Also to your impertinent questions, it is very empathetic to the trans community who are always targeted and discriminated against

Oh knock it off 🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/10/2022 14:04

Agree with those saying something doesn't add up here.

No it's not about trans people. But the legal mechanisms, put into place to allow people to self identify as a different gender, are exactly the same mechanisms that these nasty claimants are claiming they are entitled to exercise to self diagnose as having a protected mental condition. You do realise that Bristol University recognises people who self ID as cats and emojis, don't you? If that is not considered beyond the pale batshittery, then really, anything goes under self ID. Nobody is making this about trans people. It is all about ill thought out laws that support unscientific notions of a state of being that has no basis in material reality, but has very real and serious implications for other groups of people once the legal mechanism is triggered. And how these simplistic laws can be exploited by bad faith actors.

👏🏼

This young woman is truly amazing. I am in awe of her courage.

I wish she had a funding page. I would happily contribute £100 towards the cost of her legal fees / private treatment / whatever she needs.

I don’t know. I’ve seen some pretty bonkers shit being took to court lately. The backlash she would receive would be awful can’t imagine she would make this up.

hiredandsqueak · 05/10/2022 13:57

@Etak123 You obviously think you know more than the whole team of professionals involved so well done you big pat on the back. What are your medical credentials by the way? Your experience is your own my daughter's may be different, you have no idea why she faints or vomits, you don't do either, again, lucky you another gold star for you.

wow 😮, obviously you’re defensive quite rightly and I’m sorry you feel like that. My credentials are the most knowledgeable a person can be about hyper empathy having suffered/been blessed with it all my life.
I repeat I’m not saying your DD is a bad person at all but come on , in reality people do not vomit because they care.
Say whatever you like now, I won’t engage with you anymore, I wasn’t trying to offend you but seems you can’t be reasonable or respectful to someone else’s insight.

I follow her too.

The 'treatments' these people are getting is reiki to cleanse their auras because in their culture they aren't allowed to be around disabled people apparently.

She knows full well if (when) she wins they will just wait it out until she dies so they don't have to pay compensation.

No-one has to pay compensation for suing another person, no matter how ridiculous the claim is. They may have to pay her costs, and there are ways of enforcing those, e.g. by way of a charge on their home.

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/10/2022 14:13

Siepie · 05/10/2022 13:40

It's not related to trans people. Trans people may "self-identity" as a gender and the people in this case have self-diagnosed (or "self-identify") a mental illness.

But this is Mumsnet where it's impossible to have a thread on anything without it being blamed on trans people!

Nobody is blaming anything on transppl.

What people are saying is that it is self-ID, without any need for verification, which has allowed this sort of behaviour to happen.

phishy · 05/10/2022 14:13

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:41

Erm no, I have the condition and vomiting is not empathetic, you think it is?

Actually according to the most popular site on hyper empathy, hyper empathy 'may include physical symptoms (stomach ache, nausea)'.

www.uktherapyguide.com/news-and-blog/empathy-disorder-what-is-it-symptoms-and-how-to-overcome-it/nblog11252

However, I wouldn't even describe these Airbnb guests as empathic, let alone hyper empathic.

Isaidnoalready · 05/10/2022 14:13

Which parts seem fake? Because if you Google her she absolutely does have Huntington disease and is dying so why would she be doing this?

goldfinchonthelawn · 05/10/2022 14:15

I stopped using Airbnb a couple of years ago because they had completely lost sight of their original aims. It's a hideous company now.

Poor woman. i think she could countersue the couple and Airbnb for ablism.

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 14:02

Not sure what your smoking but I suggest you put it down.

Your derailing the thread that is about a disabled women being sued and it’s unfair

Get real

Flugelbinder · 05/10/2022 14:16

WTAF have I just watched?! That poor lady.

I feel very triggered hearing about this. It's bad for my blood pressure and mental health hearing about absolute fuckwits like these loathsome wastes of oxygen.

Who can I sue?

Novum · 05/10/2022 14:16

Quveas · 05/10/2022 11:29

It all sounds very bad but I do think that she needs to be careful about postings to social media, and people here need to be cautious about what they say. If this is a case before the courts, she could get into trouble for discussing it like this; and it would be tragic to prejudice her own case by saying something that she shouldn't.

No, she couldn't get into trouble for talking about the case. The law is not the same for civil actions, which this would be. Besides, if she is waiting for legal papers to be filed it sounds as if they haven't started any action. If they do, I fully expect their claim to be struck out at an early stage.

Novum · 05/10/2022 14:17

KitchiHuritAngeni · 05/10/2022 11:30

They won't be out of pocket at all, they are being funded by some sort of hate group unfortunately.

But when they lose there will be a costs order against them. I wonder if the hate group is funding that?

CaptainThe95thRifles · 05/10/2022 14:17

I've seen some of her previous videos and I find the whole situation staggering. I really fear for the future of society if we capitulate to this kind of disgusting ableism. Nobody should be taken to court to defend their existence and presence in society, ffs.

Isaidnoalready · 05/10/2022 14:18

Very fast Google but it seems she was given a life expectancy of five years almost three years ago

Right well then my unreserved apologies to the person I was talking to if you see this, or if someone can tag her? X I have never heard of that but obviously I was wrong and I’m very sorry to offend you/anyone x it’s the complete opposite of my experiences and understanding of empathy

TitsInAbsentia · 05/10/2022 14:21

I'm baffled by this. I know hate groups exist and will bankroll all kinds of stupid things but there's one that will go against disabled people? Baffled. I notice in her video (first one, haven't seen the rest yet) she mentions a language barrier but even that wouldn't be an excuse for their behaviour. She shouldn't have had to go through this.

Sorry I wasn't clear there, this is why she isn't going to counter-sue them back. She won't live long enough.

Back at you lol
You started commenting about trans people before I did 😂

Novum · 05/10/2022 14:24

Thelnebriati · 05/10/2022 12:47

the wording of “hierarchy” and “identity”, and their being “anti-woke”, suggests that there might be an actual anti-trans agenda here?

No, its the rights of disabled people that are under attack here.
Its the support of self ID that has made it possible to bring the legal challenge.

How? Are they self identifying as being ultra-sensitive to disabled people? I still don't see how that could give them a cause of action. Or is the idea to show bad effects of self-ID so it shouldn't be allowed any more?

hiredandsqueak · 05/10/2022 14:24

@phishy that's true dd doesn't faint or vomit because she feels disgust or horror she faints and vomits because the depths of her feelings and her sensory responses are so overwhelming to her. She is mortified and embarrassed because her response is so obviously misunderstood by most people and Etak123 here today.

Thanks, fair play to you for acknowledging this! Very empathic Smile
