It's still a military area but nowhere near as it used to be. Many of the navy and army bases have closed down over the years. Collingwood and HMS Sultan are really the only two left locally.

Not again. He was not a senior enough role in the armed forces to wear a uniform after he left . He then resigned his honorary roles as part of stepping down so has no role that allows him to wear a uniform. Not just anyone can wear one. Andrew was a Vice-Admiral and can wear his but hasn't. The others have honorary roles so are entitled to wear one.

Because he is no longer serving. My father was not allowed to wear his uniform after he left the army, nor his police uniform after he retired from the service. He WAS allowed to wear his medals but not the uniforms.
Those that are wearing uniforms do so because they still hold those positions.

Because he's not a member of the forces now.

I remember them making some kind of comment about it at Prince Phillip's funeral though.

My daughter was made to go into work today in Soho. Apparently the cafe is empty! Who would've thought. But maybe after the crowds disperse they will all head off for a Pad Thai or Green curry as is traditional on such occasions.....
