They cancelled people's oncology appointments for the pathetic display of bread and circuses you were thrown today.

But don't let that get in the way of your bowing and scraping.

Pathetic.

I had a hospital appointment cancelled, one I've waited a year for.

But hey, doesn't it make you proud 🙄

AnneBoIeyn · 19/09/2022 18:36

Prinnny · 19/09/2022 18:34

Lies. Oncology has ran as normal in my area, as has life saving surgery, so whatever your source is, if you even have one, it is incorrect.

Your area isn't all areas though, is it, unless your omnipresent.

AnneBoIeyn · 19/09/2022 18:37

you're

HRTQueen · 19/09/2022 18:40

I feel that same

we seem more united than we have for a long time and that has been a comforting feeling it’s bitter sweet (I’m well aware not everyone feels this way)

HRTQueen · 19/09/2022 18:40

*the same

junebirthdaygirl · 19/09/2022 18:46

I am in lreland and thought it was amazing. I doubt we will ever see the likes of it again as 70 years is a real rarity so worth marking in a major way.
London looked fabulous and l would say it will hugely boost your tourist numbers as so many people must have been thinking: l must go there and see more. Its amazing how many fabulous buildings there are and that really contributed to the occasion.

The family must be exhausted though!

TheColorIndigo · 19/09/2022 18:46

It was an amazing show today, so many people doing such a good job. A mesmerising watch.

However, I feel this is one high moment in a long bitter decline - this country is no longer providing for its people and it's just getting worse.

KillerQueenGunpowderGelatine · 19/09/2022 18:55

Prinnny

It happened to my best friend's DM. I was due to drive her there, so yes it happened.

FurAndFeathers · 19/09/2022 18:55

Cancelled hospital appointments, parents having to juggle childcare, billions of pounds of public money spent on pomp and ceremony at a time when some people face freezing to death this winter.

And all to bury a body? No that doesn’t make me proud.

Celebrating a racist, self-protecting institution that is closely intertwined with child traffickers and paedophiles?

No that doesn’t make me proud.

the Royal family is all pomp, ceremony and shiny distraction. Scratch below the surface and it’s a deeply unpleasant institution, focussed on self-protection at any cost.

I find it bizarre that folk are still so desperate to be ‘ruled over’ by incompetent, corrupt and deeply unpleasant people, simply because they’re rich.

LadyApplejack · 19/09/2022 18:57

Yes, it was an amazing show of pageantry, tradition, discipline, unity, patriotism. An event I'm sure I'll always remember.

Topgub · 19/09/2022 18:57

@Prinnny

Or maybe, just maybe not everyone lives in your area?

Melonymelony · 19/09/2022 18:57

Very proud today to be British today.

Topgub · 19/09/2022 19:00

People on mn seemingly genuinely calling for the heads of republicans showing disrespect has actually made my day.

HappyPeach · 19/09/2022 19:02

Found my tribe. I'm surrounded by miserable anti-royalists irl. I thought the whole thing was a fabulous success & I'm super happy to have a seamless transition with Charles as King.

Prinnny · 19/09/2022 19:07

Of course not everyone lives in my area but let’s stop with all this the NHS has stopped, cancer patients have been left high and dry bullshit when is not universally true. Emergency and unscheduled care is still running in all areas just like any bank holiday.

BakeOffIsBack · 19/09/2022 19:09

Totally agree OP.

And I am proud to be British most days. Does that mean I believe in everything the government does - hell no! Government policy does not define national identity, those 2 things are entirely different or everyone on this thread would be a raging Tory.

FurAndFeathers · 19/09/2022 19:13

Oh well that’s fine then.
so long as it’s just the scheduled appointments that have been cancelled.

I’m sure the billions of ££ of public spending that could have gone to the NHS/policing/fuel support that have been spunked up the wall on pomp and ceremony will be a great comfort to those patients affected.

Attictroll · 19/09/2022 19:14

Mixed feelings - it was genuinely spectacular and did her proud but also felt like a lot of military twaddle, lots of white faces in battalions and few women although it was celebrating a woman.

I work and have talked to many international colleagues in the last week who are genuinely interested in it but more as a strange anachronistic thing. I think most will have watched some but it is her that is admired not us as a nation.

SunsetGun · 19/09/2022 19:14

I am so proud to be British. I wasn’t born in the UK, but am now a British citizen. Some people don’t appreciate how lucky they are to be born into a democratic country with free healthcare and education.

If you’re someone that’s ashamed to be British, what are you doing to change things?

Britain really knows how to do ceremony, in a good way.
When there is a big event we do pomp and ceremony exceptionally well.

MrsFezziwig · 19/09/2022 19:16

Topgub · 19/09/2022 15:33

I'm not

The rest of the world must think we're absolutely nuts!

I think you’re wrong.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/09/2022 19:18

Yes, I was very proud today.

WildfellAnne · 19/09/2022 19:21

hattie43 · 19/09/2022 18:02

@WildfellAnne

Luckily you're the minority

You don’t know that. I was one of the billions that watched. No one knows how many felt proud to be British. Obviously not many, as most people who watched couldn’t possibly have been British in the first place.

Oncology ran today for my sisters appt too. But don't let that get in the way of your hatred and lies. @KillerQueenGunpowderGelatine

Or why still here when it's so shameful and awful .
