Sorry I've not read through all the other threads. However, has anyone addressed the issue of Nordstream and the fact that America has had its eye fixed on Europe to sell them their oil and gas for years? Condoleezza Rice herself said it 10 years ago on video, how they don't like Russia having the European markets for oil and gas and that they need to be stopped.

The way I understand it, Ukraine is a proxy war for America and Russia. Both sides are crazy, neither side much cares for who is caught in the middle. We are not really America's "friends" or have a "special relationship", unless you take special as meaning "abusive". America has an incentive to continue the war because it allows money to flow into the arms companies and weakens Russia, thereby allowing it to assert its dominance ever more over the world in a time when its power is waning.

Russia/Putin is probably nuts but there is actual evidence out there which shows how he has tried to be friends with America over the years but has been ridiculed, lied to and humiliated by them. I do believe that although Putin was wrong to invade, that the west pushed very hard to help him in that direction.

So although I won't take sides, I don't like the way that America treats other countries around the world. It is in fact proving awful for us all on so many levels. I also don't like the massive wall of propaganda that we are subject to in the UK, and from the sounds of it, across Europe. This strict anti-russian, pro-western narrative which seeks to arrest our critical thinking.

We are all paying the price for these catastrophic decisions. Obviously some people more than others. I'm so angry about it. We are all being played for fools.

Narcissists fighting narcissists. And the losers are the ordinary people who lose their jobs, homes and lives. β€˜Twas ever thus.

Got my bot bingo card out. Just waiting for one for a full house

Haha oh too funny@LoveLarry ! That's what people say who have no counter arguments or evidence to speak of πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Says the person who has not bothered to read through all the other threads.....HmmConfused

Why should we be bothered going over the arguments again because you can't be bothered to read back. You'll find that they have indeed been addressed.

And no, I'm not pro-war (nor are most, if not all, of those that contribute to these threads) . I was one of the millions who matched against the Iraq War. I've hated what is happening in the Yemen. I despaired at both Russian and American involvement in Afghanistan (although celebrated the freedom that women were starting to enjoy) - because no one has ever come out of getting involved in that region with their reputation intact Sad I fear for the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. I could go on....

So you can fuck off with your assumptions. Angry

Greenshake · 03/10/2022 22:33

Just to be really clear, NOBODY on this thread is pro-war. It’s quite the opposite.

I agree that person has most likely not read them. How many thousand posts now?

That person has indeed made assumptions.

miceonabranch · 03/10/2022 22:37

Pro war?

No. Just pro not invading other countries for a land grab and trying to wipe out their citizens.

Yes, so go back to the Kremlin and tell Putin to stop invading. Then there won't be any more Ukrainians losing life and family.

I suppose this is one thing the Russians have failed in; winning the information war on social media. Given the alleged disruption to other states' affairs during the last decade do you think the Russians were surprised at the amount of unity demonstrated by the west? I think it has been absolutely clear from the start that this was an illegal aggressive invasion of a sovereign state and no amount of obsfucation has challenged that clear fact.

ScrollingLeaves · 03/10/2022 23:29

Re:the false referendum. Look how Ukraine voted 1991 in regard to leaving the Soviet Union. Even Crimea voted to be independent with a bigger majority than got us Brexit or than would put a party in power here.

I think I remember reading earlier this year that this isn’t the case at all in some other countries. Perhaps another poster will remember where.

Your username says it all. Stop this scaremongering right now.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 03/10/2022 23:58

ProtectandSurviveUK, maybe you should stick to the thread you started 10 minutes ago in the 30 Days section (although no one seems to be taking the bait so far) or concentrate on whipping up hysteria in preppers corner.
