I always think Phillip ticks a lot of boxes for narcissism, obsessed with looking good, always looking like the wonderful guy, clearly thinks he's absolutely amazing, treats people like pawns but is able to manipulate any situation to his advantage - why his wife is still talking to him and saying he's a good guy after totally fucking her over is amazing.
Love to plays the martyr - how hard it all was for him to know he was gay etc. The coming out after apparently he had no choice because he was cheating on his wife with some bloke and was going to get called out - but manages to manipulate that whole scenario into him being a wonderful and amazing person who was inspired by the strength of other people coming out. The manipulation of other high profile celebs all rallying round him like he is the brave victim while his poor wife is left fending for herself in the wings having been shat all over from a great height.
Oh well apart from when he wheels her out to say how she completely supports him, totally understands and that it's fine he lied and probably gas lit her while just wasting her whole life away pretending he was straight - and his daughters too, brought out to demonstrate how they support him. The sycophantic behaviour of Holly always fawning over him - she obviously knows what she needs to do to keep a narc on side - feed his ego of course.
That said I actually really like Holly and Phil on This morning - they're exactly the right combination of superficial, bland and banal that I want on morning tv. Alison is the master of interviewing celebs in short snappy interviews where they all end up howling with laughter - she's just not good IMO at hosting for hours at a time. All the others just either try way too hard or are just nothing. You need a couple with some sort of chemistry and IMO as annoying as they are Phil and Holly, Ruth and Eammon and Richard and Judy all had/have that.
