I don't mind Holly at all, she's a working Mum like millions of us

Yes all those millions of working Mums that are actually millionaires just like her. Grin

Suzi888 · 20/09/2022 14:30

Link? 🤣 Just kidding, I don’t watch them.

Mingot · 20/09/2022 15:08

Apparently she's been crying.

Well I'm sure the guests she's ignored over the years will be heartbroken to hear that.

I think this is silly too. Loads of people got to go straight in, why shouldn't they have?

Why should they have?

I think if it was anybody else, the queue jumping would have been bad enough. I do however think they have had a bigger reaction, partly due to them coming across as superior to regular people in the first place. If anybody was going to jump a queue you would just expect it to be this pair. I think the fact they jumped the queue with excuses about being around the back, couldnt see the coffin, for tv etc afterwards, was low, and just the icing on the cake, which increased an already negative opinion for alot of people. I do think the fact they aren't owning it afterwards isn't helping their already tarnished image, and adds to hysteria.

Starpeople · 20/09/2022 15:37

"Justifying it as working so they could tell us about it today doesn't make sense as there was a live stream and plenty of people happy to talk about their experience, who quite frankly were more interesting to hear from than H&P."

Exactly this.

Agreed. There segment in actually being there was so short it didn’t warrant being there in the first place. The whole explanation about being there for that segment feels very weak when you watch the actual report today

Ffs are people thick? They were doing their job !

Why do people get so cross about stuff that doesn't matter 🙄

cavalier · 20/09/2022 15:55

I’m not keen on them at all but I don’t want a witch hunt.

Choconut · 20/09/2022 16:01

I always think Phillip ticks a lot of boxes for narcissism, obsessed with looking good, always looking like the wonderful guy, clearly thinks he's absolutely amazing, treats people like pawns but is able to manipulate any situation to his advantage - why his wife is still talking to him and saying he's a good guy after totally fucking her over is amazing.

Love to plays the martyr - how hard it all was for him to know he was gay etc. The coming out after apparently he had no choice because he was cheating on his wife with some bloke and was going to get called out - but manages to manipulate that whole scenario into him being a wonderful and amazing person who was inspired by the strength of other people coming out. The manipulation of other high profile celebs all rallying round him like he is the brave victim while his poor wife is left fending for herself in the wings having been shat all over from a great height.

Oh well apart from when he wheels her out to say how she completely supports him, totally understands and that it's fine he lied and probably gas lit her while just wasting her whole life away pretending he was straight - and his daughters too, brought out to demonstrate how they support him. The sycophantic behaviour of Holly always fawning over him - she obviously knows what she needs to do to keep a narc on side - feed his ego of course.

That said I actually really like Holly and Phil on This morning - they're exactly the right combination of superficial, bland and banal that I want on morning tv. Alison is the master of interviewing celebs in short snappy interviews where they all end up howling with laughter - she's just not good IMO at hosting for hours at a time. All the others just either try way too hard or are just nothing. You need a couple with some sort of chemistry and IMO as annoying as they are Phil and Holly, Ruth and Eammon and Richard and Judy all had/have that.

Choconut · 20/09/2022 16:03

Oh yeah and I don't give a shit that as presenters they were allowed to do some sort of press at the Queen's funeral.

Womencanlift · 20/09/2022 16:08

I was being nosy and had a look at the petition earlier this morning (before the apology/explanation) and it was at nearly 15k signatures. Now it’s at just over 21k. So obviously the programme today didn’t quite have the impact of slowing this down that they wanted it to have

Although I don’t think for a second that it will change ITV’s mind about their golden couple

Kangaruby · 20/09/2022 16:17

Won't be signing a petition but will be glad if Phillip gets the boot. Can't imagine a woman would get away with cheating on their spouse with a teenager who they had met when that teenager was younger, can't quite believe a man got away with it either.

LondonWolf · 20/09/2022 16:22

I can't stand either of them but I don't think people should lose their jobs for being selfish. Now chasing around after young men from when they were children on the other hand...

Chloefairydust · 20/09/2022 16:29

I have signed it. To be honest I don’t care too much about the queue jumping. But I can’t stand the both of them. Holly I think is just really fake, I can’t put my finger on why but I just really never warmed to her. And Phil I just think is appalling, he’s clearly a predator with an interest in young boys, and the fact that ITV protects people like that is just disgusting. I also really feel sorry for his wife. I think people already disliked them both but the queue jumping is the last straw. Time for some other presenters to take over I think. I now only watch when other presenters are on this morning anyway.

Playplayaway · 20/09/2022 16:32

Who actually watches This Morning nowadays? When Richard and Judy started it in the early 90s I was studying and loads of my fellow students tuned in. I can't see students watching it anymore.

I put it on very rarely (mostly on days like today when there's been some controversy!) and like some of the cooking segments but switch straight over for anything to do with fashion or make up as it's just so patronising and feels like QVC. I much prefer Homes Under the Hammer and the other BBC factual morning shows.

My in laws are in their late 70's don't watch it. My adult dc in their 20's certainly don't watch it, they live on channel 4 catch up and Netflix.

So what demographic is it actually aimed at?

Anytimeiseeit · 20/09/2022 16:40

Agree with posters saying that the queue issue is just the final straw rather than being a huge issue. If you look at the actual petition, it is clear that the person who started it feels that way. Hates the programme, hates the presenters, and is really using this queue issue as the reason. Imo anyway

Womencanlift · 20/09/2022 16:49

Agree with this. I think it’s the opportunity people have been waiting for when the stories about him got buried because Covid came along

Same with the stories about her being a party girl who openly cheats on her husband.

Lockdown was the best thing that could have happened to them as far as their reputation was concerned

So what if she's a millionaire? Good on her.

I bet a lot of the witch hunters on here were banging on about "be kind" after Caroline Flack's death.

MorningAfterAnxiety · 20/09/2022 17:26

@Chloefairydust is it clear though? They're just rumors aren't they? Could be true or it could just be a load of crap. We don't actually know do we? Or have I missed something?

jeez wtf !! Maybe if you tried harder you could be a millionaire like her 😂

Honestly should people who do well
for themselves hold back a bit so they don’t become too rich in case they upset others ! Heard it all now

I just think it's strange that you think she's a working mum like everyone else when she clearly isn't.
She's a millionaire so she can afford all the help she needs, that's just a fact, nothing to to with being unkind. Unless calling someone a millionaire is now a personal attack...

lollipoprainbow · 20/09/2022 17:51

@SunflowerSmith I see you've fallen for her sickly sweet act, I've read accounts of people who work with her and she's not as nice as she seems, I for one can see right through her fakeness. Your claim that she's a working mum like 'us' is laughable. Little miss greedy is nothing like ordinary working mums.

SunflowerSmith · 20/09/2022 17:57

What has being able to afford help have to do with it??
Would you have an issue with her if she was overweight, plain and on the minimum wage?
She's a Mum and she works so yes she's a working Mum and among us we earn various wages, I'd be interested to know where you start having a problem with women earning decent money? 50k? 250k?
