Who was that woman with Rishi Sunak just now at the palace?!

Is anyone watching the live news of Sunak going to meet the King? I just wondered who that woman was who was travelling with him and shook the hand of the man at the palace?! It wasn't his wife! The woman who got out the car looked like she was off on her commute or something! Carrying loads of random bags and wearing a puffa jacket!

I bet Akshata Murthy is furious at the BBC.

I thought the same. Why drag all those bags in with you? I thought it was a strange choice of outfit given you know your image is being beamed all over the world.

It's also not really cold enough for a puffa jacket.

The weirdest thing about that woman is the fact she is wearing a puffa jacket and scarf when it is 18 degrees in London today. I'd be roasting.

And you'll see those mums a bit more dressed up some days, to give a big presentation or have an interview, I think most of them would dress up a bit to go from the school run to the palace with the incoming PM on live TV being beamed around the world??

(I'm a Labour voter by the way so no vested interest in Sunak, but I believe he has more integrity than Boris anyday - not difficult).

I was going to defend the rando woman but having seen the video, that is not a good look to go to the palace, or even to any office job. I dress smarter than that to pickup my kid from school and I’m currently in PJs. 👀

Whoever she is, she works closely with the Prime Minister so perhaps wear something formal for his first day in office. It’s about showing respect for the situation and the institution.

I assume she was planning to stay in the car and didn’t expect to be on camera, but it isn’t a good look to be with the Prime Minister at all.

Why did I think Rishi was really tall? I was surprised at the pics with the King, as he looks shorter than Charlie. I thought Rishi was about 6'2.

Apparently it's his principal private secretary that is with him.
