Lots of us are fed up with the ITV daytime 'family' who fawn over each other and pop up every bloody where doing all the game shows and adverts. Lorraine, Holly, Phil, Ruth & Eamon, the Loose Women lot, Ant & Dec. They're all super rich, super smug and feed off each other. There's at least one every year in Strictly, when the fawning becomes absolutely unbearable.

I think this has been brewing for a while with Holly & Phil. Why does Phil take school hols off when his kids are in their 30's. The excruciating Hallowen costumes, the finance sections with people with real problems phoning in while they sit there looking faux concerned, before getting back into their chauffeur driven cars and going off to their mansions. The fake tears, fake giggling, new outfits every day. The whole coming out as gay was cringe and attention seeking, followed by the cringey gushing from the rest of them. Literally no one cares.

thebabessavedme · 22/09/2022 09:26

@Playplayaway I couldn't agree more, its lazy TV, nothing new or interesting, just the same old crap rehashed day after day. I turn off with a shudder.

This has been perfectly put and I agree with every word of it.

Hahahahahah - he takes school holidays off when his kids are in their 30s? What's wrong with that if he just wants to go away with his grand children maybe. Your post is so funny.

Farmerazza · 22/09/2022 15:56

Why do people watch if the presenters are that annoying? I don't watch daytime TV - or TV in general unless it's a series or movie. Why are you watching if you don't like them?
I don't think they should lose their jobs - they obviously make money for the network. I would watch something else.

He hasn’t got any grandchildren.

Why can't he take annual when he wants?

Hats off to their PR Team I don't think they could have handled that any better.

@vroom321

LOL at their PR Team I don't think they could have handled that any worse.

Corrected that for you.

You're welcome. Smile

pictish · 22/09/2022 17:26

To add…I don’t watch This Morning or have any opinion on Holly and Phillip but I know the furore around the queue jumping is pathetic. I’m ambivalent about the Queen dying as well but if I did care, I’d be disappointed that this is what the nation have decided to squabble over.
So small, so silly. So unimportant.

Bit weird to have it when the schools are off if you don't have to though. Lorraine does the same, no grandchildren either. Maybe it's an ITV rule or something. Nice for Holly though she actually has school age children.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/09/2022 17:32

Is this all people have got to worry about FFS.

Nailed it! 😬

Not only Phil, but LORRAINE as well. SHE has every bastard school holiday day off - including the whole 6 weeks summer holiday and 2 weeks at Christmas, yet her ONE CHILD is in her late 20s!

I think the ITV presenters list needs overhauling. Some (not all) need to go. And Loose Women is fucking shit. Should have been got rid of about 5 or 6 years ago. Ditto This Morning. Get rid and get a new morning show, and get rid of Holly and Phil (not because queue gate, but because they're annoying and have had their day.) I am also piss bored with Gino DeCampo, and Phil Vickery too, so they can go, and take bloody Josie Gibson, and Gok Wan with them. There are several others I dislike, but I can't remember their names.

Where has anyone said this is the only thing they have to worry about? Confused What a stupid comment.

I would too because work is brutal when everyone goes away during school holidays and the department is bare for the non parents to look after. That's not fair.

It's stems back to when This Morning used to go off air over the summer. Then the decision was made to have a 'Summer This Morning' with different presenters (as Richard and Judy needed the 6 week break/weren't contracted to do it). 'Relief' presenters were brought in and when the series was run throughout the year, the tradition stuck.

After years of having to book annual leave during school holidays and paying sky high prices plus everywhere being packed I love that I don't have to now. Maybe Phil doesn't care too much. No idea where he likes to holiday.
The weird thing is that a lot of the summer presenters do have school age children.

Gentleman1 · 22/09/2022 17:40

ITV is a public company owned by shareholders
ITV like all other tv outlets is having a hard time earning money paying divs

ITV keeps on staff that get them higher figures .
The BBC has cut the pay of many, not sure ITV has done that.

If anyone is unhappy and switching off, email ITV and if many do, I guess they do eventually listen

I emailed a radio station and was fed up with the host chatting constantly about their family - I guess I was ot the only one as within a few months their contract was not renewed.

On this morning I'd watch it if they had a proper robust debate and the present/s had street cred.

Sparklingbrook · 22/09/2022 20:24

Petition now stands at 55,000 signatures.

Draughtycatflapreturns · 23/09/2022 06:57

Imagine, 55,000 people signing up to declare their utter stupidity to the rest of the UK.

Morons. 😂

itsgrownbacknow · 23/09/2022 06:59

Brings to mind the Black Mirror episode "Hated in the Nation"

Are you a petty fool with an inflated interest in celebrity culture and a chip on your shoulder? Sign the petition!

inappropriateraspberry · 23/09/2022 07:08

No because I don't care. I don't understand all this sudden vitriol for them. If you don't like them, don't watch them. Simple.
They didn't do anything wrong, just use a shorter queue for press, celebs etc. Why would they spend hours queuing when they've got to be back for work?

Sparklingbrook · 23/09/2022 07:09

I am quite surprised that as many as 55,000 people are bothered enough to sign a petition. I think this is well on the way to being old news now. Things will carry on as they always have.
