The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

Anyone batting off young dc

I never watch stuff in day and four year old buzzing around

I had a thought today we’ve known the Queen all our lives, her age group will have Kings

Yea mine is sulking big time! Especially as I have my phone as well as the tv which breaks the house rules! 🙈

Flowersintheattic57 · 19/09/2022 11:33

Anyone else notice how incredibly white it all is? Of all the sailors round her coffin only one wasn’t shiny white, one adult in the choir, one boy, head church honcho; shiny white. Thank goodness for the baroness, fabulous speaking voice.
The irony of all the commonwealth representatives , the former colonies, seeing that when it gets to the top, shiny white prevails.
As a white Brit, I find it embarrassing.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 11:33

I've also been wondering about Megan's wardrobe!

I suppose designer's come to her?
Her coat and hat are stunning,I just wish she had a broach or something sparkling.
Kate's choker looks stunning, also looks familiar?

The three grandchildren on the front row - William, Peter and Zara - are the three eldest.

Ah OK thanks.

Cocolapew · 19/09/2022 11:33

Thanks SoupDragon

Benefi · 19/09/2022 11:33

I was thinking that the Queen was sending a message to the new King about the "Spider Letters" when I saw the creature on the wreath!

Here we go 🙄

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 11:33

I felt sad that we won't have another female as head of state for decades.
William and Kate will be King and Queen one day , but it's not the same.

TugboatAnnie · 19/09/2022 11:33

What will tip me over is if that card says 'Mummy'. 🥲

QuebecBagnet · 19/09/2022 11:33

Travelledtheworld · 19/09/2022 11:32

@QuebecBagnet surely Megan would have a personal shopper and an account with a suitable London store ?

Yes, even if she didn’t have one set up already as she no longer lives here I’m bet they could have set one up asap.

A bit of paper fluttered to the floor just behind the coffin. Dropped by a priest as he opened the booklet I think? It’s been picked up now.

Thankyou...

@Cocolapew .
Many years ago I saw a documentary on choir boys and I was horrified by the hard work they have to do. Up hours before others, slogging away hours and hours practice.

As a musician I am bowled over by these boys. Just like elite sports people musicians too have to spend hours and hours dedicated to perfection. They are awe inspiring. Music touches the soul uniquely.

LIZS · 19/09/2022 11:34

Apparently the flowers are from Highgrove, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace and include rosemary for remembrance and myrtle which is traditional in Royal wedding bouquets for a long and happy marriage.

I turned it on late, about 930, hope I didnt miss anything, I love the marching and bands and love the outfits. Love kilts and their little white bootie things

Im not a monarchist but you can still enjoy these things as part of our cultural heritage and traditions. Ive just learned for example that the navy pulling the gun carriage was caused by Queen Victorias horses playing up and so it was suggested the navy take over and we've done it since. Little things like that are interesting to me.

Me too. The music is beautiful. We do it all so well. My father would have watched every minute of it so I am watching on his behalf

I think the people chosen have been selected for their rank and achievements, not the colour of their skin.

Definitely not a Boris fan, but I do think he'd have read it better. The bumbling was an act.

Bet he's gutted, gutted, that he didn't get to have his moment.

Agree with both points.

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 11:34

Ah Parry, lovely

If that was aimed at me I wasn’t having a dig at Meghan at all when I wondered if she’d had to go shopping for black clothes in a hurry. I was genuinely wondering and felt sorry for her if she was here without stuff. Because yes as someone pointed out she can’t nip out to M&S so might have been a bit of a nightmare for her getting suitable clothes in a hurry. Though I guess palace staff, etc would have helped. She must be having a really hard week and being apart from her kids longer than planned.

The RF always travel with black clothes, don't know if the Sussexes do, I read once that it dates back to when George VI died and there was a mad rush to get black clothes to the plane carrying HM, she had to change on the plane.

Boris would actually have read beautifully.

Put your phone away Carrie!

rocketfromthecrypt · 19/09/2022 11:35

Boris couldn't be persuaded to brush his fucking hair though, could he.

Cocolapew · 19/09/2022 11:35

Thanks for the choir info, I never realised there was a school.

There's an older lady on the other side of Fergie who I can't place.

Behind her?

QuebecBagnet · 19/09/2022 11:05

I wonder if Meghan had to do an emergency shopping trip? I’m assuming she wouldn’t have come over with a weeks worth of black just in case.

The Royal family have teams of people working for them. Anyone staying with them benefit from the 5* 24/7 concierge/ butler service.

’The Duchess of Sussex requires mourning clothes’
Phonecalls are made and a wide selection of designer outfits/accessories in the correct size are delivered.

It’s a different world.

Oh yes. Very difficult to get in - top singers only!

Chosen by ability but like most of the famous choirs you attend the choir school so it’s a full time thing.
