Fuck! I'm high. NORMAL?

So I got high as a teen by smoking it. Never smoked if for 15 odd years. Recently started using edibles for pain (I have lupus). No worries. Taken half a few times. Starting taking whole ones about 2 weeks ago, last one Friday. Took one about 7pm tonight and felt good but fine, pain helped, as usual. But then suddenly as of about 9pm I am SO FUCKING HIGH. Like, SuperHans-high. I've eaten about 12 penguins bars and a six pack of veg crisps meant for the kids packed lunch. My husband is here and thinks this is HILARIOUS. I'm headed for the whole block of cheese in the fridge door and laughing my arse off at Gavin and Stacey on iPlayer.

Is this normal? I've never had this while taking edibles before for the past month or so.

I've never done drugs (apart from alcohol) but I did get accidentally high once.
I'd gone to visit a friend and she, her DP and his friend were all 'rolling their own' - the haze in the room was purple, to say the least, but not an unpleasant smell.
Hadn't realised that it had affected me until I drove to the Chinese afterwards and ordered half the shop! I went home, ate my body weight in take-away and slept well into the next day!

THC is fat soluble, which is why it can seem more potent in butter. I used to melt an eighth into a pack of butter in the microwave, let it solidify again and then just bake biscuits or brownies as a normal recipe. That was a different life back then. Way better than smoking.

Also can't believe you can buy edibles on the non-dark usual web! But I'm in Australia and the border protection here is full on, too scared to do it. A friend in Canada sent me a whole hot smoked salmon and I got a very nasty letter instead. Wouldn't risk it with this!

I make my own. It’s been legal here since 2012 so it has no air of exoticism about it. No one brags about it. It’s just part of life like alcohol. Making edibles here is no different from making wine. Buying marijuana is like buying a bottle of wine.

I’m far too much of a fanny to actually buy any in the UK. More power to those that do though. I’m pretty sure it’s less dangerous than the booze I used to drink far too much of, with the blessing of the powers that be.

This is fascinating. When I was young and it was illegal we all smoked weed. Now it’s legal (in Canada) there’s shops everywhere, it’s highly regulated, and edibles have a very precise amount of cbd & thc, you choose how much you want each gummy or square of chocolate to have and what flavor you’d like. The idea of the intensity being a bit random sounds both fun and potentially a nuisance.

Some of us absolutely can write fairly well whilst absolutely out of our trees, in my case these days thats on prescription medication and severe sleep deprivation but same same - weed never stopped me typing.

Now playing the drums whilst stoned... no, I thought I could, but on hearing the recordings, I most certainly could not.

I living in the US where anything and everything is available in shops that will even deliver. 😂

Dh and I went to Amsterdam once and I took several drags not realising the strength of the ready rolled… not that I ever was a real consumer. I was in the gutter in the rain 10mins later unable to move. Powerful stuff! How are you feeling op?

I used to smoke a lot when I was younger and absolutely loved it. But it got to the point where I’d never giggle off it as I was so used to it.

I had to stop because it really messed with my MH (and waistline).

I’d love to do it again just for the uncontrollable giggles but I don’t want to risk either my mental health or my waist line by getting the munchies.

Im glad i found this thread, hope you've stopped eating by now OP 🤣. My friend made me the most amazing flapjacks a few months ago. We all just sat in the garden laughing all night, really good fun. I don't drink anymore so will have to ask her for the recipe for Xmas day. I've got a houseful coming so will need a little more than non alcoholic beer to get me through

I need something to help me sleep, I get wakened after 3 hours.

Can you put the vital ingredient into something soft like custard or yoghurt. My OH has esophagous cancer and can't eat solid things.

Mine gets weirdly better. I used to get stoned at lunchtime at six form, so maybe it puts me back in learning more 😁.
