Adult colouring books??? aromatherapy?? WTF
Emotional support animals???
these people are mental

They want a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget…funded by this poor woman. As a person with a chronic condition myself, this angers me so much. I suffered a life changing injury at my workplace 18 months ago and didn’t even sue them but these morons are doing this. I’m embarrassed for them.

Gilead · 05/10/2022 13:45

I’m a wheelchair user, I must be really offensive.
Fucking nasty twats!

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:45

Siepie · 05/10/2022 13:40

It's not related to trans people. Trans people may "self-identity" as a gender and the people in this case have self-diagnosed (or "self-identify") a mental illness.

But this is Mumsnet where it's impossible to have a thread on anything without it being blamed on trans people!

I thought maybe I missed something but sadly I think you’re right x

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 13:45

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:41

Erm no, I have the condition and vomiting is not empathetic, you think it is?

Eh? You have this condition yet you’ve just called women bigots for being concerned. Not very empathetic is it? Or did you self ID?

ShoeTheDoor · 05/10/2022 13:47

I've signed her petition. This is just ridiculous by those suing. This is not going to go the way they want and will shine a light on their terrible behaviour.

An incredibly brave woman to stand up to this bullshit.

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:48

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 13:40

Not everything revolves around ‘trans’ - let’s try not derail the thread eh?

What you on about? Why did you tag me and not the person making it about trans people lol oh dear

QuebecBagnet · 05/10/2022 13:48

I’ve been watching this from the start on tiktok. I hope it’s not an in-depth hoax, I mean she seems genuine but it’s all so bonkers.

Wanderingowl · 05/10/2022 13:49

TellingBone · 05/10/2022 13:19

Thanks @orbitalcrisis

Again though, they are reporting her claims only. No evidence of any court actions.

I'm not going to make any claims about the veracity of this woman's story but if this is in Ireland, I'm very confused. She keeps on referring to, in print and verbally, the Equality Act. Ireland does not have the Equality Act, we have Equal Status Acts. A woman going through legal proceedings around these acts, would not keep referring to them by the name of an act in another country. She might slip up verbally on occasion but it wouldn't be continual and if it happened in print, she would be advised by her legal team, who are supposedly telling her what she can and can't be public about, that she's using the names of laws in another country.

She does know she's doing this though, as at the end of the video in the OP, she actually asks people to sign her petition on the Equality Act, then says she's not actually in the UK but she's aware of other attacks on that act in the UK, so she made her petition to protect the law in the UK, as opposed to a petition that has anything at all to do with the laws that she claims could be eroded in Ireland. That's a really odd thing to do.

quitelikelyto · 05/10/2022 13:49

Surely if someone has a mental health issue triggered by something normal then it's for them to notify and highlight the issue. Just like it's for someone with a food allergy ti notify a restaurant and not just assume all foods won't contain the allergens. They will lose but they are using this poor woman to further their cause.

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:49

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:32

Wow , what a joke. Anti-trans definitely does not mean women concerned about sex based rights 🤦‍♀️ it means bigotry

Oh haha it was you 🤦‍♀️

seetzeros · 05/10/2022 13:50

I’ve googled hard (!) and the only suggestion re: who is funding this legal action is ‘sovereign citizens’… how horrid that a group with an agenda is pursuing a terminally ill disabled woman just to make a political point. They may have met their match with Jade but none the less…

BitossiBlues · 05/10/2022 13:52

No it's not about trans people. But the legal mechanisms, put into place to allow people to self identify as a different gender, are exactly the same mechanisms that these nasty claimants are claiming they are entitled to exercise to self diagnose as having a protected mental condition. You do realise that Bristol University recognises people who self ID as cats and emojis, don't you? If that is not considered beyond the pale batshittery, then really, anything goes under self ID. Nobody is making this about trans people. It is all about ill thought out laws that support unscientific notions of a state of being that has no basis in material reality, but has very real and serious implications for other groups of people once the legal mechanism is triggered. And how these simplistic laws can be exploited by bad faith actors.

seetzeros · 05/10/2022 13:52

@Wanderingowl i wondered about the mention of the Equality act. I’m not sure where in Ireland she is but I think there is a mention of euro’s somewhere so it’s not NI. It’s all very odd…

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/10/2022 13:54

//

Actually there have been several posters, tops, who have linked this to "trans". So actually, completely possible to discuss this without.

Also if you read some of those few posts they are pointing out the consequence of making decisions/shaping legislation on self ID. Which most trans people do.

The overriding feeling on this thread is anger at what this poor woman is being put through.

This 100%

I was looking at an air bnb castle. I had to send a message first to the host to require about how many floors up is the room, staircases and steps.
I am afraid of heights and I struggle in the castle and spiral staircases. I can get up to the first floor but beyond that I can't do it. So I asked a few questions and I decided against it because I won't be able to gain access to the room.

Gemma987 · 05/10/2022 13:57

How bloody dare they. What a lovely person she seems and what a disgrace they are.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/10/2022 13:57

X post with Bitoss who explained it much better than me

Do you think it's not true? I must say I found it unbelievable (in the sense of being appalled) that this would happen.
I wonder if she is the victim of some horrible hoax. I cannot imagine a barrister putting in a claim that includes colouring books and crayons.

hiredandsqueak · 05/10/2022 13:57

@Etak123 You obviously think you know more than the whole team of professionals involved so well done you big pat on the back. What are your medical credentials by the way? Your experience is your own my daughter's may be different, you have no idea why she faints or vomits, you don't do either, again, lucky you another gold star for you.

Spot on

andtheweedonkey · 05/10/2022 14:00

What exactly do they claim to have been triggered into?

Being unsympathetic arseholes?

She should sue AirBnB for discrimination for progression of this bollocks.

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 14:00

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 13:45

lmao well first of all thanks for making me laugh 😂
Is there something wrong with you? You’re making ridiculous statements.
If you actually read my comment I said anti-trans people are bigots, I didn’t mention women.
If you also read my other comments you can see what kind of person I am, which is empathetic:) to people genuinely suffering and I have no interest or time for discrimination.
Also to your impertinent questions, it is very empathetic to the trans community who are always targeted and discriminated against. I didn’t self ID anything thanks it was diagnosed a couple of years ago along with all of my other medical problems, would you like the name and extension number of one of my specialists?
Obviously you don’t understand hyper empathy or you wouldn’t make such incorrect statements.

Wanderingowl · 05/10/2022 14:01

Ok, so I've watched some more of her videos and I do not believe she is telling the truth. This does have something to do with trans-activism in some way, though I can't tell what side of things she's on. She keeps referring to self-ID and even claims that her specialist 'high level barrister' has told her there is legal precedent that a self-ID'd condition will be more accepted than a medically diagnosed condition. This is clear bullshit, when people talk about self-ID in Ireland they are actually referring to the Gender Recognition Act. It's not called self-ID, that's just a commonly used term. The Gender Recognition Act deals with, you guessed it, gender. It has fuck-fuckety-all to do with self-ID'd mental health conditions.

This is either fantasy for attention or some sort of ill thought out campaign to show that 'self-ID' in one country could magically erode the Equal Status Act in another. The whole thing is very, very clearly made up and doesn't stand up to, literally, 5 minutes of scrutiny.

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:49

Oh haha it was you 🤦‍♀️

Not sure what your smoking but I suggest you put it down.

Your derailing the thread that is about a disabled women being sued and it’s unfair

TellingBone · 05/10/2022 14:03

Thank you @Wanderingowl

Something definitely 'off' about all this
