Maybe we should start a thread called is this tik tok genuine?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2022 11:45

It really wasn't obvious though in one video you could here banging and shouting from the people staying in her airbnb as she was doing tiktoks it did not sound pleasant at all

It's quite possible the guests made a nuisance of themselves and then went home and she still made this court stuff all up for whatever reason. There are various news articles from July where the angle is that they were disablist, not that they were suing.

LilacPoppy · 07/10/2022 11:45

@Isaidnoalready maybe I just have a good instinct I don't know, it just all seemed very off from the beginning.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2022 11:48

When I watched the videos it reminded me of one of those dubious AIBU threads where everyone gets enraged at some CF or other and all suggest how to respond and then the OP updates regularly with new developments. I felt a bit mean for thinking that but something seemed off, and the legal stuff sounded bollocks, plus as pp have said mixing up two different countries' legal frameworks.

Wonder if we could get this thread renamed?

Thelnebriati · 07/10/2022 12:00

If it is fake, its a stupid thing to do. If not, I don't think there are many disabled people who would be surprised.

orbitalcrisis · 07/10/2022 12:19

@Etak123 Your words were: "I’m really sorry your DD has autism and the problems that can come with it but..." so I'm not sure why you would be surprised that I interpreted their meaning as I did, you literally said you were sorry DD has Autism.

And why shouldn't I explain how other people's empathy works? You clearly do not understand that other people experience emotions differently to you or this wouldn't keep coming up! I notice that you apologised AGAIN, then doubled down on the comments you were apologising for AGAIN! I do not know why you think that you are an expert on all people's experience of empathy just because you experience hyper empathy but then you think that a disabled person cannot be ableist!

QuebecBagnet · 07/10/2022 12:47

Ex neighbours of hers from Cork have come forward saying she was known as Rebecca there and is a fraudster.

Never have I wanted a thread to appear in the Daily Mail so much

TempName01 · 07/10/2022 13:03

Wow, does she really have the disabilities and terminal illness she is claiming then.

LarryBlackmonsCodpiece · 07/10/2022 13:05

The long con.

reesewithoutaspoon · 07/10/2022 13:12

I saw a few of her videos pop up on my fyp. I remember going Huh! when she said she was diagnosed with Huntingtons after a traumatic event. which I thought was weird as it's a genetic disorder. You either have it or you don't.
But put it down to her having sought medical help for the traumatic event, and it was an incidental diagnosis at the time. Like were someone is generally feeling rubbish and goes to the GP for what they think is depression and turns out to be severe anemia/hypothyroidism for example.

DappledYork · 07/10/2022 13:19

@Wanderingowl

Well done for being the first to pick up on how this was likely to be not what it seems and for giving clear explanations as to why.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2022 13:20

Yes, @Wanderingowl's posts were very helpful.

LemonSwan · 07/10/2022 13:26

Wow what a turn of events.

I don't think you can say 'definitely' - unless I've missed something, no one has produced any definitive proof that she isn't genuine, though I do agree things look suspicious at this point.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 07/10/2022 14:04

What's behind this? Is it just to sell stuff or a weird way of making a point about self identification? So odd. She must know she'd be caught out?

TimeAtTheBar · 07/10/2022 14:20

I think it’s pretty clear she’s a fraudster/fantasist at this point 🤷🏻‍♀️

Isaidnoalready · 07/10/2022 16:58

I don't think anything is clear at this point

JemimaTab · 07/10/2022 17:10

There’s an interesting thread on this in the r/Ireland section of Reddit.
It really is getting stranger and stranger.

People on there who know her say she doesn’t have huntingdons

JemimaTab · 07/10/2022 19:19

And apparently lots of people have contributed money via the Change.org petition (which does ask you to donate if you sign). So there is already potentially a scam element to this.
