Survey99 - Stop talking crap.

You think the UK is still held in high esteem? The Queen was, but the UK isn't any more. That ship has sailed.

Bit superior, I can’t imagine it would go down well if reversed

but If that’s why you’re watching then fill your boots

The singing is beautiful atm I’m sure a huge amount are enjoying it rather than finding it eccentric

Oh come off it. Lighten up a bit. We regularly have to deal with ridiculous levels of british "superiority", much of it not at all affectionate.

Like I say you do you.

If that’s how you view it up to you.

The services have been beautiful. If there’s sneering from the few so be it.

LEnferCestLesAutres · 19/09/2022 17:03

Po faced much, Marsha?
are you even British?

AuntieMarys · 19/09/2022 17:10

We are back to the shitshow that is Britain tomorrow.

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 17:11

Meh whatever

Dual citizen since you ask so nicely Hmm. Only one gets the relentless rubbishing it does on mn. If it was reversed I’d probably feel the same for other nationality

I know it’s standard by now, but luckily other posters on other threads appreciated the services and are not so depressing.

GremlinDolphin4 · 19/09/2022 17:11

Magnificent! We do these things so well. A great ceremony all round for her. Much respect for the forces, police, volunteers etc.

Cleopatra67 · 19/09/2022 17:13

Look around you at the state our country is in. Very little to be proud of. Such a display of ostentation is distasteful in the circumstances.

Lindy2 · 19/09/2022 17:13

Faultless and dignified.

I thought it was a beautiful send off for the Queen.

BayMareAlert · 19/09/2022 17:19

Actually I do @Yeahrepublic but you crack on with your empty assumptions , this is a thread to say an absolutely huge well done to all those involved
They all did us proud

You think the UK is still held in high esteem? The Queen was, but the UK isn't any more. That ship has sailed.

Has it?

We're still one of the most prestigious countries in the world - ranked 3rd. And ranked 8th for best countries overall.

Switzerland is ranked 1st most prestigious and 4th best overall.

So proud to be British right now
FrippEnos · 19/09/2022 17:20

Yeahrepublic · 19/09/2022 15:42

I'm not sure what the pride is for?
The ability to spend a shitload of money and arrange a lot of pomp and pageantry? Really.
This isn't a criticism of the state funeral but utter confusion about where pride comes in.

I'd be proud of a country that didn't need people to rely on foodbanks, unsafe and insecure housing, where nurses aren't so poorly paid they rely on UC and other benefits, where the rich and privileged aren't prioritised time and time again.

How about a society where you don't need to pay privately to get the health treatment you need.
Where schools meet our children's individual needs and works for them and not the shitty system.

That stuff I could be proud of. Today, as with most days I feel shame that we won't (not can't) do better for ordinary people.

So even if their was no monarchy you would still be pissed off as the same wankers would be in power.
The same problems would exist and No difference would be made.

Worried22123 · 19/09/2022 17:22

I don't care how much it cost. It was magnificent from start to finish and worth every penny.
The pall bearers, choristers, military, security etc did not do such an amazing job because of money, they did it because they are talented, it was their duty and because they wanted to do it. The people made me proud today, regardless of how you feel about the royal family, the whole event was incredible.

Agreed. It certainly does not make me feel proud at all.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 19/09/2022 17:22

Ah, here it is. State your opposition to an institution of hereditary privilege, not a ballot in site when it comes to appointment of a head of state, and the word 'benefits' predictably appears.

Surprised you haven't gone for full house and told that PP to move abroad.

Survey99 - Stop talking crap.

Not in ime, I get comments from India, multiple European countries, US and Australia. Britain is well known for its arrogance and superiority complex borne from a history of colonisation and ime the rest of the world love it when we fail. Unfortunately modern Britain gives them them PLENTY of ammunition and entertainment.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 19/09/2022 17:23

How much did you send them? Or was it deducted from your benefits / salary

In response to this comment.

Hawkins001 · 19/09/2022 17:27

Ooohhhhhh yessssssssss

hattie43 · 19/09/2022 17:33

I think it's been absolutely fabulous. Makes me so proud to be British .

They did you proud, you don't speak for others.

hattie43 · 19/09/2022 17:35

AnneBoIeyn · 19/09/2022 16:27

I hate to piss on people's chips but I'd be far prouder of being British if we'd spent the millions this cost (not to mention the cost of the RF generally) on investing in the NHS, education, MH provision, refuges, making sure people didn't die in poverty and so on. That would be the mark of a truly great country, and somewhere I'd actually be proud to be from.

Yawn

JamSandle · 19/09/2022 17:36

I sat watching with three generations of my family at one point. One of our relatives is close in age to the Queen and spoke about what a big deal it was at the time when Elizabeth ascended the throne. It made me feel emotional.

megosaurusrex · 19/09/2022 17:36

I am too, I always am when I see these sorts of things.

WildfellAnne · 19/09/2022 17:37

It was magnificent and enthralling and emotional, but did not make me proud, and definitely not proud to be British. What was there to be proud about?

cushioncovers · 19/09/2022 17:41

Topgub · 19/09/2022 15:33

I'm not

The rest of the world must think we're absolutely nuts!

Who cares what the rest of the world thinks.
