Thanks, fair play to you for acknowledging this! Very empathic Smile

😂❤️

It's nothing like that, unless Airbnb edited it. Just about check in and smoking basically. Her response goes into it further.

Is there a link to the review? I haven't read it myself just seen her videos talking about it

@Etak123
There are many ways the arguments from the complaints' side mirror trans ideology; they're so similar I can't help but think they're related.

In this case, the complainants argue that the host is responsible for their feelings and should have changed her behaviour to prevent offence (she should have clarified on her Airbnb listing that she was disabled to protect their feelings). Similarly, the transgender movement seeks recognition and protection from the state through intervention to regulate the behaviour of those outside the identity group. Either it is reasonable to demand restrictions on free expression to prevent offence, or it isn't. What's good for trans ideology is also good for the complainants.

The transgender movement also subscribes to a postmodern hierarchy of truth, where feelings and thoughts 'in here' are more real, true and important than physical things 'out there'. Similarly, the complainants argue that the host's feelings are less important than theirs since the host appeals to a protected characteristic rooted in biological reality, which matters less than their self-identified reality.

The complainants appear to be asking for the Equality Act to be amended to reflect that self-id is more important than biological reality. That is, to have it written in that their feelings trump the disabled host's right not to be discriminated against, which is exactly what the trans movement argues in regard to sex-based rights.

I think this is a way to demonstrate the absurdity of trans ideology without mentioning the word 'trans', which has the propensity to switch off reason in otherwise reasonable people. If a judgement is given, it is highly likely to contradict trans ideology and help support biology-based rights and freedom of expression elsewhere.

If that is the aim, it's a pretty good way to get there.

My only objection would be that if they wanted to deliberately create an absurd situation to make a point and create a legal precedent against absurdity claiming divine right to truth, they should've chosen someone less vulnerable - It's not fair on that disabled women to drag her into that fight.

Just because one bunch of fanatics couldn't care less whose life they ruin doesn't mean the opponent should stoop to the same level.

I’m not sure which is worse. If they really believe these appalling claims, if they are trying it on get money out of a terminally ill person or if they are doing it for their five minutes of fame. Despicable.

What if they're doing it to make a point that we shouldn't be suing people for the subjective crime of causing offence?

I think that's fine (so long as the woman is in on it!)

Soubriquet · 05/10/2022 15:05

I desperately hope it isn’t true because I can’t fathom a world where something like this goes to court.

But at the same time, it’s almost so ridiculous it has to be true because who in their right mind would make something like this up

Facepalmtree · 05/10/2022 15:05

She's gone out of her way not to give the Airbnb link so I'm unsure about posting it but here's a screenshot and the first bit of her response.

@DaSilvaP, I completely agree, nobody should be used as a means to an end. I'm just hoping that she's in on it.

Thank you @Etak123 for your apology, I wouldn't wish hyper empathy on anyone it is distressing and exhausting and causes a whole load of difficulties for dd and I imagine you too.

I did write another one to one of your other comments that probably wasn’t very nice or maybe even fair, honestly I can’t even remember what I wrote and I do get completely enraged by things that I think are bad I suppose lol but yes, again, if you have the capacity to forgive me again I would really appreciate it and I will try my hardest to stop going off like a madhead lol
Not that it’s ok to be rude like I was but I’ve had a lot going on even in the last 8 months I’ve had 2 brain tumours, brain surgery and 3rounds of SRS a kind of super strong targeted radiation to my brain alongside all my‘proper’ treatments and I went through menopause 2 years ago at 37 when I had my first lot of chemo and just these last couple of weeks I’ve had the crazy mood swings/anger so I think that all might have something to do with why I’m replying so erm.. aggressively? But whatever the reason, my bad! And I’m really sorry for making you upset/angry, it wasn’t my intention but I can totally see how I did and yeah, I wish I hadn’t.
Hopefully you won’t give me a second thought and I wish you and your DD every happiness in the world x

A life changing sum of money because they stayed in a home with a disabled person they were "triggered" by her disability but refused to leave and go to a hotel (that she offered to refund there money and paynthe difference for) they tried to have her put out of her home she had to stay in her kitchen overnight they are demanding compensation for over thirty hours of therapies a week for the next ten years she lists all of them on her YouTube channel AIRBNB have asked for a list of items she has purchased because they claim if she bought it that makes it a disability aid so things such as small milk small cereals a mini fridge etc etc they challenged her cleaning costs because they claim as a disabled person she gets carers therfore cleaning is free so they shouldn't be charged for her cleaning fees there are rumours they assaulted her (she can't discuss that) Airbnb were useless the safety team never really got back to her after telling her to leave and her saying that's not possible with all my medical equipment etc she wasn't safe

Look up "this world can be accessible"

She should be suing them back for harassing her that night and with their very unreasonable demands.

Fifthtimelucky · 05/10/2022 15:11

This is the first I've heard of this case and I have watched the you tube video posted by the OP. I must say that while the woman seems very genuine I too have some scepticism about what is going on.

That is partly because the whole thing is so far fetched that I find it hard to believe that anyone would be so ridiculous as to make such a claim (or find lawyers willing to support it). It's also because of the points others have made about the issue of self-ID, which she says she supports in the context of trans people, and because of the references to the Equality Act, given that it doesn't apply in her case.

I'm not sure whether I hope it's true or not. Obviously if it is, I am extremely sympathetic and can only assume that the case will be laughed out of court.

No it isn't. That's all a legal nonsense in terms of the laws of Ireland. The more I look at this the more clear it is that this is total fabrication. It couldn't possibly be real.

Thank you, I didn't realise that. I mean, the review isn't that bad imo, if true I'd be frustrated with constantly having to check in with someone before I arrived and no showers after 9.30. It's the response that goes into more detail surrounding it.

Lilgamesh2 · 05/10/2022 15:14

@Thenose completely agree with your reading of this, you explained it better than I did.

I do also think the implications of this go beyond the trans debate. The law is overstepping in many areas imo.

Very very interesting! Food for thought indeed. I didn’t realise that was the/a trans- agenda. I remember reading that in the USA a tiny percentage of people even knew a trans person and I imagine it’s pretty similar here.
I have a friend who happens to be trans and she is amazing, people say how brave she was but she doesn’t feel like that she just says she wasn’t brave she was just in the wrong body so had to rectify it. I have never heard her say anything like this ^ but she’s a wealth of knowledge, very clued up and she has a wonderful outlook and insight into lots of things many of us can only imagine.
I’m going to ask her thoughts about this because she is the only authority I know on trans people but thanks for your reply, I’ll bear it in mind when I do talk to her :) x

You might be right, it's difficult to say without knowing all the details of the case, but there is one point I'm definitely sure of.

Regarding "It couldn't possibly be real" - I could list you a number of very real cases where any sane outside observer could only say "this couldn't possibly be for real".

@Etak123, please note that I didn't refer to trans people. I'm referring exclusively to trans ideology and the trans movement, the aims and objectives of which are not shared by all trans people.

I would like to very politely point out that 'being trans is not the same thing as 'being an authority on trans' and your friend may just want to have to live her life without having validate every friend and acquaintances questions and thoughts on being trans.

If she wants to actively vocally advocate and debate and discuss then cool. But if she just wants to live her life as someone who also just happens to be trans, then she probably gets irritated by this stuff.

I say this as a mixed race person who is absolutely sick of being the 'authority' on racism and being mixed race etc etc from well meaning people who could just google things, and read around and come to their own conclusions instead of expecting me to pick up the mental load for them.

TitsInAbsentia · 05/10/2022 15:47

Most of her reviews on airbnb are fine, someone else mentioned restrictive check in and the now showering at 9.30pm (which isn't mentioned in her listing and probably should be, along with maybe a surcharge if you change your agreed check in time) but other than that all the other reviews are positive.

Not sure whether to read anything in to the person/family making the claim against her are also airbnb hosts in France..with a nice yoga pose photo...ahhhh all those woo therpies and yoga....would the service pet have to do yoga too?

Trimalata · 05/10/2022 15:53

I'm skeptical, too. I came across her videos on Tiktok and its really noticeable that she never actually shows (well, not in the ones I've watched) the supposedly outrageous communications with AirBnB that she's received. That along with the misunderstandings of law and the existence/general weirdness of the Change Petition should be enough to give anyone pause.

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 15:56

Have you got a link to the change petition as I couldn’t fine it
