Anyone else totally wiped out by Covid jabs?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 21/10/2022 09:11

Had my 4th on Monday.

Still got temperature, headache, wobbly legs.
The other 3 put me out of action for a week each time, as this probably will.

Yet when l had Covid l felt crap for a day. No temperature, no wobbliness.

But each jab seems to destroy me😟

What do you think the mechanism of action was that caused that?

Maybe it was similar to my post menopausal cousin who started bleeding so heavily afterwards that she could barely leave the house and the doctors answer was to just put her on a large dose of iron tablets..

Or maybe like 2 young child free midwives I know who temporarily lactated afterwards...

Or the young mum down school who is a nurse and now has such bad seizures/shakes she's been told she'll never work again...

ginslinger · 21/10/2022 21:51

I had covid and flu together, absolutely fine, slight ache in my covid arm but nothing to inconvenience me.

Amarette · 21/10/2022 21:52

I was really ill after my 4th - Moderna spikevax. Headache, fatigue but crippling joint pains were the main thing. And I still have joint pain 2 weeks later. Have filled in yellow card as I think it is actually reactive arthritis.

I also had a bad reaction to 1st vax - AZ. No reaction after 2nd AZ or Pfizer booster.

I would still rather have the vaccine than get covid unvaccinated. I know too many people with heart problems/liver damage/long covid after getting covid unvaccinated.

Oh and had flu jab a week ago - no side effects at all.

Please remember that the reason you sailed through Covid was BECAUSE of the jabs.

I never had any effects from the previous three but this one I was exhausted and still feel a bit nauseous a few days on. I would take this happily than risk serious illness with Covid having watched friends family and colleagues suffer greatly.

I'd love for you to explain how you think you could possibly know this.

To match your 'anecdota'
In my family I know of 14 people haven't had any of the jabs at all, including an 80 year old, a 75 year old and multiple middle aged.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/10/2022 21:59

I had Astra Zeneca for one and two. I was 100% fine both times; dh felt wiped out after the first.

We had Moderna for the third both fine.

We had Pfizer for the 4th. It made us both feel very tired within a few hours - OK the following day but not tip top. I had a paracetamol worthy sore and painful arm. There was a quite large red throbbing raised circle about 1.5in in diameter where the injection went in. Quite unpleasant after 24 hours. Took about three days to resolve and became itchy. Looked and felt a vit like a bad mozzie bite although they don't give you a painful arm.

I was surprised.

@mavismorpoth I agree with you. I've had all my jabs and third booster, as have my children. I'm not an anti vaxxer. I couldn't wait to have them! But now number four? When does it end? We've also had covid despite being vaccinated, and felt pretty rough with it. Seems standard according to this thread. I just don't get what happens now. Do we just keep on having vaccinations & still catching Covid - albeit apparently more mildly, forever?

I'm very sorry to hear that and I hope you find the best course of action for your own future.

mavismorpoth · 21/10/2022 22:20

More mildly than what? I tongued a guy with a positive test for an incredibly contagious and dangerous virus and nothing happened. Did you have covid more mildly than that?

The jab is meant to improve your chances 80% and that's being generous. What's 80% more than basically nothing which is most people's risk of complications from it already?

elephantseal · 21/10/2022 22:44

simbobs · 21/10/2022 21:09

I believe they are recommending a week between jabs.

Nonsense. 6-week-old babies have their 5-in-1 jab - why wouldn't adults be able to have 2,jabs at the same time?! 🙄

elephantseal · 21/10/2022 22:46

ShakeYourFeathers · 21/10/2022 20:17

I had a flu jab on one day and 4th covid the next. I had a bad cold the following week, which was important to shake. It could well have been a cold I caught from someone but it was a bit of a coincidence.

Not really. We're in prime cold season.

elephantseal · 21/10/2022 22:47

XenoBitch · 21/10/2022 20:01

The only people I knew who were wiped out were those who had the flu jab at the same time.

I hope anyone still feeling rough feels better soon.

I wasn't. Dh, my elderly parents and I all had both. No side effects at all.

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 21/10/2022 22:49

I had covid prior to jabs less than 24hrs of feeling rough then 2 days of feeling tired but still cracked on with housework, kids etc just needed a nap in the afternoon.

Had 2 jabs. And fuck me i was rough thats what made my mind up for no boosters. I couldn't even look after the dcs and that's never happened, even after major surgery.

ChakaKhanfan · 21/10/2022 22:54

I had the first two jabs, and then the booster last year. I am getting texts again to have another one but I’m not going to. I’ve had covid twice and been pretty ill twice, but after each jab, I’ve had months of excruciating periods, I leaked through jeans and would have to change my clothes. It was awful, my GP said it wasn’t related, but I’ve been having my period for 20 years, i know what’s normal for me, and the vaccine made me really suffer. I would rather have covid again than deal with it messing with my menstrual cycle, and potentially my ability to conceive.

Anydaynowonewouldhope · 21/10/2022 23:03

@mavismorpoth i am not a scientist or doctor so not sure why it might have disrupted my cycle.

i was very pleased to have the choice to have a booster though.

I understand that I still have a risk of suffering serious short or one term effects if I catch Covid but the research indisputably shows that the chances of this are less if vaccinated then not vaccinated. Earlier vaccines continue to protect against serious disease but the booster strengthens the immune response.

ShakeYourFeathers · 21/10/2022 23:17

Not really. We're in prime cold season.

Whilst I understand this, it didn't have the same trajectory as a usual cold. And no one else in my family got it. Whereas with a cold it normally goes through the house like wild fire

MsPrism · 22/10/2022 06:52

I had my 4th yesterday am with flu vaccine and I feel fine. Achey arms but none of the fluey side effects I had with the other Habs. Am amazed but pleased. I took paracetamol throughout the day.

knittingaddict · 22/10/2022 06:55

I thought I was having a bit of a reaction to the latest one this week. Turns out I caught a cold from my grandson instead. 🤧

Maybe, but my grandson had a cold and I caught it because we travelled in a car with him while he was coughing away. My daughter, who obviously lives with her child hasn't caught it all. Her other child has just started having symptoms. My husband had the same amount of contact as me with our grandson and he is fine too.

Like I said, I thought mine was a reaction to the jab, but it was just a coincidence.

No one who has had all the jabs knows how they would react without having had them. I have not had any boosters and had Covid two months ago. I got over it more quickly than other household members who had had a booster. We’re all being told we will virtually die without these boosters. I just don’t believe it to be the case. I prefer to accept I will get Covid probably every year and rely on my own immune system. a booster every year full of toxins is not an easy option.

What research has shown this? Considering nearly everyone has been vaccinated, how can this possibly be established?

KeyboardBotherer · 22/10/2022 07:09

I had covid booster (Pfizer) and flu jab together last week. No reaction other than slightly sore arm on the covid side.

megletthesecond · 22/10/2022 07:11

Me and teen DS didn't have a single side effect from any of our jabs. Whereas poor teen DD was rough after her covid and flu vaccines. We are much healthier than she is though.
Got my covid booster next Friday so I hope my luck continues.

BalticTellin · 22/10/2022 07:23

I had my fourth Covid jab in September (Moderna Spikevax). I had a sore arm and armpit for two days, no other symptoms. I also had Moderna for my third and that wasn't too bad either, I felt slightly unwell for 24 hours but nothing to stop me doing anything - I took some paracetamol and then went swimming and carried on as usual.

I have had the flu jab every autumn for the past 20 years (asthma) and I'm happy to now have the Covid jab every year too. I had them a week apart because I don't want both arms sore at the same time.

I've never had Covid as far as I know, although I may have had it very mildly without realising as I have very rarely tested.

Mindymomo · 22/10/2022 07:32

I had my 4th yesterday Pfizer, slightly sore arm and average headache today. Thought it would knock me out like the previous 3 I’ve had, had flu jab Tuesday no side effects at all. I am pleased to have the extra immunity over the winter months.
