I home school my two teens.

Every couple of weeks I give them a conspiracy theory to look up, write a bit about, and give me their opinion on, and reasons for that opinion. It helps them with research and critical thinking (I hope).

I've done a lot of the obvious ones, New world order, 9/11, JFK assassination, some of the denial ones in WW2 etc.

I'm running out of ideas for other ones, preferably that incorporate history, geography etc, or just ones that are a bit out there or interesting.

Covid virus was leaked from the military biological research lab in Maryland, not Wuhan. It was fully shut down for serious biosecurity violations in August 2019, and it had previous history for a string of leaks and weak biosecurity protocols. There are contemporary reports in the mainstream press about this, eg NYT. A few weeks earlier in June there were several outbreaks of a mystery serious respiratory illness among residents and staff in nursing homes in nearby North Carolina. Many residents died, unprecedented in summer. Despite extensive testing, no pathogen could be identified. All the weird stories going around about the mysterious vaping illnesses in summer 2019 were really a cover up for the leak from the military research lab.

Conversation then moved on to putting poison in ones bodies (covid vaccine), control of the population, and how media controls everything.

I don’t think she’s teaching them to believe all conspiracy theories, but to look at conspiracy theories and what people believe and why people believe that, plus the proven facts and then come to their own conclusion.

Eg - the world is flat. Research the proven facts, research what scientists have said, research what conspiracy theorists say. Why do conspiracy theorists believe the earth is flat. How many different theories are there out there. How many can be proven. Which one do you believe and why.

I like the one about glitter. Nobody knows who buys most of the glitter in the world and it’s hidden inside something we’d least expect 🧐 And for some reason, it’s a secret.

The Paul McCartney replaced one does intrigue me because he did seem to change.

Having read the thread, that's not the tone of it. It's a load of credulous, paranoid, ridiculous crap, much of which borders on antisemitism.

It is important than children and people learn critical thinking, assessing evidence and understanding sources. This is not how you do it.

There's a lot of overlap between conspiracy theorists and home educators which gives the other type of home educators a bad name, unfortunately.

I think you are spectacularly failing to understand what OP is doing.

It comes across that YOU might really be the sort of person who lacks critical thinking.

There was one on here a couple of weeks ago that the govt wants a cashless society and HM was murdered because she didn't want that and Charles does.

Queen wasn't in the coffin - why was never explained. Someone did say her body was being kept 'somewhere safe' and it was pointed out a lead lined securely fastened coffin guarded 24 hours a day is about as safe as it gets.
