I home school my two teens.

Every couple of weeks I give them a conspiracy theory to look up, write a bit about, and give me their opinion on, and reasons for that opinion. It helps them with research and critical thinking (I hope).

I've done a lot of the obvious ones, New world order, 9/11, JFK assassination, some of the denial ones in WW2 etc.

I'm running out of ideas for other ones, preferably that incorporate history, geography etc, or just ones that are a bit out there or interesting.

I think getting your teens to think for themselves is fantastic.

I remember reading about Britney on BuzzFeed - how there was a theory she was held against her will. Well she bloody well was.

It's like in men in black where they buy the trash newspapers - as that's where the real alien news was reported. But mainstream news didn't. I read the daily mail sometimes in that manner.

Art Bell and George Norway, coast to coast Am. They have various guest from bob larzar, ect and discus different topics.

‘They’ have just convinced her she’s Finnish, she can’t be because it doesn’t exist 😉

Satanic Panic, QAnon and PizzaGate also have their roots in it.

I lived near there at the time and that was widely known. Lots of late night goings in at the graveyard and such like. I hope she is with her dad.

My absolute favourite is one which has been going around TikTok, where Americans claim that Trump breaking royal etiquette by walking in front of the Queen was a secret hint that he'd actually been made the UK's monarch in secret.

Not that exciting as conspiracy theories go. Except that Americans keep using the phrase "he was knighted as King!!!" and it cracks me up.

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon My oldest son came for a visit on Friday and was trying to convince me of the Queen being a lizard. I seriously was upset thinking he had developed some sort of schizophrenia but other people have heard of this too.

Flat earth could be interesting and a good way to include history of science as well as some maths (calculating the curvature of the earth to debunk etc).

There's a podcast called Stuff They Don't Want You to Know that has loads of well known and also random CTs, might be a good starting point for some topics.

Dinosaurs aren't real and fossils/bones were planted could also be fun to explore. And an excuse to get excited about dinos!

My current favourite is that the government is putting additives in the water and that it was passed right after the queen died and before Charles was king, when Liz truss was the absolute monarch and got it approved.

I went down a rabbit hole last week after reading about Elizabeth Bathory. She was alleged to have tortured and murdered up to 600 young women and bathed in their blood to stay young. It was all most likely lies spread by her enemies to oust her from power. 500 years on she’s being featured on crappy websites as one of the worlds most prolific serial killers.

I can well believe this of certain factions of Americans. I’m into Genealogy and am on a couple of Face book sites. If I had a £ for every American who claims they are related to our Royal family I’d be minted. “Queen Elizabeth is my 35th cousin 10:times removed” or William the Conquerer is my 10 x great grandfather. One claimed she was a descendant of Adam, another claimed she was a descendant of someone who had no children. She just happened to have the same surname as him.
Oh and every ancestor travelled to the America on the Mayflower.

The Vince Foster suicide theory (during Clinton administration) is an interesting one, and not likely to be true, although Hillary may have deleted files so that people didn’t find proof of a lesbian affair… (all theories and no proof, just to be clear)
