated and just ‘hoped’ she hadn’t got it so didn’t tell her. Even if it’s passed now, do get yourself checked out. Hope you are ok x

Bestofthree · 01/11/2022 07:25

So scary :( poor you OP..

Propertyporn · 01/11/2022 07:29

No sex for over 4 years so unlikely to be a std, although not impossible.

I've had cold sweats and pain from diarrhoea before, but this was completely different. I didn't have gurgling belly, diarrhoea or even a bowel movement. It feels as if all of my lower abdomen is inflamed and sore (similar to the appendicitis). When I sat on the toilet to wee, I suddenly felt extremely cold amd had that going over a roller coaster feeling. I felt faint and went and laid down and started sweating like crazy. It all passed after about 10 minutes and I was shaky afterwards. This morning I feel like I've been beaten up, brain fog, lower belly still sore and swollen. I'm not usually a drama queen but as I said, the doom feeling caught me by surprise.

I get this sort of pain and sweats from trapped wind / stomach cramps with IBS. It’s awful and I normally have to sit on the loo until it passes. Colpermin is mint oil in a capsule and if mine is bad I take that for a few days. Savers and boots sell it.

FamilyTreeBuilder · 01/11/2022 07:38

Propertyporn · 01/11/2022 03:00

Yes nauseous and having hiccups

Would bet it's gall stones. That's exactly how I felt and it's awful, far worse than childbirth pains.

Hope you're feeling OK this morning OP.

PortalooSunset · 01/11/2022 07:38

I know everything these days is 'probably covid' but I was like that (down to it happening in the middle of the night) the day before I tested positive. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Shitfather · 01/11/2022 07:38

I hope motivate ok OP - it’s scary when it happens.

I’ve had this in 3 different scenarios:

  1. after eating Quorn - intense stomach cramps, sweating, feel suddenly weak, low blood pressure, feel faint. The only thing that helps is to pass an insane amount of gas, to poo, and purposely make myself vomit. Quorn is poison to my body.
  2. I thought I was having a miscarriage - exact same scenario that you mentioned. No bleeding but lower abdo pain was intense. I was taken to A&E. After I passed wind, I felt fine BUT scans revealed I had ovarian cysts. I think the pressure on my ovaries cause a lot of pain.
  3. Gall bladder issues - intense pain in abdo area. Not sure what triggered it but scans showed hall stones.

What is your gynae health like? Any uterine, ovarian or period issues eg endometriosis?

Shitfather · 01/11/2022 07:39

Sorry for the typo - I meant I hope you are ok!

SpaceshiptoMars · 01/11/2022 07:41

Might be an ovarian cyst. They can burst and leave you very tender in the abdomen. (But still functioning OK!) Don't play down the symptoms to the gp and make sure they physically examine your sore abdomen.

They do. Or they can make you really poorly. I'd rather eat medium rare chicken than uncooked or undercooked kidney beans. They're literally toxic.
