I'll start...

I have a weird phobia of buttons and freak out every time I see one Blush

Mine is a phobia of holes. I feel anxious and nauseas at the sight.

It has a name which I can't remember and won't Google because if I do lots of pictures come up. It begins with a T.

Trypophobia

InsomniacVampire · 17/10/2022 06:35

No one irl knows but I have a secret online life 😂

DazedandConfused3 · 17/10/2022 06:52

I’ve just started my dream job, a real ‘kudos’ position. Fucking hate it and find it boring.

I have zero self confidence. But I come across as very secure and confident. I hide that I am a nervous wreck, constantly feeling like I don't measure up, I worry about what people think about me, I don't ever feel comfortable with anyone including my husband or family. And I am ashamed of my lack of confidence. My nervousness is now causing me to develop compulsive unconscious physical actions.

Bluebellandpansies · 17/10/2022 07:18

Well, they won't know, for sure...

rubydoobydoo · 17/10/2022 07:25

Another koumpounophobe here - I actually think there are more of us than the statistics suggest as we just don't tell anyone as it seems mad!
The only person who knows is my husband - and maybe my mum but she never really took it seriously and just thought I was being silly - I am very jealous reading about the girl whose parents adapted her clothes.

Riapia · 17/10/2022 07:28

That I’ve been married twice but never to the love of my life.

Dorisbonson · 17/10/2022 07:34

I love mornings by myself before the family wake up. Sometimes I wake my son up late to spend a bit more time alone.

blackpearwhitelilies · 17/10/2022 01:05

I’ve never forgotten how beautifully you wrote about your DH tunnocks. I’m sorry your friends are crap about letting you talk xx

Thank you so much. I am so lonely.

CrapBag39 · 17/10/2022 07:46

In my head I am an utter lunatic. The thoughts I have go from beyond ridiculous to down right disturbing. No one knows.

AdditionalCharacter · 17/10/2022 08:32

Thank you @7eleven. It's a rare illness, not many adults have it and those who I've found live in America, so their health care is completely different to the NHS.

I also have a fear of balloons. So much so that my DC we're not allowed them. I've had to go home from work events and birthday parties that were decorated in balloons. A toddler with a balloon is my nightmare. I'm ok with foil helium balloons though as they don't bang when they pop.

x2boys · 17/10/2022 08:47

Nowhereelsetogo90 · 16/10/2022 22:46

For all the button people, I’ve got a close friend who’s petrified of balloons to the extent that she couldn’t come to our mutual friends sons birthday party because there were balloons there!

I don't hate balloons ,but I hate the sound they make when people touch then etc and when kids play with them i can't bear being near them.

@speakout thank you so much. I will.

Hollywolly1 · 17/10/2022 11:10

My phobia of Butterflies (orange & black ones)its just so bad, hard to believe how it could have such an impact like I can't leave Windows or doors open most of the year because you people may think they are just out in summer but I see them almost all year.I don't close my curtains because they may be lurking in between thise pleats, I can't fold clothes from the tumble dryer in summer because they may be in the clothes that came in from the clothes line, I can't leave my car windows down in summer, they have caused massive panic attacks .If I want to wear a dress or trousers my husband has to check legs and sleeves and I could go on and on but only my nearest and dearest know about it because I fear of telling anyone in case they chase me with one.
I am not z precious person at all and not really a problem compared to what a lot of people have

forevercooking · 17/10/2022 12:41

I hate people talking about outer space, solar systems, black holes, sun being burning has that will one day go out etc. Freaks me out and makes me feel panicky, no idea why. Not helping that DC's are currently space obsessed. Argh

Hawkins001 · 17/10/2022 12:53

AnybodyAnywhere · 16/10/2022 23:19

When you find out how please let me know! Same reason 😊

Will.do.

Softplayhooray · 17/10/2022 13:48

The idea of wearing skinny jeans makes me feel physically ill! Not because of how they look but how they feel. Weirdly I'm ok with tight trousers but only if they finish mid calf, any longer and even the idea of them makes me nauseous.

Yeah defo agree with you - reading this thread, I'm surprised how many of us have the same phobia! My mum is exactly the same, has never taken it seriously and always laughs about it whenever it comes up in conversation!

I write fanfiction about a 90s children's tv show.

OhTheLeetleHandsAndFeetle · 17/10/2022 14:29

In my late teens and early twenties I was the lead guitarist in a heavy metal band.

I am a little, fat, menopausal woman, very non-descript, and the sort of person that my colleagues probably think spent their youth reading 19th novels in a quiet corner of the library. I’m not even one of those middle aged women who dyes their hair interesting colours or has tattoos and goes to festivals. I have a sensible haircut and drink a lot of tea. I have washed up on very calm shores.

Wasn’t always like it, though. 😎

I LOVE this! Was the band successful? Well known?

I'm not scared of buttons but I don't like them. I would rather wear clothes with zips on them. I remember being at playschool/school and boxes of buttons being there to play with and that made me feel funny. Same with coins 😂

But. I am petrified of four poster beds. I was terrified that we would get a four poster bed on our honeymoon. They are so overpowering and make me feel claustrophobic

Snap! 4 poster beds make me shudder. Urgh. I'm not claustrophobic, just something about them makes me very uncomfortable.

myexisawanker · 17/10/2022 14:53

Similar to the holes, I'm same with finger like projections. So like pics of the digestive tract microscopic villi

Envy

I can barely type it tbh!
